In the world of Tallenmere, an elven noblewoman longed to leave her gilded cage. A half-breed former pirate wanted nothing more than to escape his guilty past. Easier said than done...

High elf Caliphany Aranea leads an enviable life as King Leopold's niece and daughter of Sirius, Leogard's most famous wizard. Yet, being forced to follow in her father's footsteps and being betrothed to a man she doesn't even like makes her want a taste of life outside the city walls.

As a young boy, half-elf Galadin Trudeaux witnessed his parents' death at the hands of pirates. After being raised by those same murderers and forced to do their bidding, he escaped and now lives an honest life as a sea merchant and ranger.

When two brutes at Leogard Harbor attempt to kidnap Caliphany while she dreams of faraway lands, Galadin comes to her rescue. Impressed by his skills, she asks him to train her as a ranger. Though he is hesitant at first to train a woman of her class, Caliphany's hefty sack of gold finally persuades him. Unfortunately, her father is not amused, and the two must escape before Caliphany faces a forced marriage and Galadin faces a noose.

From that moment on, she and Galadin embark on an adventure of a lifetime. Only if they can survive the trials ahead, will they find a love that stands the test of time.

Book Review for Vigil Annie by Lia Fairchild

About Book

Annie Crawford is an ex-cop living a double life. After her fiancé is murdered and she is left for dead, she’s desperate and seeking vengeance. She turns to a vigilante agency headed by a man with his own secrets. Annie must work for them as they investigate the murder and help her find the answers she needs.
Now working on the wrong side of the law, Annie’s life has one purpose: justice. Justice for her fiancé and for the city she lives in. But as Annie’s strength grows, the agency struggles to control her, putting everyone involved at risk. And the deeper Annie sinks into this new life the more she fears she may never return.

My Thoughts

Okay first I was given this book for an honest review. That being said this really was a very good book. Well written and it flowed really good. I loved the character Annie and could feel the pain, angst, and the total pulling back and forth between what to do.

I always love a story with a strong female lead and Annie is certainly that. Even after a very horrible tragedy that destroys the wonderful life she was building. Trying to rebuild her life, to keep so many secrets hidden and trying to find the person responsible for destroying her life Annie doesn't have time for anything or anyone. Her sites are set on one thing and one thing only revenge. And she will use whatever means necessary.

But don't you know it - there is always that hot guy who has to throw a woman off her course. Try as Annie may, and at first she really does do a good job of giving mister hot stuff Joe the shove off. Joe continues to chisel away at the wall Annie has built around her heart, around her life. You can tell this really frustrates Annie because she can't afford and doesn't have time for complications let alone some guy in her life.

There is one scene in the book that I TRULY loved - okay there were really a few but one that I jumped up and whoot whooted out loud to - Annie has these neighbors that disturb the peace where she lives and I so love how she takes care of the matter. That is all I am going to say about that part. No spoiler here LOL

Overall this really was a great book - the ending leaves a door for another book to be written and I really hope the author does write another book I would love to see what happens to Annie and mister hot stuff Joe.

Which lover will have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the other before they both are lost?

My Thoughts

1st let me say I was given this book for an honest review - now that aside sit back and prepare yourself for my review - LOL

Can we say - COLD SHOWER - okay ladies let me first say before you begin reading this book have a damp cool rag, a ice cold glass of sweat tea or be prepared for a cold shower because let me tell you the steam that comes from this book is enough to fill your room, cut it with a knife thick.

I don't want to put any spoilers in here but lets just say I love how Sharon starts the book with a marriage that failed right from the very start - it wasn't one of those picture perfect weddings that goes off without a hitch and they bride and groom run off on a wonderful honeymoon and then something tragic happens. No instead the wedding is a disaster and the bride runs off on the honeymoon on her own only to wind up in trouble, serious trouble, vampire trouble of course.

I also love how the vampires are different in this story they are not your average burn in the sun, twinkle like Twilight's Edward and go around wreaking tons of havoc around the world. Anne is not a vampire slayer in this book which I also liked. I actually even like how Anne becomes a vampire (okay a small spoiler there - sorry).

How Anne reacts and what she does after becoming a vampire are very well written and you can feel what she is going through as she changes and no it isn't rip their heads off and drain all their blood leaving behind a slew that mangled dead bodies either. I like how Marcus comes into her life from all of this to guide her for reasons I wont tell (spoiler lol) but like a typical man forgets that women need to know everything and you cant keep parts of it out so yeah he mucks that up. But I promise all will be alright.

The sex scenes are truly amazing and again refer to my opening paragraph trust me they are super - nuff said there right.

The ending had me on the edge of my seat I was like OMG no way this can not be happening but it was and well all I can say is hurry and get the book and find out what happens to Anne and Marcus.

Bowen seizes his enemy’s keep, unprepared for the brooding and reclusive woman who captures his heart. He’s enchanted by her fierce determination, her unusual beauty, and her quiet, unfailing strength. But wooing her will take more than a seasoned seducer’s skill. For loving Genevieve, he discovers, means giving her back the freedom that was stolen from her—even if it means losing her forever.

My Thoughts

I have been reading this series for some time and I am totally enjoying it ! I have so say that this story has touched my heart made me cry so many times throughout this story. This is one of the best books that I have read this year.It was such an emotional read. The characters were riveting  .

Bowen Montgomery storms the gates of McHugh gates to right a wrong done to his sister in-law.Upon the siege he encounters Genevieve and so the story begins.I have to say that after reading this story Bowen is my favorite Montgomery brother. The Montgomery men were a breed of there own.During times of unrest it is so out of character for the men to have feelings so I found Bowen to be sweet and refreshing.

The Montgomery men were raised to protect there women and to aid those who weaker and cannot fend for themselves.Genevieve McInnes is a victim of the McHugh's as well has the Montgomery's sister my marriage.Genevieve was made a prisoner and has endure such a life that most would have not been able to survive but, with the Montgomery and the Armstrong's arrival she sees perhaps freedom coming her way if she can just convince them to let her go to the nearest abbey.

I have to say that I had many favorite characters in this story strong and caring men from both the Montgomery and Armstrong clan men.I loved them all.I however, fell totally in love with Bowen the first moment he showed any kindness to Genevieve and decided to become  her champion ! I was toast right then and there !.

The more I read medieval romances the more I am glad I was never born during that time. Most men of that time period were just so barbaric so this read was a treat to find men who respected women and saw them as just more than a vessel.I saw there women fight beside there men. (grin)As most stories goes when one is a love story the path is never and easy one....

Reading this story about Genevieve and Bowen I thought I was going to go through a box of tissues.I love a story were a warrior becomes a champion for one in need.Genevieve surprised me the most throughout this story and how she coped with her surroundings and with the total hatred of the entire McHugh clan of women who beat her down with words and actions at every turn yet she champions the clan who has all but turn there back on her the one wronged her !Genevieve proved to be a little warrior herself one who you could look up to as a role model. She had a such a loving  and caring person her story was so heart wrenching making my heart break at every word I read.I was rooting for a happily ever after for her from page one.

Bowen amazed me at every turn with his actions and caring. He went on a mission to kill and man and take over his clan in righting a wrong that was done to his Laird and brother. He never expected a playboy like himself to fall for a women like Genevieve. But, his loyalty will be tested and life changing decisions made he might gain all or lose all in one swoop!Bowen was sent on this mission but, I think fate intervened as he was the only one who would be able to mend the broken Genevieve along with giving him the one true love of his life one that would not be easy to seduce and conquer so easily but one worth fighting for!

There was so much going on in the pages of this story to keep you glued.Twists and turns and danger lurking at every turn for this couple .They will need the alliance of both the clan of Montgomery and Armstrong to face the dangers ahead of them if they are going to survive as someone wants them dead! This read was a touching story and one of great sacrifice making it truly amazing story.

I recommended read to all.Be sure to put this series into your to read pile along with this current installment. This book goes into my favorite reads pile and will be read more than once before this year is out....
