From best-selling author Stephen England

comes TALISMAN, a new stand-alone short

story

 in the Shadow Warriors series.

"We are going to find the people who did this

 to

our country. And we are going to see them

 burn."

With America still reeling from the largest

terrorist attacks to strike the homeland since

9/11, a Clandestine Service strike team is

dispatched to the Mediterranean to target the

man responsible for financing the plot--Saudi

Prince Yusuf ibn Talib al-Harbi. Codename:

 TALISMAN.

For CIA paramilitary operations officer Jack

"Tex" Richards, his orders couldn't have been

more straightforward: by the time the sun

rises once more over Monaco, TALISMAN will

be dead. The plan is simple enough.

But as darkness falls, as the mission starts to

fall apart, as the life of an American college

student becomes inextricably linked with that

of the prince, one truth is self-evident: there is

no such thing as a clean kill. .

Our Review

This is a Shadow Warriors short. Follows right

on the heels of Day of Reckoning. But it

doesn't have my favorite CIA op Harry

Nichols. This one is all Tex and his mission is

revenge for his country, and his target is

 Talisman.

This is a super fast read. Like 30 minutes tops

and takes place in Monaco. Carter is in here

 as

well. You get to see Tex in action. Show no

mercy, take no prisoners. He is on a mission to

take out a target but things don't go as

planned. And one plan is changed to another

plan when an innocent is unexpectedly in

 harms way.

I really enjoyed getting to see Tex in action, a

 character throughout the Shadow Warrior

series that I have always been intrigued by, this

book allows his character to come out and you

get to see him in action. And the outcome when

 things don't go as planned.

Enjoyed reading this one - Now it's off to the

newest book just released. Embracing the Fire.

Genre

Stephen England is the author of the bestselling Shadow Warriors thrillers, including Amazon's #1 Bestselling Political Thriller, Pandora's Grave, and its long-awaited sequel, Day of Reckoning--a novel hailed as "the perfect spy thriller for our time--chaotic, cynical, with only a few good men keeping the barbarians from the gate."

Drawing upon nearly a decade of research into the nature of Islam, the Middle East, espionage and counterterrorism operations, England's work has drawn praise for breathing new life into the genre with the hard-edged, unsparing realism of his portrayal of the war on terror, the people who wage it, and the moral and psychological costs exacted of those who take the war to the enemy where he lives. "Soldiers without uniforms. Fighting a war without end. Shadow warriors. . ."

The short stories NIGHTSHADE and TALISMAN round out the Shadow Warriors series, and England's work also includes the stand-alone historical adventure novel, Sword of Neamha.

About Book

Annie Crawford is an ex-cop living a double life. After her fiancé is murdered and she is left for dead, she’s desperate and seeking vengeance. She turns to a vigilante agency headed by a man with his own secrets. Annie must work for them as they investigate the murder and help her find the answers she needs.
Now working on the wrong side of the law, Annie’s life has one purpose: justice. Justice for her fiancé and for the city she lives in. But as Annie’s strength grows, the agency struggles to control her, putting everyone involved at risk. And the deeper Annie sinks into this new life the more she fears she may never return.

My Thoughts

Okay first I was given this book for an honest review. That being said this really was a very good book. Well written and it flowed really good. I loved the character Annie and could feel the pain, angst, and the total pulling back and forth between what to do.

I always love a story with a strong female lead and Annie is certainly that. Even after a very horrible tragedy that destroys the wonderful life she was building. Trying to rebuild her life, to keep so many secrets hidden and trying to find the person responsible for destroying her life Annie doesn't have time for anything or anyone. Her sites are set on one thing and one thing only revenge. And she will use whatever means necessary.

But don't you know it - there is always that hot guy who has to throw a woman off her course. Try as Annie may, and at first she really does do a good job of giving mister hot stuff Joe the shove off. Joe continues to chisel away at the wall Annie has built around her heart, around her life. You can tell this really frustrates Annie because she can't afford and doesn't have time for complications let alone some guy in her life.

There is one scene in the book that I TRULY loved - okay there were really a few but one that I jumped up and whoot whooted out loud to - Annie has these neighbors that disturb the peace where she lives and I so love how she takes care of the matter. That is all I am going to say about that part. No spoiler here LOL

Overall this really was a great book - the ending leaves a door for another book to be written and I really hope the author does write another book I would love to see what happens to Annie and mister hot stuff Joe.

About Book

***For Mature Readers***
Eyes scanning, searching, the predator sits motionless in a parking lot. His next victim is only feet away. Within hours a backwater south Georgia county will be rocked by two seemingly unrelated murders that signal the arrival of a serial killer in the rural southland.

Hunting the killer and preventing the next brutal murder falls to a plainspoken country deputy and two agents of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The chase leads north from the swamps along the Florida line to the foothills of the Appalachians.

GBI agents Bob Shaklee and Sharon Price know that Deputy George Mackey is a natural hunter and if anyone can find the sadistic killer, Mackey can. But Mackey, haunted by his own demons can only wonder if he will be late again. It is his greatest fear.

My Thoughts and Review

I have to say this was a very good thriller book and for a first novel job well done Glenn.

The author pays a lot of attention to detail in this book, crafting each character so that you feel like you know them personally. He lays out the bad guy Lylee for you and you can just about see his crimes through his eyes from the authors writing. Its like you can feel what the victims went through.

Each character has their own storyline within this book and I like how he goes back and forth between each characters ongoing life story but yet they all work, they flow seamlessly into the makings of a very great murder, who don't it, Good cops chasing the bad guy and even a hero or two in there.

I have to say that my favorite character of course was Deputy George Mackey I could feel his guilt and driving need to catch this bad guy. And I really loved how he even wrote in a really down right mean Sheriff only out to protect his position with an upcoming re-election and had him gunning for Deputy Mackey throughout the entire story. But trust me when I say he gets his in the end.

Description

Washington, D.C., Metro Police Detective Sergeant Sam Holland needs a big win to salvage her career--and her confidence--after a disastrous investigation. The perfect opportunity arises when Senator John O'Connor is found brutally murdered in his bed, and Sam is assigned to the case. Matters get complicated when Sam has to team up with Nick Cappuano, O'Connor's friend and chief of staff...and the man Sam had a memorable one-night stand with years earlier. Their sexual chemistry still sizzles, and Sam has to fight to stay focused on the case. Sleeping with a material witness is another mistake she can't afford--especially when the bodies keep piling up.

My Thoughts and Review

High Paced - Super Intense
I love books with strong female leads and I love books even more when the strong female lead is in a powerful position like in this case a detective.

Samantha "Sam" Holland is a detective investigating the horrific murder of a very popular US Senator. A major witness to the case Nick a man she had a one night stand with over 6 years ago found the body of the senator. Sam has had so real trials in her life since then from a bad marriage, her father (once the chief of police) being injured on the duty and permanently paralized, a high profile case she was on turned bad and now the murder of a US Senator. She doesnt need this man to come back into her life but he does and at full force.

The plot of the book, the lay out all of it is excellent. I love when I can start a book and immediately be drawn into the story, into the lives of the characters and feel like I am right there, like one of them. You can't wait for the next page, the next clue to try and find out who murdered the Senator and let me just say I was completely shocked in the outcome - who really murdered the senator.

Fixing to get the next book in the series. Great Job Marie Force....
