Standing on a literal pedestal, with my

arms securely bound in front of me with

yards of red ribbons and my body draped

in a short virgin-white Grecian gown, I

experienced a twinge of divinity. I was his

goddess for the moment—one to be

admired yet possessed. I wondered what

Gabriel’s expression held as he looked at

 me.

Pride? Lust? Yearning? Love?

I didn’t know because I was blindfolded.

Gabriel’s kiss ghosted on my upper thigh

. Warmth settled low in my belly. I itched

to run my fingers through his golden hair

as my lips crashed into his. My captivity

punished even as it heated my blood.

Gabriel was right—this truly would be an

exercise in patience and control. The

ache for him already etched itself deep in

 my bones.

Scottish Brides - Where Regency elegance meets Highland passion!

Our Review

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved this story. This is a first time read for me by this author and won't be the last already added some new titles to my to read pile.

Just loved the chemistry between Mairi and Jack it was explosive. The writer did a really great job creating a love story born from love and hate or more like a strong dislike of one another. The story was about a chance sexual encounter that started off as just a one night stand but turned into so much more.

What would you do if you woke up after having a one night of  no strings attached to realized that your chosen partner was one who you new and despised? What a surprise right ?How can you have a grand passion for someone you are suppose to hate.To make more things complicated the couple is related by a family marriage.

Mairi needs to put distance and between her and Jack and come to grips with her feelings before she encounters him again and he must never find out who he really spent the night with.Jack on the other hand has no idea who he spent the night with but, knows he must find her and explore his overwhelming feelings he now has for a girl he just met.

Wow ! This was one hot read bordering on a erotica novel. The sexual tension and sexual scenes the writer created were totally hot and enraging with a little bit of fun added. Not only that the story kept you totally clued to the pages.Who doesn't like a story with danger lurking about and a mystery to solve secrets to uncover or to see two people who were hurt by there past find love once again. Not only that who doesn't like to see the chase happen. In this case the cat a mouse game between the two was fun to see unfold nether looking for a lasting relationship but, cannot seem to let the other go.After all Jake is a rake a love and leave them type but,for once its nice to see the rake fall.

I always have a favorite character and Jack was mine.Jack was a total Rake with a troubled emotional past due a family tragedy. He has cut off his feelings and feels as though he is not worthy of love or happiness.A bit of a tortured soul .But, one single night with a mystery women changes his life even though he may not know it yet. Many describe Jack as a very dangerous man to be feared but ,we got to see a softer side of him as the story started to unfold and that there may be a heart buried there after all.

Mairi was and intriguing character a feisty strong and smart women . A women who is shouldering some major secrets that never must come to light and keeping those secrets has become a burden. She must never get that close to someone and become emotionally engaged on the off chance that someone will fret out her secrets and hurt the ones she loves. My heart broke for her at the sadness and loneliness she must feel.To constantly pretend to be someone your not must be exhausting.

A passionate and intriguing read.Loved reading the story from cover to cover.I would recommend this read to all and will be reading more in this series as I have just gained a new author to follow as she writes beautifully.

The Struggle between Independence and Partnership

Thank you so much for being part of the blog tour for my newest book, A Kiss of Revenge!

One of the themes I often find developing in my books—and indeed, it’s a theme in a LOT of modern romance—is the balance between the heroine’s independence and her romantic relationship. When does compromise become deference? How can you stay true to yourself and still honor the other person’s importance?

Reese, in particular, has a struggle with it. She’s spent her whole life changing herself for others, and when she finally thought she had the balance thing down, her world exploded. Now she’s driven to make things right before she can move on with her life, but there’s a problem. She’s falling in love, but she doesn’t know how to be with Griff. He’s the first guy who seems to see her as she really is, and accept her unconditionally, but she knows that will change if she achieves her goals. And even if he still cares about her the same, can she be with him without losing herself again?

I live a very normal life. I’ve been happily married for 21 years, and every day I revel in the balance we’ve managed to achieve. (Most of the time, anyway. ;) ) But because I was raised by a single mother who was part of the struggle for equality, it’s a topic that’s always in the back of my mind. Also, for some reason, I am all about the romance. Seriously. Any movie I watch or book I read, I’m looking for the love interest. I knew Ginny Weasley was meant for Harry from the day they met on Platform 9 3/4. Love is like the reward for whatever obstacles life throws in your face. Especially if making that connection is one of your greater personal conflicts.

So to me, the struggle between independence and partnership is ongoing throughout the life of the characters, well beyond the closing words of the book. But I always hope I leave my readers feeling as if the hero and heroine, forged in fire (or sometimes blood), have developed the skills and desire that will get them through anything they have to deal with in life.

What do you think? Is this a reason you like to read romance—seeing how characters overcome the struggle?—or do you not really care, as long as the book has a happy ending? :)

The Book
Marriage is completely over-rated, especially after Reese Templeton’s quadratic failure. She’d rather settle down to a solitary life of owning a bakery—after she tracks down the man responsible for her husband’s death and making her a human Taser full of enough electricity to short out a city block or send a man into cardiac arrest with just one kiss.

But alluring P.I. Griffin Chase is stirring up those feelings of need again. Only this time, her desire to be in his arms has nothing to do with her fear of loneliness and everything to do with the current charging through her body every time he looks at her…touches her.

Griffin hasn’t remained at Reese’s side just because of the spark that has nothing to do with her super-human talents. He’s willing to compromise his rock-solid principles so she can find closure. But before they can move on, he must help her catch her late husband’s killer, staying on track before she has a chance to exact her revenge. Because leading Reese to jail in handcuffs may just break his heart for the final time.

The Excerpt

Griff smiled, and Reese’s stomach did a whole flippin’ somersault.

“I had meetings at the office in Boston and was headed back to DC. I thought I’d stop in and see how you’re doing.”

She grabbed a towel to wipe off her ice-cream-sticky hands. “Crestview is not on the way to DC from Boston.”

He shrugged and pointed at the butter croissants in the bakery display case. “Close enough.”

With a pair of tongs, she selected the biggest croissant and put it on a plate. “Coffee?”

“Of course.” He leaned against the counter and folded his arms. “You have anything for me to check out?”

She shook her head. “Not at the moment.”

“What about him?” He jerked his head toward the sidewalk outside, where Andrew Laine stood talking to the couple who owned the hardware store. “He giving you any trouble?”

“Not anymore. I told him I was married.”

She cursed herself as soon as the words were out of her mouth. Griff’s gray-blue eyes darkened, his rock-solid chin tightening. He’d obviously meant “trouble” because of Reese breaking the law, not because the chief of police had asked her out.

“You’re not thinking—”

“No!” She grabbed the towel again and swept it over the few crumbs and coffee drips on the counter, scrubbing vigorously at one dried spot. “I didn’t want to shove him too far away, that’s all. As long as he had an interest, I could keep track of what he knew.” Even if it kept her on edge and fried her equipment.

“Anyway, he knows now. It’s fine. You don’t have to worry.”

“You pay me to worry.”

That wasn’t strictly true. Griff was co-owner of a multi-city private detective firm. He ran Chase Investigations in Washington, DC, where Reese had lived before the plane crash. Reese had hired him to help her track down clues about whoever had tried to kill her. But they’d become friends. He’d helped her through physical therapy, been a sounding board while she dealt with her new reality, and was the only person on earth who knew what that lightning strike had done to her body.

“I’m paying you to do research,” she reminded him. “You choose to worry.”

He grinned and shook back his shaggy dark-blond hair. “You make it hard not to.”

Another group came in, and he retreated to a table with his breakfast. Reese saw Kimmie eyeing him, and the young woman flushed at his greeting. Reese couldn’t blame her. He had the classic “hunk” build, with a broad chest, narrow waist, and shoulders shown off by a tight gray T-shirt. His gray-blue eyes were nothing special at first glance, but they sparkled at everyone and made his charming smile even brighter. No doubt that smile was what pinned Kimmie in place now, wearing a slightly stunned expression.

Reese wasn’t immune, but her friendship with Griff had become one of the most important things in her life. It was something she’d never had before, and she was going to treasure it as long as it lasted.

Book Review

This book starts off in such a tragic and sad way, right away my heart was breaking for my favorite Valkyrie Heroine Bryn. To go through the pain and torture she went through and endured I couldn’t even imagine. To know you lost the one thing that you had come to love and cherish. But Bryn is strong and she rises above. Not only does she lose something very close and dear to her, she also begins to lose someone she loves, or thought she loved. But if I know my Bryn she is going to forge ahead and do some serious butt kicking. That is part of the charm of Bryn that I just fell in love with in book one.

This book was beyond anything I expected. I won't lie when I say Bryn was and still is my absolute favorite character in this series, and honestly in all the books I have read about Norse/Greek mythology and Valkyrie’s. From the beginning of book One (Dead Radiance) all the way through to the end of book Three (Dead Chaos) I have loved her courage, strength, fortitude, compassion her ability to never give up and her wit.

As I have said in my reviews of Dead Radiance and Dead Embers, I have always had a fascination with Valkyrie, Odin, Freya, Loki, Thor, Einherjar and let us not forget the ever loveable, ever annoying Hugin. LOL Gosh I love that black bird. LOL :) You just can’t go wrong with Hugin on your side. And I loved the introduction of Odin’s wolf dogs that are bestowed upon Bryn. Nice little doggies they are :)

The author does an amazing job with the characters, bringing them to life, their interactions and the storyline is very believable as it was with books 1 and 2.

After everything that Bryn goes through in this book, anyone else would have caved and thrown in the towel, crawled into a hole. But not her, she rises above and continues to stand true to herself, her beliefs and to fight for Asgard and Valhalla and for all of her friends, Gods and herself. Each batter she loses something, but in the end comes out ahead gaining more than she bargained for. Her last battle in the book is awesome and love how “name not being offered so as not to spoil” throws a tantrum like a baby. LOL So nice to see that. LOL But the loss that comes from this battle broke my heart and had my grabbing for my tissue and crying big time.

And um excuse me - HELLO CLIFF HANGER!!!!! T.G. you are so not nice. And we need to have a little talk - I can’t believe you did that - OMG the ending - okay everyone just be prepared go ahead and walk to the edge of the cliff and jump because that is exactly what happens here you jump because you can’t wait to turn the page and find out what happens and T.G. Ayers leaves you in a free fall - ROFL man I so threw a temper tantrum myself - okay maybe I should take lessons from one of the gods in this story. LOL That was like riding on a roller coaster, heading into the loop and then the loop disappears and you are sent hurtling into thin air. LOL

Oh and the revelation that Bryn receives just before that cliffhanger I did not see that coming but what an awesome twist to the story. Job well done on that one - Cuddo’s. Let me just say if you have not read this series what are you waiting for? You are truly missing out on a fabulous story here.

Thank you for the honor of being able to read the next installment in this series.
