This is not your typical romance novel. Meant only for true fans of this series, this book will take you on a wild ride inside the author's mind, making you question your sanity and hers. Proceed with caution.

An hour west of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania lies a sleepy little village protected by a group of fierce warriors. Known only to the peaceful townsfolk as Reed Security, they battle evil politicians, stop heinous crimes, and destroy anyone who threatens them.

Now they must face their greatest challenge yet.

What happens when the author goes off the rails and threatens to turn their world upside down? How can Reed Security possibly persevere when the very person who created them wants to destroy the foundation in which they’ve built their lives?

Survival is key.

Absolute capitulation is the only way forward.

It’s time to prove what the men and women of Reed Security are really made of.

This was one wild ride and a fantastic read we could not stop laughing throughout the entire story as well as grinning and smiling. The story was filled with camaraderie witty banter snark teasing ribbing and so much more we loved it. This story made it to my number-one favorite for 2024 we didn't want the story to end.

The story was filled with a ton of alpha men and strong women the one woman who outshined them all was Maggie with all her craziness. Talk about hot and sexy scenes there were a ton of them with the alpha men and their ladies. Holy hotness! Fire passion chemistry and explosive.

So many of our favorite characters graced the pages once again and we loved it. The story was a page-turner. The ending was one of those where you are thinking hurry up get there we want to see how this turns out and the next you are thinking we don't want the story to end parts were heart-pounding and intriguing and had twists and turns and more than a few OMG! moments is this happening? We loved that Guilia wrote herself and into the story, we got a glimpse of how her mind works creating her characters how they live on, and how they are part of her everyday life It was a lot of fun to read about.

This story is all about the unexpected and surprise after surprise which is one of the things we loved most about it. This was an amazing read we could not put down.

Audiobook Review for Last Day of My Life by Lani Lynn Vale

Last Day of My Life: Freebirds Series, Book 4 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

She's the definition of lost. Doesn't know her name? Check. Cruelly beaten within an inch of her life? Check. No memory of anything that's happened since she woke up from that beating? Check. Losing a child she doesn't remember conceiving? Check. She hasn't felt anything but lost in a very long time. Then an old biker tells her danger is on the horizon. He sends her to a man that she instantly feels a connection with. A bone deep connection.

Him

He's the definition of despair. After the death of his young wife while on a tour of duty in Afghanistan, he hasn't seen the appeal of participating in the world around him. He's lost the only thing he ever loved. He's been a shell of the man he once was. His only escape from reality is feeling the wind in his hair, going as fast as he can get his old Harley to take him. That's the only time he can push his demons back far enough to feel peace. That is until she screams his name.

Contains mature themes.

Loved this one! Packed with so much emotion and pain and time wasted but, also a miracle. This is a highly emotional story filled with so much sadness, heartache, characters left brokenhearted, and a story that will rip your heart out. Have some tissues nearby.

Winter & Jack met years ago when young and married young but, even then Jack knew Winter was his forever girl. While away and enlisted Jack learns of his wife's violent death you can only imagine the guilt regret and heartbreak the man has been carrying around. Jack is pretty much a walking corpse at this point until a beautiful woman walks into his life once again.

Winter's life story is heartbreaking and painful and she suffers from Amenisa but, meeting Jack she feels a connection to the man she is not sure why but, her heart knows him even if she doesn't.

There is so much that went on in this story secrets coming to life, and their reuniting should have been a happy one but, there are nothing but, roadblocks in their way. The story was full of suspense so much so you could not put it down. The story will make you cry, having you root for Winter & Jack to find their way back to one another and demand justice and truth for this couple. The betrayals have you shaking your head. There were even some OMG! moments. Awesome story with wonderful characters. This story is the type of story that has you thinking about it and mulling things over in your head even hours later and one not easily forgotten.

Excerpt

The chains fell off his chest and arms and pooled around his waist. His freedom swept through him in ragged breaths.

She gazed at him with stiff lines of determination on her face, an expression he’d seen a hundred times, the unwavering glare that tortured him, aroused him, conjured his nightmares, and filled his dreams.

He memorized each twitch of her lashes, the delicate point of her raised chin, every faltered breath. He was consumed with having her and terrified to lose her.

“Tell me what you’re thinking.” He reached up to brush his fingers through her thick dark hair.

She recoiled before his hand made contact. A blank mask fell over her face, a wall of ice slamming between them. She moved to the driver seat and faced forward.

His momentary calm burst into a roaring fire. Hands fisting, heart pounding, he didn’t know what to do with the fury burning through his veins. He tagged his jeans and boots from the floorboard and jumped out.

He dressed as he walked, jerking on his boots, kicking branches out of his path. His muscles heated, and sweat-slicked his bare chest, chilling in the night air. He wasn’t angry at her. He was angry for her. The abuse has done to her body. The helplessness of her situation. His inability to free her.

He slammed a fist into the nearest tree trunk. Again. Again. Pain ricocheted through his hand, down his arm, and fed his breaking heart.

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught her silhouette standing a few yards away. A slender shadow, shrouded by darkness. And in her raised arms, she held a gun, trained on him.

He threw another fist. Absorbed the burn. Expelled the rancor. He knew she was holding a gun on him to prevent him from running and putting her family at further risk. Regardless, she wouldn’t shoot him. Not because she needed a slave, but because she loved what was hers with a self-destructing passion.

He faced her and held out his arms. “I’m yours.”

The girl and the gun didn’t move.

“Lose the damned mask and stop hiding from me.” He raked his throbbing hands through his hair. “Scream, cry, hit something. Hit me. But for God’s sake, let it out.”

The shadowy lines of her body wavered. The gun lowered, returned to her boot.

He stretched out his arms, savoring the cool breeze brushing over his unrestrained skin. “I stand here without rope or chains, Liv, tethered to you by my own will.” His blood beat with the ferocity of his words. “I won’t be free until you are.”

Her head jerked back, her body rigid. Then she walked straight to him and unleashed her fists on his chest. She clobbered him over and over, her gasps accelerating with each fall of her hand.

The lashing didn’t hurt. Not like the whimpers rising from her chest. She was hurting, lashing out for the wrongs that had been done to her. A sharp pain swelled in his throat. The only thing he could do was take it in, try to bear some of it for her.

He held his arms out and his body open. When her hits ebbed into weak slaps, she stumbled back, hugging herself and clutching her elbows.

His heartbeat slogged through the ache in his chest. He kept his arms outstretched and whispered, “I’m here.”

Disbelief widened the whites of her eyes, and her breath caught. He waited.

In two running steps, she launched at him, climbed up his chest, and curled her hands in his hair. He lifted her, pinning the curves of her thighs around his hips, and took her mouth. His knuckles burned with fever, but the heat from her lips was overriding. She whispered kisses over his jaw, around his mouth, caressing, assuring.

He angled his head, deepening the reach of his tongue and drinking her in lick by lick. Her hands in his hair, the sweetness of her breath filling his mouth, there will never be another kiss like hers. She knew how to suck his lips and trap his tongue in a way that stroked every nerve ending in his body. More than that, she knew how to reach inside him. She found him, her ferocity defying the odds and pivoting them into place, perfectly interlocked.

Her thighs squeezed around his waist, her breasts soft against his chest. He palmed her backside with a cautious gentleness, and chased her tongue, spiraling, stretching deeper, falling heart-first into an existence where only she mattered.

My god, I don't know where to start with this one this was one riveting read, that was dark, edgy, gritty, heart-wrenching had amazing characters and so much more. This is a first-time author for us, and we absolutely loved our first read by them. How does an author make us love the villains? Well in this story she did just that.

This 3 part book series moves up to my top favorite #1 reads for 2020.

Van is a villain you loved to hate he is dark, broken, insane, kinky, possessive, a monster but, his heart is not all dark and twisty he has the capacity to love, and he is capable of change and craves redemption. His story with his captive Liv and his victim/captive turned lover Amber were both compelling stories both so heart wrenching but, both so different.

My heart broke for Liv from the moment were learned of her capture and imprisonment for what she was forced to do and had to endure in order to survive and protect and the reasons she did what she had to do but, she was also and survivor and savior. Camila's and Joshua's love story was an unusual one but, from the moment they met we always felt the connection that was between them a pull that would not be denied. Soulmates found in the depths of hell and one man willing to sacrifice all in order to save the women that he has come to love.

Van and Amber's story was just as compelling it was shocking and heart-pounding. In this story, Van's possessive obsession with Camila leads him on a healing path for both himself and Amber, and he would find the one woman who would turn out to be his savior and turn his life upside down. Without giving away the story and by the time it ended the story had our heartbreaking for these characters but, it also had you believing that Van's dominance and his darkness and his kink and his sure determination were the only things that we're going to cure what ails Amber in order make her whole once again.

I loved that the author dove into their pasts with such depth and painstakingly honesty it was raw and hard to take in but, it touched on the emotions of the reader as well and made you feel their fears of rejection and their insecurities but, their hope of acceptance and love. We loved how Van was brutally honest and real with Amber and never tried to hide the darkness within him. Could we see them as a couple from the beginning? The answer is yes because nothing less than love would set them free... That and a sadistic bastard lol

Out of all these stories, the one we loved the most was Matías and Camilla's tale, and the depth of love and devotion between this couple and trust this couple had between them was heartfelt and swoon-worthy. I loved that Camilla was always at the forefront of Matias's mind being concerned with her safety and her happiness and welfare and how proud of her he was for her wanting to change the world and in turn, used the things that she learned from her horrific past to make a difference. Frizz was one of those characters that you wanted to uncover all his secrets. The story was full of love and devotion and was very suspenseful and compelling and had some amazing surprises yet still dark and twisty all the while had you trying to figure out what Matia's end game was and all his secrets. A love lost and one found. Our kind of read...

Overall the characters were all awesome and loveable and even the villains made you fall in love with them. All the stories were heartfelt, heart-wrenching, beautifully tragic, and filled with a ton of emotion. A dark and gritty tale that makes you uncomfortable has you on edge and was highly intriguing and it was full of triggers for most but, one you could not put down and not only that had you craving all the darkness the resided within these men that only they were capable of giving.

Fantastic Read! Highly recommended if you love dark romance! Can't wait to read Tate's story next!
