Our Review

WOW!!! Yes that is how I am starting out this review. I have never read a Regency Historical Romance from this time frame in London. So when I went into this I was thinking I was not going to enjoy this book but man was I wrong I was hooked right from the start. I loved Fantine Delmire's spunk and her fire from the beginning you can tell she doesn't like that her life is being forcefully turned upside down against her will. And to her Earl Nicholas Ashcom (Nick) is the enemy. And boy do they start off on a rough patch.

When Lord Ashcom forces Fantine to London to a coming out season the sparks fly even more. So does the jealousy of one Lady Vladim and the plot she and a few others plan may just change everything. What neither Nicholas or Fantine expect is that soon the irritation they each have toward the other begins to change. But will it be enough to survive what happens to Fantine.

Oh you have to read to find out let me just say I couldn't put the book down. My daughter had to wait for dinner lol sorry the story just sucked me in, the characters jumped out of the pages. I loved Aunt Dorothy she was awesome. Gloria what an excellent story.

About the Author

gloriagay.com

My love of reading and writing goes back to my discovery of Nancy Drew, The Dana Girls and Judy Bolton mysteries, which I read by the truckload.

From those early books I made a large leap into such classics as David Copperfield, The Old Curiosity Shop, a Tale of Two Cities and alternating with classics I would read gothics, and it was "Rebecca", which revived a dream of childhood to become a writer. A letter from Daphne Du Maurier, in reply to my question asking her if Manderley was real spurred me into writing a gothic novel. From there I became addicted to Regency romances, because they contained more romance than gothics and that was where I found my calling as an author.

My latest Regency romance is "Enchanted Summer," and I recently published a time travel romance, "A Bridge Through Time. When I'm not writing I'm painting--my other love--and occasionally pen poems.

I am busy writing another version of "Forced Offer" for which I still do not have a title and I am also writing another time travel romance--also no title comes to mind, as yet.

SCANDAL AT ALMACK'S and LOVELY LITTLE LIAR were published on January and April 2014 by Boroughs Publishing Group.

I read for several hours every day and I write very early in the morning or in the evening before I read either a Regency or a suspense novel.

From best-selling author Stephen England comes LODESTONE, a new stand-alone novella in the Shadow Warriors series,

"Deceleration. The MT1-XX parachute billowed open in the night sky above him, snapping his shoulders back against the harness and pulling him out of freefall. Over six years at this game. . .and he still didn't like the idea of jumping out of a fully-functional aircraft."

The year is 2006.

As the Israeli Defense Force storms across the border into southern Lebanon, preparing to surround the stronghold of Bint Jbeil, three men wearing the yellow headbands of Hezbollah parachute off the ramp of a USAF C-130 Hercules, falling into the Lebanese night.

Their mission: rescue a compromised CIA asset from Bint Jbeil with only hours remaining before the IDF completes their envelopment of the town.

For Harry Nichols, it isn't his first time dropping into a combat zone. But getting to the ground is only the beginning. . .for the woman they have come to save is the wife of a Hezbollah commander.

Her husband has vowed to kill her. The CIA has promised to keep her alive.

But as the mission descends into chaos--as the night explodes in fire--some promises will prove impossible to keep.

Our Review

Lodestone is the first book in a series called "Shadow Warriors" the main character is special ops Harry Nichols and I just love this guy. This is a military spy thriller series and talk about taking you to the edge of your seat. Harry and a group of his guys are sent into a country in turmoil to get an asset out. But as you can imagine things don't go right and Harry and his guys have to fight to not only get the asset out alive but themselves.

The detail that author Stephen England puts into his story is phenomenal. As a Veteran and growing up in the military life I have read spy novels and been very disappointed by the lack of knowledge the author had in this life. But Stephen England has really put a lot of attention to detail into the story bringing to life the terminology, weaponry and detail of this life.

You can feel yourself right next to Harry as he is fighting to keep his asset alive and bring all his men home safely. You can feel the intensity when they are under fire and you think they aren't going to make it. Stephen England draws you into the story, into the moment and leaves you wanting to hurry to the next page to see what happens.

If you like military thriller movies such as Lone Survivor or Black Hawk Down then you are going to love this book and this series.

Influences

Stephen England is the author of the bestselling Shadow Warriors thrillers, including Amazon's #1 Bestselling Political Thriller, Pandora's Grave, and its long-awaited sequel, Day of Reckoning--a novel hailed as "the perfect spy thriller for our time--chaotic, cynical, with only a few good men keeping the barbarians from the gate."

Drawing upon nearly a decade of research into the nature of Islam, the Middle East, espionage and counterterrorism operations, England's work has drawn praise for breathing new life into the genre with the hard-edged, unsparing realism of his portrayal of the war on terror, the people who wage it, and the moral and psychological costs exacted of those who take the war to the enemy where he lives. "Soldiers without uniforms. Fighting a war without end. Shadow warriors. . ."

The novella LODESTONE, and short stories NIGHTSHADE and TALISMAN round out the Shadow Warriors series, and England's work also includes the stand-alone historical adventure novel, Sword of Neamha.

Our Review

This is the first book I have had the pleasure of

reading by author Em Taylor and I am so glad

I read it. This was an absolutely fun book to

read. Right from the start the sparks and

snark and laughter begins. From the moment

Texas cowboy oil man Cole shows up in

Scotland to the small car issue and Cole

learning the slang used when he is kissing on

 Rhona in the parking lot.

There is no way you pick up this book and not

like it. Fast read, funny read, endearing read

. Rhona is worried before Cole arrives and is on

edge when he does but right always the sexy

cowboy is drawn to her and is winning her

over while learning about his inheritance and

 Scotland.

Yes there are sex scenes in this book but the

author does an absolutely fabulous job with

them. They weren't just thrown in to have sex

in the book they enhance the story and the

characters.

When I tell you that there is no way you walk

away from this book not falling for the sexy

cowboy Cole I am serious. The man just rocks.

I think I'm jealous of Rhona lol.

What a great book Em. Well done.

It has been four years since ex-Navy SEAL Jack Haliday, had an explosive run-in with a biker gang, wounding their leader, Gunner. During those years, Jack had acquired everything he ever wanted: a beautiful wife, daughter, and a lovely home in the suburbs--everything was just about as perfect as it could get, until Gunner returned to twist Jack's world inside-out with a vengeance that he could never have prepared for. Now Jack has a score to settle and he's got some friends to help him do it.

Our Review

So I want to start by saying this is the first book I have read by author Cindy McDonald and I can honestly tell you I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Wow this book was good. I have been talking about it for days at work with my coworker who loves to read as much as I do. So now onto my review.

Jack Haliday, former SEAL, works in the gang unit at the Rosemount police department and has a lovely wife and daughter. An op that went back years ago has come back to haunt him and causes some serious tragedy in his life. His neighbor always seemed to have a secret and Jack had planned to talk to him about it. Well when danger strikes the Haliday family his neighbor and his team are there to save them, some of them. And to help Jack seek revenge and heal. So that is the super-fast low down of the story. I don’t do spoilers just don’t like them. LOL

I love Jack, what a great character, Cindy does an amazing job building his character as well as the characters of his beautiful little girl Lillian, wife Laura, neighbor Walt and Dr. Rayne Lee. These are to me the main characters of the book. There are quite a few more all very well detailed but the main part involves these characters and the bad guy Gunner and his witch Alicia. Being honest here I don’t like her LOL.

Walt is ex CIA and has a team that does well secret stuff come on you know how it is can’t tell. LOL but Walt and some of his guys come to the rescue when Jack and his family fall prey to Gunner and some of his crew. Going to tell you right now you are going to cry, cry when you see what happens, cry when a big grown man has to tell a little girl sad news, cry when you learn someone’s sad story, cry, cry, cry and yell, scream, shiver in fright for some girls. Yeah you are going to go through a roller coaster of emotions in this book.

I couldn’t put this book down, its fast paced, its chalk full of great story and characters. The day is saved but not without casualties for sure. But wow what a powerful story – excellent job. Off to get the next book To The Breaking Point
