About Book

Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

My Thoughts

Wow talk about starting right off with throwing the hot biker guy at you. Nothing like a new neighbor that is so hot your heart beats triple time and your knees go weak at the sight of him. And his name – oh yeah that just clinched it – Torin!!! I mean come on dark hair, drop dead gorgeous eyes, leather jacket and a motorcycle who can get to school in the blink of an eye or two, extraordinarily strong and did I say smoking hot —- yup that about sums up sexy Torin…

This book wastes absolutely no time letting you know this is about mortals and immortals and the immortals want the mortals but why, that is what Raine is determined to find out. But she learns a whole lot more than she bargained for.
I love the unique names the author has used for the characters I mean hot boyfriend swimmer Eirik. The immortal with the sapphire eyes, silver spiky hair and crazy tattoos that appear and disappear Andris and his sexy mate Maliina and her sister Ingrid. Best friend Cora, neighbor and immortal Torin yeah the biker guy and of course our leading lady Raine “with an E” also nick named “Freckles”.
Right away you sense there is something special about Raine, and that she doesn't know she is. Others do though and haven't told her, yet! But it is going to happen sooner rather than later and with a bang. Like the high part of the music during a scary movie as the battle builds right from the start – there is absolutely no lag time in this book.
I loved the battle that rages inside Torin what he wants but knows he shouldn't or can't have, rules always rules, can't be broken or there is hell to pay. And Raine going through the same battle – safe and sound with Eirik or on the edge with Torin. Torn between what she has always wanted and known and the unknown that she is craving. She is torn between her life as she has always known it with Eirik, her mother and her best friend Cora and what she is feeling and wanting with Torin. Wow what a tough spot to be in. (Okay so I am over in the corner rooting for Torin – Go Go Rah Rah!!!)
This book was really fun to read, it was very fast paced and is about one of my newest favorite topics Norse Mythology lately I have come to love learning about Valkyrie and Odin, Freyja, Valhalla, the souls of the warriors risen again to fight in a final battle one to end all times and create a new world. And this book brings in much of that and leaves the door open for even more.
You are really going to pick up this book and not put it down until you are completely done and wishing for more.
Looking forward to the next book….

Immortals (book #2 in the Runes series) coming July 20th 2013 (Torin St. James is about to find out that Raine Cooper is one Mortal he cannot forget.)
