She’s perfect, all right. Perfect for him. Now he just has to convince her of that, something he never expects to be such a challenge.

She’s a mysterious bombshell who’s about to teach him what it’s like to play in the big leagues of the heart.

Roxy Wagner’s on a mission: get her best friend laid.

When they head out to ladies’ night in search of Mr. Right Now, it doesn’t take her long to spot the two tall, dark, and stud-lies watching them from across the club. One look at the bearded hottie with the seductive heat in his eyes tells her she’s about to go up against a real player.

She should know … it takes one to know one. And she’s not interested in playing for keeps.

It starts with a night out winging for friends. How it all ends will depend on whether Callan can find a way to tame Roxy’s wild heart.

EXCERPT:

Callan was a natural wingman. He enjoyed scouting for women who conveyed interest in being approached. He looked forward to making small talk with them, getting to know them and gauging their level of interest in his companion. If those women were there with friends, he was equally enthused about occupying them so his companion could take the lead with the one who interested him.

Being a wingman was an artform, and Callan prided himself on being a virtuoso at it.

“If you’re not feeling a draw to anyone,” he said, “let’s just find a couple of ladies and see how things go. There’s no rush.”

Christian made a resigned sound. “Fine. Who?”

Just then, Callan’s gaze lifted. And he saw her.

She stood near the bar in a small group, but he registered only her. His first thought was she had been made for this moonlit setting. Her dark, lustrous hair spilled over her shoulders and halfway down her back in soft curls. Her skin looked luminous against the club’s dark backdrop. The pinhole lights sparkled off her white, long-sleeved mini dress, making it glimmer like it had been dipped in ice crystals. Her long, spectacular legs ended in silver stiletto heels that likely added four inches to her already impressive height.

And she had curves for days.

As though sensing him watching her, she looked right at him. His breath caught as their eyes met. For an instant, he was lost in a sea of azure blue. Nothing else existed.

Her red lips rose in a sultry smile before she turned back to the group beside her. The loss of her attention brought Callan’s surroundings back into focus in a snap. The music once again pulsed around him. The movement of bodies on the dance floor shifted, disrupting his view of the bar. His lungs finally freed themselves.

Christian leaned closer as though trying to figure out where Callan was staring. When he figured it out, he observed, “They’re already with those two guys.”

Callan shook his head as though waking from a trance. What the hell?

Christian’s comment had him more closely observing the group with the mystery woman as they came back into view across the dance floor. To her right was a blonde female whose face was just beyond Callen’s line of sight. She had an appealing profile, though. She was at least six inches shorter than her companion and was much more animated, waving the hand that wasn’t holding a drink as she spoke with one of the two men standing with them.

The guy the shorter female was talking to was an inch or two shorter than Callan’s mystery woman. The second was about her height. Both of the men had the look of office drones out celebrating casual Friday a day early. They were dressed similarly in jeans and untucked button-down collared shirts, their hair laden with so much styling gel that Callan saw it from across the room.

He took a few minutes to observe the group as he finished his drink. It didn’t take him long to realize something that made him smile.

His mystery woman was winging for her friend.

He saw it in how she continually redirected attention to her friend. If there was a lull in the conversation, she said something to get things moving again. She was studying her friend and watching for cues to decide whether she should extricate them or make an effort to give her friend some privacy with one of the men.

But she was breaking one of the cardinal rules of winging, Callan thought: never outshine the person you’re winging for.

“What about that group?” Christian asked, pointing to the table of women who had been watching them since they stopped walking around the room.

Callan looked from the table back to his mystery woman. She turned and once again met his gaze. Her head moved the slightest bit to her left.

His smile spread. He gave her an equally subtle nod.

“Nah,” he told Christian. “Follow me, my friend. We’re both about to get lucky.”

For the Win by Raine Thomas Blitz & Giveaway

For the Win
Raine Thomas
Publication date: July 25th, 2020
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Determination.
It’s what gets Jasmine Li out of bed every morning. She’s determined to overcome the injury that has derailed her career in ballet, the only love she’s ever known. She can’t afford to allow a baseball player to distract her, no matter how hot and persistent he might be.
Commitment.
Will Campbell defines the word. It’s what makes him a successful pitcher and it’s helping him learn how to be a single dad to a little girl with plenty of trust issues. Just his luck, the one person his daughter—and his heart—finally respond to is a stubborn, sexy ballerina with plans that don’t involve relationships or children.
But Will didn’t become the best closer in the majors by giving up. He knows what he wants and what his daughter needs, and he’s going to get it. Jasmine Li has met her match…and he’s playing for the win.
EXCERPT:
The strains of some kind of classical music reached Will before he entered the room. He didn’t immediately see Katie and Jasmine. When he reached the chair he’d pulled down for himself, he saw them standing at the barre, facing the mirror.
He was pretty sure his eyes nearly plopped out of his head.
Jasmine was performing a standing split. Her long legs, now covered in tights rather than the baggy pants, made one straight vertical line. Her right hand grasped the barre while her left hand grasped her calf in the air, leaving her torso curved in an elegant arch.
“So that’s the second position stretch,” Jasmine said, lowering her leg. “But as I said, that will come later. Our barre work will be much more basic to start.”
She spotted him as he dropped down into his chair. He did his best to close his gaping mouth.
“All done?” she asked.
“Yep.”
Thank God she didn’t ask him anything else. He wasn’t sure he’d be able to find his voice again.
Jesus. She was magnificent.
There was no doubt Jasmine was a beautiful woman. She had dark, lustrous hair, a flawless porcelain complexion, high cheekbones, and almond-shaped brown eyes that hinted at Asian heritage somewhere in the mix. She was lithe and slender, her every movement a study in grace and precision.
And she had fucking killer legs.
Sure, she was beautiful. But now…good lord. Those tights and that leotard showed him just what her baggy clothes had been hiding. Combined with the refinement of her movements, it had his body responding in a completely unexpected way.
Which was crazy, he told himself, since her poise and control were the two traits he had initially disliked about her the most.
Life could sure be ironic.
He shook off his reaction and returned his focus to the lesson, doing his best to look only at Katie. He pulled out his phone and used his camera, both to take pictures and capture some video. His dad was going to want to see them later.
The lesson went over the hour by nearly twenty minutes. Will hadn’t even registered how much time had passed. Having the opportunity to watch his daughter learn something that made her happy had the time passing in a blink.
“I know going through the moves and positions is repetitive,” Jasmine said as she and Katie sat to change their shoes. “But these are building blocks to learning routines.”
Katie nodded sagely. It had Will’s lips twitching in amusement, especially when he observed how she was mimicking Jasmine’s posture and mannerisms.
“It seems you enjoyed yourself, huh, kiddo?” he said, walking over to her and giving her bun a gentle tug.
She smiled and nodded.
“Would you like to do this again?” Jasmine asked her.
Another nod, this one more vigorous.
Jasmine also smiled. The genuineness of it made her attractive on a whole other level. It revealed to him that she wasn’t just polished, poised, and aloof. There was passion inside her just waiting to be ignited.
Five minutes later, he locked Giuseppe’s doors and walked with Jasmine to the back of the Jeep so he could load the barre for her. She reached past him to toss her gym bag into the back and he caught her scent, something lightly floral and utterly feminine that once again made his libido take notice. And when she reached up, untwisted her hair tie, and released her glorious dark hair so it spilled down between her shoulder blades, there was even a moment where he forgot how to breathe.
“Call or text me when you’re ready to schedule another lesson,” she said as she closed the Jeep’s rear hatch.
“Sure,” he managed. Then, remembering he hadn’t paid her, he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet. He handed her the hundred dollars plus an extra twenty for the additional time she’d given them. “Thanks again for doing this.”
“It was my pleasure.”
He and Katie waved her off and then climbed into his truck to head home. As he started the engine and backed out of the parking spot, he took a moment to reflect on how the lesson had gone.
He had started it with serious reservations about working with Jasmine because he hadn’t thought she would be invested in Katie, and he quite frankly hadn’t liked her very much. Now here he was ninety minutes later, having serious reservations about working with her for the exact opposite reasons.
He wasn’t at all sure what to do about that. When he’d come up with this idea, he’d had some expectation that he’d have to help protect Katie’s heart from being broken if this didn’t work out.
What the hell was he going to do to protect his own?

Excerpt #3

Thirty minutes later, she finally arrived at the restaurant. Between traffic and the unfamiliar area of town, it took her longer than she expected to get there. She thought she had given herself extra time, but she was still five minutes late. When she pulled up, she found herself at a valet stand. Rolling down her window, she flagged the valet who eyed her car as though it had just broken down at his feet. He approached with notable reluctance.
Waving at the twenty-dollar valet fee posted on a nearby folding sign, she asked, “Is there self-parking?”
“No, ma’am,” he replied stiffly.
She swallowed and nodded, getting out of her car so he could park it. She only had twenty dollars in cash, and she had intended to pay for her lunch with it. She knew the bank account was low until she got paid again on Friday, but she’d have to risk debiting her meal. Why hadn’t she thought to set some parameters when Cole suggested the restaurant?
Her headache ballooned as she hurried through the front door of the restaurant and looked around without spotting Cole. Frowning, she approached the maître d.
“Miss Wallace?” he greeted her.
Surprised, she nodded.
“Welcome. Mr. Parker is waiting at your table. It would be my pleasure to escort you there. May I take your coat?”
Damn. She probably couldn’t even afford the free bread at this place.
Giving the maître d a wan smile, she shrugged out of her coat, putting her gloves in the pockets and wrapping her scarf around one of her purse straps. She was sure she was imagining it, but she swore the maître d held her Target-brand garment a few inches away from his body as he turned to hand it off to whoever guarded the coat room.
Shifting uncomfortably when he gave her a quick once-over and lingered disapprovingly on her jeans, she took a deep breath and followed him into the dining room. There wasn’t anything she could do about how she was dressed, was there?
Lord, what a hot mess this was.
As she spotted Cole across the dining room at a table with a beautiful view of the outside terrace, another thought occurred to her. How should she greet him? Should she shake his hand since this was a business meeting? Go in for the awkward hug since she was good friends with his brother?
Bow because he looked like a god in his simple black V-neck sweater and gray pants?
She caught his gaze when she was still about ten feet from the table. A variety of expressions crossed his features, so many that she couldn’t read them all. She definitely caught irritation, though, and was puzzled when he ended up smiling.
OhGodOhGodOhGod…
He stood up. The maître d deposited her with a slight bow, so she ruled out that form of greeting. Then it was just her and Cole.
“Hello, Everly,” he said, his voice as smooth as a buttered biscuit.
“Hi.”
Had that been her voice that came out all breathy? She prayed it hadn’t sounded as ridiculous as she thought.
She started to lift her right hand for a shake, then realized he was tilting in for the awkward hug. To avoid hitting him in the crotch, she adjusted her trajectory. He smoothly used his left hand to continue her forward motion so that her hand ended up encircling his neck.
Then before she knew what was happening, her lips were pressed against his.
