Book Blitz & Giveaway for Love and Other Cures for the Recently Undead by H.J. Ramsay

Love and Other Cures for the Recently Undead
H.J. Ramsay
Publication date: October 6th 2026
Genres: New Adult, Post-Apocalyptic, Romance

CeCe Campbell wakes on the asphalt of a mall parking lot with two missing years and a body that no longer feels like her own. Infected with the Kill Virus on her 18th birthday, she’s among the first to be cured.

Rehabilitation teaches CeCe how to walk, how to speak, how to exist in a world rebuilding itself, but it cannot return what she lost. Her mother is dead. Her brother is missing. And the last memory before the dark is a bite she cannot escape.

When CeCe unexpectedly meets Derrick—the boy who infected her—she’s torn between anger and a strange, undeniable connection. Derrick doesn’t remember what he did. CeCe does, and the truth of that moment is something he’ll never get. Not when he already took everything from her.

But if there’s to be life after the cure, CeCe will have to unwind the past, face what happened the night that bound them together, and decide if love and forgiveness can heal wounds deeper than the ones left by the undead.

Love and Other Cures for the Recently Undead is a haunting post-apocalyptic love story about guilt, survival, and choosing connection in a world where nothing can be undone.

EXCERPT:

CeCe opens her mouth to ask for a ride, but by the time she gets the words out, Savannah is already jumping into the van. Her aunt pulls away from the curb.

Derrick looks toward the van and then at CeCe. He smiles. It’s probably meant to be charming, but she finds nothing about him appealing.

He steps toward her.

Why did she insist on walking home? If her dad was here, she’d already be in his car. Now she has to find a way around Derrick. Or maybe she doesn’t. She could wait him out. He’ll have to leave eventually.

CeCe turns back to the school. Just as she’s about to reach for the door, it swings open and Olivia slithers out. They’re so close that CeCe can see every strand of Olivia’s bangs—and something underneath. A scar? Does that mean Olivia isn’t a Survivor? She’ll have to think about that later. Not now.

Olivia inches to the side. The moment she’s out of the way, CeCe lunges for the handle, but it shuts before she can grab it. She yanks. It doesn’t budge. The damn thing’s on auto-lock.

CeCe presses her forehead against the locked door. Did Olivia do that on purpose? Knowing it would leave her trapped out here? She senses Olivia’s stare crawling over her—and Derrick’s.

She can’t deal with this. Can’t deal with them. Her hand clamps around the latch, unable to move. She just wants to go home.

“Hi again,” she hears Derrick say from behind her.

She groans. “Are you going to be here every day?”

“Ah, she speaks. I wasn’t sure if, you know, there was something wrong with your voice.”

“I speak,” she snaps as she turns, half expecting to see Olivia standing beside him, but she’s already down the stairs, heading toward the same rumbling truck. At least that’s one problem solved.

Megan Linski
Publication date: September 11th 2026
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Young Adult

USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Megan Linski paints a hallmark to grief in this story of a heartbreaking best friend break up that’s emotionally unforgettable.

Aria and Lucky are two best friends who managed to survive high school, though not everyone did. They live in a small town that’s determined to destroy everyone’s dreams, but when they’re together, the two girls soar. The adults in their lives swear there’s no way out of their tiny hometown, but Aria and Lucky promise each other they’re going to run away together, believing the music they make is going to change the world.

Until one of them leaves, and the other stays. Aria finds herself looking back on her past, struggling to find where she belongs in a place that wishes to stomp out her light. Lucky’s rise and fall is brighter than a supernova, dazzling and destroying whatever it touches.

Then the unthinkable happens, and their friendship is left in the remnants of what comes after.

Lucky promised Aria forever. But forever turns out to be far shorter than either of them thought it could be.

An honest, endearing novel, My Best Four Years is a devastating portrayal of the power of unconditional friendship, and the loss that is felt when those we love are left behind.

EXCERPT:

“Are you ready for this?” Lucky asked. The rhinestones on her guitar glimmered as she slipped the strap over her shoulder. We were behind a curtain that led to the small stage of a local bar, where a dozen patrons clattered about. We’d been selected as the headlining act for a band that played regularly on Friday nights, and we were so nervous.

Lucky’s face was pale white. I was sure mine looked the same. Our first live show. I couldn’t believe this was happening.

“It’s our time,” I said confidently. “Let’s get out there.”

The curtain was pulled aside, and we strode on stage in unison as the announcer introduced us. I took my stance at the keyboard, took a deep breath, and began to sing.

We started off strong, and got an enthusiastic response from the crowd during the first song. The next song was a little shaky, but the longer we played, the more confident we became, until we’d nearly gone through every song we’d created. The crowd was really getting into the music.

As I played the keyboard, somebody caught my eye from the corner of the bar. The most handsome man I’d ever seen was leaning on the counter. He might’ve been a few years older than I was. I was absolutely captivated by his appearance, so much so that I nearly missed a note on the melody.

When I met his blue eyes, he gave me a smile. I bashfully looked down when we finished the song, and we went to take a bow as we wrapped up the show. The applause in the room was so loud, I could hardly hear myself think. The curtain was drawn, and I felt shaky on my feet as I realized we’d actually done it. We’d pulled off our first performance!

“That was amazing!” Lucky cheered. “I loved every minute! The lights, the stage! It made me feel so alive!”

“It was incredible,” I gushed. “I’m so proud of us, Lucky!”

I gave her a squealing hug. We cheerfully hopped off stage, then headed to the bar to get a drink. People clapped us on the back and congratulated us as we walked through the bar, thanking us for the performance.

While we were sipping on virgin cocktails, Lucky’s phone rang. She picked it up, a huge smile spread across her face. “Hello, Carla! Yeah, we just got done! It was amazing. I wish you were here to see it…”

Her words trailed off. The smile slid off Lucky’s face. After a few moments, she nodded, and hung up the phone with a vacant gaze.

“It’s Carla,” she said. “She’s in the parking lot waiting to pick me up. She says we have to talk.”

Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him

Review of Wellsy and Garrett’s Story: A Heartfelt Journey of Healing and Love

Wellsy (Hannah) and Garrett’s story is a deeply moving romance that navigates the complex terrains of emotional wounds, trust, and redemption. Rooted in contemporary romance, this plot explores how two seemingly opposite people find solace and strength in each other’s presence. This review delves into what makes their journey so compelling—a blend of humor, raw vulnerability, and emotional growth that resonates long after the last page is turned.

From the outset, the book hooks the reader with its engaging plot and lively banter between Garrett and Wellsy. Garrett’s relentless determination is both endearing and amusing, often sparking laughter through his comical interactions with Hannah. Their chemistry breathes life into the story, balancing lightheartedness with the profound need for healing. The vivid personalities of the characters and the contrast between Garrett’s cheerful tenacity and Hannah’s guarded wariness create a dynamic that feels authentic and relatable.

The characters stand out as one of the plot's greatest strengths. Garrett’s evolution is particularly notable; initially perceived by some as a carefree playboy, he reveals layers of emotional depth and unwavering commitment throughout the story. His patience and unconditional love not only nurture Hannah’s fragile trust but also add a swoon-worthy charm that fans of romance will appreciate. Meanwhile, Hannah’s journey from trauma to tentative hope is portrayed with sensitivity. Her guarded nature and wit make her both lovable and realistic.

Complementing the leads is a well-crafted supporting cast, especially Garrett’s father, whose storyline introduces a poignant subplot that adds complexity and weight to the broader narrative. The emotional stakes are high, but the story is never bogged down by sorrow; instead, moments of humor—such as a particularly hilarious team locker room scene—offer priceless.

The pacing is skillfully managed, allowing readers to experience the full spectrum of emotions: laughter, heartbreak, and ultimately, hope. The way the author handles themes of pain and healing without letting them define the characters’ futures is refreshing and inspiring. It’s a celebration of resilience and the transformative power of love, anchored in thoughtful character development rather than plot contrivances.

In summary, this book is an enthralling romance that blends heartfelt emotion with genuine humor and relatable characters. Readers seeking a story that balances depth with entertainment will find themselves captivated. Fans of character-driven love stories complicated by past traumas and personal growth will particularly appreciate Garrett and Wellsy’s narrative. While it might not suit those looking for purely light or escapist reads, anyone open to a poignant yet uplifting love story will find this a rewarding experience.

As the story closes with anticipation for the next installment, focusing on Garrett’s teammates, one can’t help but wonder: how will these newly introduced characters further enrich this beautifully woven world of friendship, love, and healing? This promising continuation is sure to keep readers coming back for more.

EXCERPT:

The simulation brings me back with a jolt. I land on the floor on all fours, choking on the saltwater burning my throat. Like before, once my brain catches up with reality, all the pain goes away. I hang my head and breathe easy.

If that isn’t a miserable attempt, I don’t know what is. Ry passed this level on her first try. This military stuff came naturally to her. When we were kids, the placement test put Ry and me in the Military Sector, but I never belonged or excelled the way she did.

The sleek white walls shine bright around me. Seconds later, Captain Weston’s boots come into view. When I glance up, he cocks an eyebrow at me with both hands braced on his hips. He blows out a breath, and I swear a tinge of pity flashes across his face.

“I didn’t pass your test.” I sit back on my ankles, shaking uncontrollably.

“Everyone dies in the simulation. You did better than I expected.” He scratches the stubble on his chiseled jaw. “But I do have my work cut out for me.”

“Am I in?” I meet his gaze.

“Have you talked to anyone since the accident?”

The accident? My jaw clenches.

“No.” I assume he means cadets from my unit. To Captain Weston, Valorek and his friends didn’t count.

“Good.” He clears his throat. “Because I have a proposal for you.”

When I open my mouth to speak, he brings his index finger to his lips and shakes his head once. Of course, he doesn’t want to hear about how Ry’s death wasn’t an accident. We have been doing the same song and dance for weeks. This time, I do as he asks and keep quiet, but only because it looks like I am about to get what I want—an opportunity to join the Queen’s immortal army, where I’ll have the ability to look into Ry’s murderer myself.

“You need something from me.” I meet his gaze.

“We need you to take your sister’s place as a lieutenant in the Queen’s army. You still need a lot of training before you can join Ry’s unit, but we have a bit of time.”

“Wait. What?” I gape at him as my heart thrashes in my ears. “That is not what I wanted at all.”

“I gave it some thought.” He swallows. “It’s all I can offer. It’s the only solution, really.”

“Do you have any idea how insane this sounds?” I scoff. “Ry told me everything about the QEC simulator seven years ago. This was the easy part and I still died. How am I supposed to be her when I know nothing about her world? She had her own life outside of me.”

“That’s why I’m here. I’ll be your guide.” His eyes soften.

“So what, Captain Weston? Do I now get to call you Cap or Eli?”

“You can call me whatever you want.” He offers a crooked, sexy smile. “In fact, I think that if you call me Eli in private, the transition will be easier for you.”

“Eli?” I meant to be sarcastic, but he is completely serious with his answer.
