Roman and Tate's story was just an okay read for me. I liked the characters enough, but something was missing; I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe not enough intrigue to grab my attention.
I did like the characters, but I never fell in love with any of them, and I can say we never saw those twists coming. Tate and Roman are complete opposites: Tate, the lightbringer, and Roman, the darkness, but Tate's light brings changes in Roman never seen before, and I felt Tate's goodness and light rubbed off on everyone around him.
The chemistry between Roman and Tate was off the charts. I like it when you see a dark, dangerous character fall hard and fast and realize they can have a softer side when they meet the right person.
Roman never expects Tate, and vice versa; their chemistry and connection were just too hard to fight. After all that death and destruction that had been part of Roman's life for a long time, it was heartwarming to see him find some peace and be truly happy, something that had never been part of his old life.

This ended up being a great conclusion to the series. We were sorry to see it concluded, but it had an intriguing plot of who was pulling the strings behind the scenes. The question needing an answer is whether it is one person or more parties involved in determining who EvanAnn's stalker is. The fact that the author kept us guessing, going back and forth between characters, trying to eliminate suspects, was exciting.
The characters were fantastic, Damon, the more dominant character in the series, who is protective, obsessive, and one who always needs to be in control, although Hawk and Cam share some of those qualties there less rough around the edges. If a poly relationship was going to work, EvanAnn and her men were a prime example of one that could. The parents of this trio, learning of their relationship, could have added to the burden they were already carrying with who is after EvanAnn. We are glad how things worked out between the families.
If you are looking for a why choose series, we found this one to be fantastic. It was intriguing and suspenseful, had a whodunit feel to it, filled with love, laughter, growth of one's characters, filled with emotion and healing, witty banter, and a cast of wonderful characters.
The chemistry between this trio is off the charts hot, and those sexy scenes that take place in and out of the bedroom are fan-worthy. This was another awesome read, and we were glad that we came across this series and this author, as they are new to us.
Our final thoughts are on who was our favorite character, and that would be Damon, although it was really hard to choose. His devotion to his girl was intoxicating, heartwarming, and what really put him over the top of others were all those little snacks/meals that Damon made for his woman; those flower gifts were just as impressive, making us go awe...
The epilogue was perfect; we loved seeing into the life they created together, without any of them sacrificing their hopes and dreams. If anything, we saw nothing but enrichment, love, and the beautiful life they created together.

What a thrilling read this turned out to be, the mystery, suspense, the twists and turns turned out to be a mind-blowing read. The plot reads like a psychological thriller. We were engrossed in the pages from beginning to end. We could not put it down; we finished it in one sitting.
The characters were fantastic. Irwin, for his brutal honesty, who and what he was, made no excuses, and what he was capable of, and never lied to Lilac about the real him. It is a see what you get kind of thing. The man was calculated and clever, and some may even call him a psychopath. There was never any doubt in our minds that he loved Lilac and would give his life to protect her, even giving his own. Is his love twisted and sick, controlling and wrong, or just the way he goes about showing it?
Lilac is drawn to danger and darkness, a thrill seeker; her sexual passions and fantasies attract her to a bad boy like Irwin. Lilac was and a emotional hot mess in this plot, which you can kind of guess from the mind games that go on between husband and wife. When outside forces intrude, its a whole other ball game. The witty banter is super hot, and it's not the laughing kind its more of a dueling kind. The chemistry between them is pure fire, and their sexual interludes are off-the-charts hot.
The other characters also play an important part in this story, and we loved getting to know them. Speaking of characters, Lilac was complicated. She was secretive and had her demons, and some might feel sorry for all she endured, yet if she was honest with herself, the good girl craves the darkness as well. Lilac did disappoint in one aspect, and that was that she did not trust her husband when it counted the most. No matter how twisted and messed up their love life seemed, he was brutally honest about what was asked of him by society, and she knew all and still chose to betray him when push came to shove, without even giving him the benefit of the doubt.
We enjoyed this plot; its intensity, brutally raw emotions, and its complicated characters. The fact that Irwin was willing to give his life for the woman he loved spoke volumes about going against society's rules and regulations, knowing you could pay with your life for love. We loved it.
PS. Please heed the warnings in this dark romance and its triggers, as there are many, as this story was a dark and twisted love story.
