As the VP of Kings of Retribution MC, I live and breathe club life. After suffering the loss of two women in my life, I grew cold and indifferent to the idea of love. I don't need to let anyone in. I've seen the aftermath it can leave in its quake.

The last thing I'm looking for is someone to fill the void.
Until - Bella Jameson
Struggling to keep my head above water, my only concern is taking care of my sister. The last thing I expected was to fall in love with a tattooed biker, Logan Kane. With evil hiding in the shadows, I have no idea the danger my sister and I are about to face.
Will they overcome their demons in the end, or will they lose each other in the process? Lies will be told, secrets will be revealed, and what was once lost... will be found.

Let's start off by saying this is a brand new author's for us and we loved the story from cover to cover.Their first debut novel started off with a big bang and a whopping cliffhanger.I have to say my mouth was hanging open saying OMG what just happened at the end of the Epilogue.I am one of those readers that despises reading books with cliffhangers.I am the kind of reader who likes to dive into a series and as soon as I finish the first one I am on to the next or patiently waiting  and hoping the next book comes out in a timely matter. That being said the ending was brilliant as It left you wanting more and anticipating the next in the series anxiously.

When I say I loved the story from cover to cover I meant it .I never put the book down and if I left a room my kindle went with me and I stayed up all night finishing it giving me a sleepless night but it was well worth it.

I love when you can connect with the characters that you read about and I was able to do that with Bella and Logan and even Alba as I am so much like her as I always have my face in a book to.When this happens I know then I am going to love the book and I did just that. The characters just sucked you right in.I loved the plot and the suspense as well as the chemistry that Bella and Logan had together as they were smoking hot together but, most of all they were two of the sweetest characters I have ever read about.

I normally pick a favorite character to rave about but, this time around it was just way to hard to just pick one.Bella was bright, loving, caring ,protective, determined, loyal, sweet, and when she chooses to love someone she loves with her whole heart.I loved the lengths she was willing to go to  protect her sister and what she was willing to do to make that happen all without even giving any thought to her own safety.I love strong characters that are strong and independent but, not to the point when your own safety is at risk. She was way to stubborn at times but thank god reasoning won out .

Logan what a hottie! Hot and dangerous,as well as sweet and kind and not your typical biker.I loved how protective and patient and kind he was  when he was when dealing with Bella.Overall a sweet and gentle soul but, don't get me wrong when Bella is threatened in any way all bets are off and his dangerous side comes out of hiding.I have to say I was a little bit in love with Logan myself he was definitely swoon worthy....I loved how from the onset of meeting Bella the sparks started to fly and how he instantly became protective of her .Even with all this happening he chooses to kept Bella at arms length but, he soon realizes its and impossible task and he needs to make a claim before someone snatches her up.I loved how he kind of took charge and told her she was always to text him when she was safely home.Their texts to one another each night were simple but super sweet.God alpha men turn me on!

Overall the story was amazing and had everything we love ,a sweet romance with amazing main characters as well as the secondary ones like Jake and Gabriel .The chemistry this couple had made for some serious hot scenes and had them burning up the sheets behind closed doors, had some major twists and turns, and was a bit suspenseful with a villainous character we love to hate as well. The story kept you on edge the entire time and kept you turning the pages as the villain was so evil you never new what evil plot he would think up next to acquire what he considered his. Boy I was rooting for this characters comeuppance from the onset of meeting him and hoping he pays for all the horrible things he has done and wanting a piece of him myself he was just that evil.

We loved it and the we can't wait to read Gabriel and Alba story. It cant get here soon enough!

About SJ McCoy

Hi, I’m SJ, a coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I’m a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can’t write without coffee. I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non-fiction for many years. My life changed completely a few of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape. I write ‘Sweet N Steamy’ stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write. These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I’m not reading or writing you’ll find me just down the road in the park – Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)

book blurb

When twenty-somethings Molly Kidd and Ryan Murphy formed a startup company in Seattle three years ago, they agreed that they were perfect for each other—as business partners.

Molly made the rules: they will never date each other, they will never talk about their personal lives, they will never visit each other’s homes. Fortunately, they have so much fun spending so much time working together at the office that they barely have time to do or talk about anything else anyway.

Now that it’s winter and everyone at their small successful company is overworked and grumpy, Murphy gets this crazy idea that they should all take a work vacation at a resort in Hawaii. Yes, the woman who organizes the workations at this resort happens to be gorgeous, but Murphy believes it will benefit the whole team to have more work-life balance.

Molly refuses to admit that she’s intimidated by the thought of the most important guy in her life falling for this perfect lady, so she agrees to the trip despite being equally uncomfortable with the idea of relaxing in a bikini in front of her coworkers.

Turns out it’s impossible to draw a line between business and pleasure in the sands of Oahu, and giving in to temptation could lead Molly and Murphy to lose more than just their hearts. But would it be worth it?

THE WORKATION is a standalone, the first in the Work Less, Play More series.

It’s a friends to lovers romantic comedy that works!

excerpt

Murphy

When we land, I turn on my phone and receive twenty-seven text messages. One is from Amelia, one is from Molly. I read the one from Molly first, in case there’s some kind of business emergency that came up in the last sixty seconds that I don’t know about. It’s this weird passive-aggressive message about Amelia and tacos and sausages. Now I understand why she never wanted to discuss personal stuff. She’s mean and insane.

I look back to her row. She’s pretending to be fast asleep. Or maybe she’s really asleep. But how else would she have sent me a text as soon as we landed?

Here’s the text from Amelia: Aloha! Hope you had an amazing flight. Excited to see you and your coworkers when you arrive at the resort!

Okay so it’s not flirtatious in any way, but at least it is what it is and I don’t have to question it. I guess I love things with Molly the way they’ve always been and we shouldn’t complicate that. She’s right.

I write Amelia back: Aloha! Can’t wait to see you.

Boom. Not flirtatious, but straightforward. As it should be.

The ding alerts us that we can unfasten our seatbelts. Chuck finally moves his big head so A.J. and I can see out the window, now that there’s not much to see. It’s still magic hour and I can’t wait to get out and feel the warm air. I look back at Molly again. Olive is helping her to stand up while Scooter gets her bag from the overhead bin. She’s staring at me, all smile-y and angelic-looking. Actually she’s a little cross-eyed. She may be drunk. And not actually staring at me.

“What’s up with Molly?” A.J. seems to be genuinely concerned. “Why does she look so happy?”

Chuck takes a look. “Looks like a mellow two-pill benzo high to me. Lightweight.”

I don’t want to know why it’s so easy for him to diagnose a woman’s high-ness, but I have never seen Molly Kidd under the influence of a drug (as far as I know). I grab my overhead bag, let Chuck and A. J. out, hang back at my seat and wait for her to reach me. Olive is basically propping her up from behind and coaxing her forward. I wait for Molly’s eyes to focus on me. When they do, she smiles so beautifully I almost feel my heart jump out of my chest.

“Hey you,” she says, her eyes blink once, slowly. She rests her head on my chest, somehow smelling good even after spending six hours on a plane. “I missed you.”

I clear my throat. “Hey there, champ. Guess you had a nice flight, huh?” I nod at Olive and take over propping Molly up and moving her forward so we don’t hold up the line of people waiting to disembark.

“I had a dream about you…” she says in a sing-song voice.

“Oh yeah? A business dream?”

She snort-laughs. “Yes!” She suddenly stops and turns around to look at me, all wobbly and serious. I hold onto her arm with my free hand. “You’re a dream, Murph. You. Are the dream.” People at the back of the line start to grumble and complain. She raises her arm up, gives them the finger, spins forward and walks ahead like a toddler. The flight attendant at the door reaches out to steady her. “I’m fine,” she says. “I’m totally fine.”

I’m not fine. Now I have no idea what to think. I turn my head back towards Olive, who keeps stopping in her tracks so Scooter will bump up against her. “What is that, a two-benzo high?”

“Yeah. What a lightweight. I don’t think I’ve seen her this relaxed in…”

“Ever.” Olive, Scooter and I say it at the same time.

Author’s Take on Avery Lane from ROANOKE VANISHING
By Auburn Seal

Avery Lane is the modern-day main character in Roanoke Vanishing. She was really fun to explore as a character. She is very focused and determined about things that she is passionate about, often at the detriment of her relationships. Her research, and obsession with history, becomes the reason her relationship ends with her high school sweetheart. Avery absolutely has a one-track mind and because of that, she can come across as a little shallow.
They are examples all through this novel of her putting her work ahead of her friends. She actually feels things very deeply, but buries it. She runs from her emotions and refuses to deal with them. When she throws herself head long into a project, it's because she doesn't want to face the reality of grief or fear in her life. By focusing on the past and the people who lived there, she is able to displace her own emotions.
Unfortunately for her, the people of history that she comes to know so well have suffered very difficult hardships and so she is forced to deal with these emotions one way or another.
Avery eats constantly. It's her thing. Part of her routine. I had a lot of fun developing that part of her. We all have something we do to feel better, to cope and characters in books are no different. It certainly didn't hurt my feelings to research different restaurants!
My goal with Avery is for her to find a way to save herself. To show that people, women in particular, can be damaged in some way—emotionally stunted--and still be strong.
In some ways, some of myself sneaks into Avery's character. I tend to stuff my emotions instead of dealing with them. Also, I'm fairly determined like Avery and have a love of history. But she is also a mash-up of other people. Complex characters are best and we will learn much more about Avery in subsequent books as she faces additional challenges that force her to deal with some of her trauma.
