Book & Giveaway for The Stone Initiation by Debbie Cassidy

The Stone Initiation
Debbie Cassidy
(Gargoyles of Stonehaven, #1)
Publication date: May 11th, 2023
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

There’s no place for a half blood at the gargoyle table.

I’ve been a shameful secret all my life. Shunned by my pureblood gargoyle father to keep up appearances. But it never mattered because I had Romi.

My half-brother. My best friend. My true family.

Until death took him from me.

They say it was an accident. I say that’s bull.

They’re hiding something, and the only way to get to the truth is to step into Romi’s world.

Stonehaven Academy is where Romi worked with his elite guard to hone the next generation of warriors, and it’s where I’ll find my answers.

A world where I’ll be pitted against pureblood gargoyles and not expected to survive. A world of secrets, revelations, and forbidden fruit in the form of Serath—the lethally beautiful sigma leader of the elite team.

If I want answers, I’ll need to get close to the sigma. I’ll need to play with fire and be prepared to get burned.

But there’s a reason Serath is off limits.

A reason, that could mean the difference between life and death.

Because the Stone Council is hiding a horrific truth.

One, that if revealed, could tear our world apart.

The Stone Initiation is the first book in the Gargoyles of Stonehaven series. A Paranormal MF Romance featuring a strong female lead and a sizzlingly tempting gargoyle hero.

EXCERPT:

I leapt back as something large and gray swooped at me, and the next moment I was in its grip, boots off the ground and airborne.

“Cam!” My friends’ cries drifted away as every sense in my body focused on the thing…the creature that had me in his grip.

Serath held me against his body. Thick muscled arms crushing me to him.

“Don’t struggle,“ he said. “I don’t want to drop you.”

Struggle? I couldn’t think, let alone struggle. His woodsy scent, his arms around me, his body pressed to mine…

Overload.

“Breathe,” he said with a soft chuckle. “Just breathe.”

I hated him for hurting Touron. I wanted to punch him in the face to even things out. I’d do that as soon as he put me down. As soon as he let me go.

That was right.

That was the plan.

I exhaled and inhaled in quick succession then regretted it because his delicious aroma flooded my mind and my traitorous body melted against him.

He cursed under his breath, the word vibrating against me like an intimate invitation.

We landed in a clearing, nature pressing in around us, cocooning us as he continued to hold me. His heart beat like a drum against me.

I was so mad at him. So pissed off. Oh god, this felt good. It felt right. I rubbed my cheek against his pectoral, and he made a soft vibrating sound like a purr.

What was I doing? “What are you doing?”

“Having this moment,” he said, his voice a low-grade rumble.

I lifted my chin to look up at his monstrous gargoyle face. To trace the strong lines that made up the features that were both frightening and compellingly beautiful. The combination made my heart ache, and the urge to reach up and trace his scar rushed through me so strongly that my fingers were hovering at his jaw before I managed to catch myself.

I clenched my fists. I was here for a reason, and this…This wasn’t it. This was hormonal, pheromonal, needy body bullshit. “You hurt my friend.”

“I know. I’m sorry.”

Dammit, why wasn’t he being an asshole? I grit my teeth. “Tell him that.”

“I will. I swear it. I will. And after this moment.” His throat bobbed. “After this moment, I’ll stay away from you. I won’t touch you. I won’t covet you. I’ll let you be. I just…I need this one moment.”

There was an aching throb to his words that echoed inside me. My eyes heated with the threat of tears that made no sense. I swallowed past the lump in my throat. I didn’t want to mate with him. I didn’t need a fated lover, but my body didn’t seem to agree. It yearned for him. Longed to stay here, like this. Enveloped in his heat, so even though I didn’t want it, I found myself asking.

“Why? Why can’t you—”

He gripped my jaw and forced my head up. “Don’t ask it. Never ask it.”

Release & Review for Strange and Unusual Battle Crows MC, Book by Lani Lynn Vale

Strange and Unusual

Battle Crows MC, Book

Lani Lynn Vale

Release Date: August 23, 2022

About the Book

The moment he divorced his ex-wife, Jeremiah decided two things.

One, he would never, ever get into that kind of situation again—i.e., marriage.

Two, he would spend more time doing what he loved—baking, riding motorcycles, spending time with the Battle Crows MC, and getting some quiet time for just himself. Pretty much doing the things he enjoyed, that his ex-wife could no longer ruin.

And, months after his divorce was final, he’s held strong.

He hasn’t gotten entangled with a woman. He’s opened his own bakery. And he’s never been closer to his club.

It has to be why he allowed them to have a massive club party at his place, which became the cause of Gracelynn Barry entering his life.

If he’d known Gracie was going to be his employee, he definitely wouldn’t have slept with her.

Yet, there he is, in the middle of an interview, finding out not only was the woman he slept with the most viable applicant for a job he very much needed filled, but that she’d recently broken up with the man he loathed. The second reason he’d divorced his ex-wife. Erich. His ex-stepson.

To say life is simple for Jeremiah would be a joke of epic proportions.

It’s time for him to buckle up.

Wow, and OMG! At the same time, that is what this story was for us. Loved GraceLynn and Jeremiah as a couple as they had so much in common and an easiness in the way they talked to one another and interacted with one another that is rare but, super cool awesome.

The story is pretty straight forward in the fact it flows with the characters learning and discovering things about themselves and others but, with a few major twists coming, one you might have anticipated but, the other not in a million years.

The story had as always amazing characters we loved the Battle Crow MC and their women, and we loved seeing more of Bram and Dory getting to know the woman better, and we are already seeing a different side to her in the brief glimpses we were given but, Gracelynn we absolutely loved she turned out to be one of our top favorite characters of this series.

The ending was everything we hoped for Gracelynn and Jeremiah is one lucky man, he found a diamond in the rough as the saying goes...

EXCERPT:

She opened the door and stepped inside.

“Oh!” She started at the sight of another person inside the fridge, and her foot rammed into something on the floor. “What are you—” she began to ask.

The other person turned. “The door!” Luke shouted. Charlotte gasped and pivoted, pushing out with her empty hand to stop the door from closing, but she was too late. It closed with a heavy clank.

She glanced down, and in the dim light inside the cooler, she saw a brick near the door. It must have been propping it open while he was in here, and she’d accidentally kicked it out of the way.

She set her chocolate molds on a shelf and pushed on the door handle. It didn’t budge.

“Damn it,” Luke growled, striding across the small space. He rattled the handle, but the door didn’t open for him either.

Crap. “We’re locked in,” she said.

He nodded.

“Inside an industrial refrigerator.”

He nodded again.

“The two of us.”

Luke slowly pivoted to face her. “Did you do this on purpose?” he asked, his voice hard.

“What?” Charlotte stared at him. “Are you freaking kidding me?” She shivered. It was damn cold in here, and about to get colder.

“No, are you freaking kidding me?” he retorted, leaning toward her. In the dim light, his eyes glittered with barely suppressed fury.

Charlotte shivered again. “Of course I didn’t do it on purpose,” she shouted. “If I wanted to trap you in an icebox of death, don’t you think I’d make sure I was on the other side of the door?”

She glared, and their eyes dueled for what seemed like an eternity. Charlotte’s neck began to protest her sustained glare with someone a foot taller, so she dropped her eyes and stepped back. Shivering, she wrapped her arms around herself. She’d left her light jacket in the interns’ office and didn’t even have the extra protection of her apron, since that was sitting at her workstation in the main part of the kitchen.

Damn, it was wickedly cold in there.

Luke banged on the door with his fist and hollered. They both waited in silence to see if anyone would come. Aside from the whir of the fridge’s motor, there was no sound.

“They’re all downstairs, eating lunch,” Charlotte murmured. It was unlikely anyone would be back in the kitchen for an hour since Simone had told them to take their time after working so hard during the morning session.

“Damn,” Luke said, still facing the door. His breath puffed out in a cloud. It had grown even colder once the temperature stabilized with the door shut.

Charlotte’s teeth began to chatter. “I’m s-sorry.”

He turned around.

“I d-didn’t realize about the b-brick,” she added. Damn, it was painfully cold. Her fingertips were growing numb.

His eyes scanned her body. “We could freeze to death.” He sounded almost clinical, but she shivered in response to the heated look in his eyes anyway. A shiver on top of a shiver. God, she was pathetic.

“W-what do we do?” she asked. “Jog in p-place?”

They both trotted where they stood. Luke rubbed his hands together. Charlotte tucked hers under her arms. Their breaths came out in white puffs.

“It’s not enough,” he said grimly after a moment. “I think there’s only one option.”

“You’ll s-sacrifice yourself so I c-can pull a Luke Skywalker and climb inside your steaming abdominal cavity?”

He narrowed his eyes.

She shrugged with a whatcha-gonna-do expression. If you couldn’t make Star Wars jokes as you were literally freezing to death, when could you?

He took a step closer, his arms opening.

Charlotte’s eyes widened, and she took a step back. “W-what are you d-doing?”

“We h-have to share body heat.” Now Luke’s teeth were chattering too.

Charlotte swallowed. Could she do it? Could she wrap herself in the embrace of her sworn nemesis, the evilest man on the planet? Well, there were convicted murderers locked away for life, so the evilest man in the building perhaps?

She shuddered with cold. A sharp ache worked its way through her skin and muscle into her sinew, her veins, her very bones.

Even her brain began to feel frozen.

It seemed her options were to either allow this sexy man to wrap her up in his strong arms or to perish from turning into a human icicle. So…she supposed she would take the sexy, evil man.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

EXCERPT:

I wrote down in all capitals PEER INTERVIEW, jotting down the due date. One thing that tripped me up, though, was that Mr. V had said pairings. Meaning he’d already stuck us together with partners. I knew I wouldn’t have gotten lucky enough to be paired with Vesta, but I honestly wasn’t sure if there was another student I’d want to have to spend two weeks interviewing. Or, most likely, one week interviewing—the second week would be spent drafting that report.

“Greyson Clemon and Kristen Veracruz,” Mr. Walker called out. “Yvonne Buckley and Ella Garrett. Vesta Upperton and Kyle Casey.”

Figures. My best friend was with another easygoing, charismatic person. All kinds of unfair. She’d get someone like him, and I’d get—

I’d been looking at Mr. Walker, and I saw the moment he scanned the next pair of names, saw the moment he came up short. “Addy Arden and…” He paused, looking like he visibly swallowed. “Vincent Castello.”

Time stopped.

My whole body seemed to freeze, an iciness sweeping through my veins. It was like I’d fallen into a lake of water in the middle of winter, instantly turning into an Addy Arden popsicle.

I’d never thought about Vincent Castello before, at least not for any longer than five seconds at a time. He was a partier, definitely not my crowd. He didn’t party like Vesta partied, with a few sips from a red cup. Word was he did drugs. Had tattoos. I mean, he had a lip piercing. I’d never even looked him in the eye.

Until now.

While holding my breath, I glanced behind me and almost immediately wished I hadn’t.

He wasn’t looking at me, almost like he refused to. His dark hair hung in his eyes, lips turned down into a frown—even from here, I could see his silver lip piercing, and it made my heart skip a beat. That rumor was true, so what else was?

Just as quickly as I’d turned, I flipped back toward the front, slipping lower in my seat. Whether Vincent looked over at me or not, I had no way of really knowing, but there was no shaking the feel of eyes on the back of my head.

It wasn’t just this assignment that made me panicked. It was the fact that his dad was Carlo Castello that complicated things. A lot.

A sticky, hot feeling unfurled over me. If Vincent and I were partners for this project, that meant we’d have to talk to each other. Interview each other.

I was already near hyperventilating. No. No, no. I couldn’t do that. Not even a little bit. And I was certain Vincent wouldn’t want to either.

Mr. Walker continued down the list, but I mentally replayed the sound of Vincent’s name, my brain unable to let go.

I couldn’t help but think that Vincent’s life was entangled with mine, two pieces of string in a messy, twisted knot. I would never be able to look at him without thinking of everything that happened.

Both of our lives, forever altered by the same accident.

“The first time I laid eyes on you, I knew I was a goner. You’re the most loving, beautiful soul I’ve ever uncounted, and the sexiest man I have ever seen. You make my heart race just looking at you.”

Mike Williams knew from an early age he was joining the military. After meeting the sassy, sarcastic, and foul-mouthed Monique at a training course for the elite of the Australian Army, he was introduced to the man who would become his life and soul. Dave Harris was the most stunning man Mike had ever met. He was taken from the moment he met him, and he’d stop at nothing to have this man and make him his for the rest of his life.

After a horrific event which changed his life, Mike left the military and joined Henderson Security. Life was good; life was quiet until it wasn’t.
Can Mike keep his man’s family safe and see the man he loved happy and healthy or would he fall down on the job?

Let's start off by saying this is a fairly new author for us a we are really loving the character's that she has created for us to fall in love with.

We got a glimpse in Tiny's/Monquie's story of Dave and Mike and even then we new we were going to love them in this current story just proved us right as we loved them together and their whirlwind romance took us on a incredible ride.

Favorite passage -  "Mike Williams knew from an early age he was joining the military. After meeting the sassy, sarcastic, and foul-mouthed Monique at a training course for the elite of the Australian Army, he was introduced to the man who would become his life and soul. Dave Harris was the most stunning man Mike had ever met. He was taken from the moment he met him, and he’d stop at nothing to have this man and make him his for the rest of his life."

When Tiny told Mike about her best friend Dave she knew right off the bat that they would be perfect for one another and she was right it was lust at first sight and pretty much love at first sight. These two were incredible together as they were a fun couple in and out of bed.Mike pretty much had a dominate personality and Dave a bit submissive so they were the perfect mix for one another but, Mike pretty much new right off the bat that the only time he would he dominating Dave would be in the bedroom. lol

Dave - We found him to be a sweetheart he had an amazing personality,he was funny,love-able, sweet, kind, was an amazing friend, loved with ones whole heart, sexy, and would give the shirt off his own back to help someone in need.
"We loved him!"

Mike- We loved the dominate sexy man who was smart and focused,love-able,an amazing friend, sweet, had an upbeat personality but, with all those sweet things we say about him he is lethal and deadly as well as protective and possessive of the ones he loves.
One thing that comes to mine when thinking about Mike is that he is just swoon worthy! lol

I really loved the entire story from beginning to end.I loved the romance that went on between Mike and Dave because they were hotter then Hell when they were together and had some super hot sexual encounters that were fan worthy for sure. Lol We love that Tiny and Mike created this amazing extended family with Rock and Mary after leaving the military .We loved all those ex solider's as they had wormed their way into our heart to.The plot was also full of tons of drama, loss, love, forgiveness, healing and we got a more in depth view of what Tiny's life and the hardships she really endured but, through it all she raised three beautiful smart kids.Tiny was definitely someone we fell in love with instantly. Most of all this was just an amazing story about family and love and that it doesn't have to be one about blood alone.

We loved the book from cover to cover and all the amazing character's it had and I am loving how the Henderson Security books are mixing with the Thorny Devils those members from the Thorny Devils are a hoot!

Looking forward to our next read in this on going series.
