What an emotional roller coaster ride this story took us on. The story was also filled with danger, suspense and revenge but, also about cutting your losses and moving on. Derek and Finn will eliminate the threat to Piper's family once and for all or die trying.
My heart broke for Piper she is such a kind and loving person who for years never gave up on the belief that the love of her life was dead. Asher and Piper's love and bond was so powerful that she would know the other half was gone. So much so that she was unable to give her heart whole heartily and love to another man such as Derek even though she loved him.
We have to say that although we loved this story that read like a tragic love story we had a lot of mixed feelings on how Pipers and Asher's came to an end. It seemed to us that for Piper who had never given up on the love her life continued to make sacrifices even when she learned he was alive and learning the man she loved may be alive and look like Asher he is no longer Asher but, Finn with no memory of the man who once loved Piper with everything she had. Never getting the happy ending she only dreamed about.
We have to say we shed tears the last several chapters of this story it tore our heart out as it was the end to a tragic beautiful love story that only some dream about and the one who had made sacrifice to stay true to that love was the one who lost it all.
A page turner this story was for sure and the characters were awesome. We loved Derek who too was caught between a rock and a hard place loving two people. We were secretly rooting for him in a small way that his patience with Piper would reward him but, torn that she got the man back she so desperately loved. As the story progressed you could see where the story was going only hoping somewhere along the line that someone might get a happily ever after so much pain and suffering.
Overall this was a fantastic tale that we absolutely loved but, the crux of my mixed feelings is that we felt Piper in the end ended up being the outsider of an already developed relationship who regardless would have flourished with or without her no matter what declarations were made but, understanding in the same breath that it seems Derek is the glue who bridges them all together.
