DARK HOPE
The Devil’s Assistant, Book 1
Publisher: www.ChampagneBooks.com
Publication Date: March 3, 2014
Loving a demon isn’t the end of the world—losing him is.
Claire, the Devil’s assistant, knows very little about the world she was dropped into five years ago, when she inherited her mother’s unpaid debt to the Demon King. She certainly didn’t expect to be a contender for the Fallen Queen’s throne, a target for the Druid King’s mafia, or a suspect in the murder of Junior, the Devil’s oldest hell spawn.
In a last ditch effort to save her life and get out of her deal with the Devil, she sets out to solve Junior’s murder only to be taken prisoner by the four most dangerous immortal hell spawn alive.
Not to be out done, the Pagan Queen Mab, claims Claire for entering her realm uninvited. She has an old debt to settle with her brother the Devil. Taking Claire from him after losing her years ago is just icing on the cake.
Will Claire win her freedom, and save herself from the Devil? Or be trapped by Mab forever?

Our Author Interview
What would you have done differently if you were the main character of your book?
Nothing. My main character is very smart and tries to make the best decisions when problems present themselves, which is something I also do in real life (just on a slightly different scale).
What was your inspiration behind this book?
Imagining what it would be like to be the administrative assistant to the Devil … it just spiraled out of control from there.
Why did you become a writer?
I have to let out the crazy somehow … this seemed like a good option
Do you have a favorite author or authors?
Kim Harrison, Karen Marie Moning, Thea Harrison, Jeaniene Frost, Ilona Andrews, Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter … it can go on and on
Do you like to write your books in a continuing series?
I have a folder full of stories that will probably never be completed. Once I find a story that is working for me, I tend to want to write in that world for a while.
If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why?
Khalil, Demonkind and Djinn Prince of House Marid, from Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series … because he’s an awesome badass.
I have had a deep and abiding crush on Mr. Darcy since I was fifteen.
What kinds of books do you like to read in your spare time?
I love Urban Fantasy (of course) and Paranormal Romance. I will also read contemporary romance, but magic just makes everything more fun.
Do you cry when writing sad scenes?
I wouldn’t say that I cry, but sometimes you have to get into a very emotional place to really decided how your character might be feeling and write that.
I try not to. Someone has to keep a clear head, if it’s not the characters than I suppose it has to be me.
Did you have a Cover Designer?
Dark Hope was published by Champagne Books, so the cover designer was selected by them. For my novella, Nowhere, NJ (which I self published) I hired Sweet N’ Spicy designs (who also did my website). I originally had a more juvenile cover, but decided it needed something more gritty. I’ve also designed my own audio book cover for Dark Hope.
Who is your fictional boyfriend or girlfriend crush?
Obviously: Khalil, Demonkind and Djinn Prince of House Marid, from Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series
If you were able to dine and have a one on one with your favorite writer/author who would it be?
I’ve met a few other authors before … most of us are just regular people, but if I had to pick an author to go all fan girl on, then I’d probably pick Kim Harrison. I’d really like to know why she kills off certain characters and when she plans to have another book where Jinx is big.
Do you just re-read your favorite books?
I have re-read books before, but it isn’t often. I’ve also re-listened to a book before, but again not often. I’ll usually try new series until I find something I like.
.
Do you ever get in a reading slump like your readers do?
I am an audio-book-aholic, so my reading slumps usually happen when I can’t find a new series to start, or when I run into the point in a long series where it is just getting to repetitive (I really hate that), or when the series I’ve found isn’t completely available in audio format.
What is the funniest book you ever read?
Anything by Molly Harper. I loved her Jane Jameson Series.
