There are worse things than death, worse people too.
The “talk” was bad enough, but how many teens get told that they’re a goddess? When her mom tells her, Persephone is sure her mother has lost her mind. It isn’t until Boreas, the god of winter, tries to abduct her that she realizes her mother was telling the truth. Hades rescues her, and in order to safely bring Persephone to the Underworld he marks her as his bride. But Boreas will stop at nothing to get Persephone. Despite her growing feelings for Hades, Persephone wants to return to the living realm. Persephone must find a way to defeat Boreas and reclaim her life.
Our Review
Well any of you who follow my blog know that I am a huge fan of Greek and Norse mythology so I jumped all over reading this book. And I have to say I love being able to see Persephone as a 16 year old teenager who doesn’t even know she is a goddess. Living in the real world among us humans, but feeling like something is very wrong with her. The constant feeling of being watched and strange things happening, frost creeping up on paper, and huge gusts of winds blowing your car off a road. Yeah that would kind of weird me out to.
And who would have thought Hades was good looking. Wow a new side to him. And wait a kiss is all it takes to become the bride of Hades. WOW again a nice little twist in the story I really like it. I love how the author really spent time with the details of the underworld, the different areas, what goes on in each one, not leaving out the river Styx and Chiron and all those that are down there. Reapers included oh got to love those reapers.
I absolutely loved this book. Persephone wow that girl even after everything she goes through, with Boreas coming for her, not knowing she was a goddess, being attacked by nasty souls, and having her entire life and world turned upside down she still has spunk and fire. I loved this character and think the author did a fabulous job with her and I love how she gets under Hades skin.
And Hades wowsers I guess if you have to get stuck in the underworld then this Hades would be the one you hoped was the ruler. Good looking and a fair and just ruler. He has a hard time with Persephone at first but wow does he really turn. Subtle changes at first but eventually you see it and so does everyone else.
I loved Cassandra that girl has spunk she was so funny and such a great character. And Charon wow who knew the man who came to collect souls from across the river of fire would have a heart at least I think he does. And then there is Thanatos, he and his reapers seem to rub Cassandra the wrong way. Always had me wondering. He seems to rally care for Persephone when he is guarding her. But there is something about him that I wasn’t expecting and now I have to rush to the next book to find out if it is really true.
The characters, the souls, the reapers, the lives of these gods, goddesses, this story the daughters of Zeus series absolutely great. I loved this book off to read “Daughters of the Earth and Sky”.
