Book Excerpt :

Jaded excerpt #1 (Stephan & Scarlett conversation):

I pull into the parking spot at school, but neither of us gets out.
“It must not have been that great of a kiss, if you forgot about it.” He pauses, and then adds, “But, if I kissed you, you definitely would remember.”
“I wouldn't know,” I flirt. “Maybe someday you'll have to... show me...”
“Maybe I will,” he says, leaning closer. His lips are so close I can feel the warmth from them. My heart is beating so fast that I feel like it's going to beat its way out my chest. But he doesn't come any closer. “Maybe I won't.”
I roll my eyes, and back away from him. “Stephan, you sure have a way with the ladies. Tell me, how come you're single?”
I get out of the car, and basically shut my door in his face. I start walking towards my first class, and I hear Stephan run up behind me.
“Maybe I'm single because I haven't found anybody who I would consider being with long term. Maybe I have been waiting for somebody special,” he says sweetly. “Maybe somebody like you.”
The bell rings, and I jump at the sudden, loud noise.
“See you in study hall,” Stephan says, walking away from me.

Author Interview :

What would you have done differently if you were the main character of your book?

This is a hard question to answer, because I haven't been in that situation. I probably would have been way more arrogant than Scarlett. I would like to think I would've stood up for myself instead of running. Jaded started with Scarlett running away from LA… Away from her dad… I wouldn't have done that, I don't think.

What was your inspiration behind this book?

I started playing the guitar when I was 12. (I was home schooled, so I had a LOT of time to practice). From age 14-18 I worked at a studio, getting paid to play for other artists. I went on tour with a band as a bassist. I started my own band. I recorded a CD… It’s my own experience that inspired me to write Jaded.

Why did you become a writer?

I have always been a writer. I started in the second grade with short stories & poems. I wrote a bunch of songs (over 500). I wrote a musical for church. And I wrote my first novel at age 14. (Yeah, I was an overachiever). I guess I've always needed a creative outlet.

As a reader and writer I think it is important to get to know your fans and make a connection with them as an author who takes the extra step to hear what there fans think and want in there continued writing is continued success and key to selling more books. Do you agree with that?

I definitely agree. I take the time to respond to EVERY MESSAGE that is sent to me. I am active on Facebook. I do a lot of random giveaways just to say “thank you”. I LOVE my fans.

Do you have a favorite author or authors?

I have lots of them. Jillian Dodd, Cassandra Clare, Rachel Van Dyken, CC Hunter, Veronica Roth, Colleen Hoover… I could go on!

Do you like to write your books in a continuing series?

Yes, I do. I also like reading books in a series… It’s the same with TV. I’ll watch a TV show over a movie any day! I get attached to the characters. It’s fun.

If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why?

Definitely Alec from The Rock Star Trilogy – he’s hot, rich, and not looking for anything serious. He’d just be fun. I like that.

What kinds of books do you like to read in your spare time?

My favorite genre is YA, but I will read anything as long as it has a little (or a lot of) romance in it.
Do you cry when writing sad scenes?

Most of the time, YES, I do. I get so attached to my characters and I hate when they’re sad.
Did you have a Cover Designer?

YES! My cover designer also happens to be my editor too! Her name is Laura Heritage and you can find her here - < tell her I sent you. She’s AMAZING.

Who is your fictional boyfriend or girlfriend crush?

My boyfriend crush is Demetri from the Seaside Series by Rachel Van Dyken! Yummy! And if I could choose a girl to be best friends with, it would be Keatyn from the Keatyn Chronicles by Jillian Dodd!

If you we able to dine and have a one on one with your favorite writer/author who would it be?

JK ROWLING. Could you image how amazing that would be? She’s so creative. The world she created everybody loves. Wow. Just to be inside her head for an hour would be a dream come true.

Do just re-read your favorite books?

YES! All the time. It’s one of my favorite things to do.

Do you ever get in a reading slump like your readers do?

Yeah, I do. I went through a NA Romance only kick for a while, and that really put me in a slump, so I read some YA/ NA Paranormal books and it helped. Now I switch it up often.

What is the funniest book you ever read?

The Archers of Avalon Series by Chelsea Fine is SO FUNNY. I love it. Of course, Chelsea Fine is just a funny person. I laugh daily at her tweets. She’s awesome.

I am a YA/ NA author of the books: Dont Tell, You Got Me, and the Rock Star Trilogy: Jaded, Faded, and Hated. I have a slight addiction to the TV series Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries. I'm 23 years old, and I currently live in St Louis, with my husband of 2 years.
