Cover Reveal for Special Agent Francesca (Undercover FBI #1) Mimi Barbour

Special Agent Cover
An introvert, Special Agent Francesca moves to Las Vegas to escape her powerful, domineering mother. On arrival, multiple obstacles challenge her. She needs to approach a father she’s never met, a man who doesn’t even know she exists. Then she must play the role of a loving fiancĂ©e with a stranger. One who makes her question every unexpected emotion he provokes. Craving the chance for real undercover work, she grabs the opportunity to be involved in cleaning up gang corruption in a nasty neighborhood. When she poses as the new owner of a hotel, the deadly-dangerous situation ramps up and she’s forced to fight her way from one conflict to the next.
Sean Collins, Psychiatrist and LVPD Profiler, has never known anyone like Francesca Donovan. From first sight, he believes her to be a screwball but her beauty and maddening personality attracts him. Despite her prickly disposition, which gets them into a load of trouble, her rotten driving skills and her constant battles, he’s hooked. Once he’s roped into a mock engagement with her, his desire to make it real takes precedence over everything else in his world.
Sean Collins shared the seat kitty-corner in the four-booth set-up. He’d worked late trying to get a patient through a crisis and had gotten as far as the steak house, before hunger grabbed hold and dragged his sorry ass inside. Exhaustion had left his eyes gritty and his brain twisted like a pretzel, but two male voices still got through. Listening to a man unloading on his buddy about a mistaken one-night stand had his attention pretty darn quick.
When the friend’s advice matched with his own ideals of truthfulness between a husband and his wife, he found himself nodding. He didn’t agree with the jerk’s reasoning about being a player but he his basic counsel of honesty was sound.
Not that he was married; hadn’t found a woman he could trust further than he could throw her. What was it with the females in the state of Nevada? Did they all have to get caught up in the hype of the fun city?
Suddenly, a female voice entered his awareness. The husky note in the slightly slurred words was pleasing and he concentrated on what she was saying.
“Don’t listen to your friend. Not only is he an asshole, he’s full of shit. If you love your wife, then don’t tell her—ever.”
What the hell?
The screwball continued in the same vein, proceeding to give unwanted advice to a man who was in a fragile state and probably willing to listen to anything that would get him off the hot seat.
Sean came close to standing up and cutting her off. If he weren’t so tired, he’d have given her a piece of advice. Mind your own business! As a psychologist and profiler who often worked with the cops and saw every kind of misfit out there, he knew she’d most likely wrecked this man’s life. In her final statement, she let the poor guy have it with both barrels.
“In my way of thinking, being the best husband and father you can be will go some ways to making up for being the miserable, lyin’, cheating prick that you are.” Sean heard the noise of a chair being knocked over, a grunted swearword and light footsteps heading toward the door.
Something beyond his power to control brought him to his feet. The redheaded advice-giver stopped and their eyes caught for as long as it took her to stumble. Hers were pure liquid heat, the bluest blue he’d ever seen. Her glance slid past him as she straightened the chair and carefully manoeuvered her way to the door. The light over the entrance caught the coppery-gold highlights in the mane of loose hair flowing every which way over her shoulders and down her slight back. She bumped into the doorframe on her way out, stopped, re-aligned herself and then the nut-job was gone.
Stunned, he slid back down into his booth and the truth hit him. Hell, in Las Vegas there was every kind of mental disorder, maladjusted behavior, psychosis, neurosis and insanity a person could imagine, but some just blew the others right out of the murky pool. That stunning deranged wacko, whose fabulous long legs might get a man to do almost anything in order to get his hands on them, had just ended his otherwise shitty day perfectly. What a fucking shame!

A medieval story of love and betrayal.

As a rebellion sweeps England, Lady Annabel finds her home overrun by rebels. Much to her relief, a dark knight comes to her rescue, claiming to have been sent to protect her by her uncle.

But Nicholas holds a secret about the job he was sent to do and it is a far cry from what Annabel believes it to be. As the attraction between them grows, Nicholas begins to question the dark life he has lived. But is it enough to change him and will Annabel ever trust again after learning the true nature of his sinful duty?

My Thoughts and Review

I really enjoyed this series and the conclusion couldn't have been better.I loved the story from beginning to end and the story had a few surprises that I was not expecting  Annabel and the Duke to be riding in a hot air balloon to get to where they needed to be.Who would have thought two English gentry taking on such a dangerous adventure ?

This story was not only about finding Lady Annabel's treasure seeking parents but, also the Duke's self discovery and his belief in God and his faith whether he is worthy or not.The story took us on a grand adventure with tons of intrigue with a couple of titled gentry making a lifetime of friends that were considered peasants along there way and a couple working on there relationship that would bring them a lifetime of happiness.

For me I love the characters and there development throughout this story but, I have to say that Annabel was my favorite. She was truly a loving and giving and caring person with such a giving heart to her friends and also absolute strangers never seeking anything in return. She had brilliant mind for problem solving and adventure as It must been in that blood of hers that she must have gotten from her parents. I loved the way she took her Duke on a merry adventure with a bit of danger before she let him catch her !

A true love story.Believing that God put this couple in each others path as they were the Key to solving this mystery that only love for one another and there belief that God was there guiding them on there journey keeping them safe until they solved the mystery and to rescuing Annabel's parents. They needed each other to solve this mystery as both lend-ed a helping hand in saving mankind from destruction from the greedy men in power that this invention would bring.

I loved the whole 3 book series and the conclusion. The story was a page turner giving you love, adventure ,mystery a lots of Intrigue keeping you glued to the pages until you finished it with a smile on your face from time to time.

I recommend this story and its previous stories to this series but, also anything that Jamie Carie has written all of her books I have read have been fabulous reads.

Don’t look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.

That is Ethan Chase’s unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he’d dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister’s world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

This novel is one of Julie’s books that will have you demanding for the second one as soon as you finish your read.

My Thoughts and Review

I really enjoyed this story ! This has been such a great series.I am glad that Ethan got his own story but, I think this won't be the last we here from him.And a Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Teen for allowing me to read an Advance Readers Copy of The Lost Prince.

Ethan Chase, Meghan's brother also the Queen of the Iron Fey he is gifted with the ability to see the world of the fey.

Ethan surprised me in this story as I was so surprised at his bitterness toward life and his sister it was almost on the verge of hostel. But, after being kidnapped as a child and brought to the Fey where danger lurks at every corner I guess I am should not be that surprised. And even in the mortal world the creatures can't leave the guy alone but, his resentment and his disrespect toward his sister was another thing altogether.Ethan is labeled a bad boy and has gotten a reputation for being one. But, he really is undeserving if it all ,the mishaps occurring they were caused by the Fey creatures and he was only trying to protect himself.

Ethan is forced to flee to the Iron realm to see the Queen and his sister.Something or someone is making the Fey creatures and other living creatures in the mortal world disappear. When mysterious ghost-like fey start killing exiles and kidnapping half-bloods Ethan reluctantly visits the NeverNever. Ethan needs to find a way to find his friend and let the Queen know what is going on and the danger this new development brings.

Ethan is joined on this journey with a classmate Kenzie.Ethan not meaning to has brought Kenzie with him to the Iron Fey for her safety and his own as something or someone is out to get them.I loved the slow building romance between Ethan and Kenzie in this novel! Ethan who is so used to being alone kept pushing Kenzie away, which at times was infuriating, but Kenzie is so strong and independent that she wouldn't take any of Ethan's crap. I liked that about her, it actually reminded me a lot of Meghan with her relationship with Ash the unseelie Prince of the winter court.

The pages are graced with some of our favorite characters Ash, Meghan and Puck and our favorite cat but, only briefly. We are introduced to a new characters like Kierran who happens to be Ash and Meaghan's son and lets not forget Kenzie and also we encounter the displaced Queen who has made her own little world.

The story was a page turner from beginning to end.Kierran joins with Ethan and Kenzie on there wild adventure. As always there journey is fraught with nothing but danger.Kenzie on the other hand is enjoying her time spent in the NeverNever even with all the danger lurking about. She is very adventurous and wants to learn all she can in her limited time in the Fey.

Ethan and his brooding mood softens a bit to develop a slow and budding romance with Kenzie. She was such a fun character to read about. And as for Kierran Ash and Meghan's son I didn't really get a good reading on him yet whether I am going to like his character or not. I felt that he was a little bit to dangerous (meaning he doesn't look at the consequences of his actions  beforehand just dives right in making him extremely dangerous )Without the thought to others welfare he puts others in danger and may just get them killed. Also I am not so sure he is trust worthy. I just get a bad vibe about him.Who's side is he on away ?You might ask yourself this to after reading this story.

A lot happens in the story while uncovering this plot of the who dun-nit and we learn about a prophecy and what is to come true and who the players are.It makes you very edgy and things are not looking good for the near future.Pretty scary in fact and has you wondering if you all ready know who is the traitor?

I have to say it was and overall engaging story.Had all the things to make a great story a good plot great characters even though I missed the camaraderie of some off the other characters this novel was a bit more serious.I am glad to see new characters gracing the pages.I loved the adventure.I am thinking that we will see more of these characters to come in the future books.I have to say that no matter what Iron Fey novel you pick up it is going to be throughly enjoyable.

A must read ! A recommended read to all ages whether your young or old you won't be disappointed.

"Historical details enrich Burrowes's intimate and erotic story, but the real stars are her vibrant characters and her masterful ear for dialog. Burrowe's is superb at creating connections that feel honest and real."--Publishers Weekly, Starred Review

My Thoughts and Review

I have to say that since the first time I picked up one of Grace Burrowes books that I just fell in love with them.

This was such a cute and enjoyable read that brought great enjoyment. This plot was engaging and found myself smiling throughout the story quite a bit.And you had to love the two main characters Augusta Merrick and Ian Macgregor but, I have to say I love Augusta the most she surprised me the most.Augusta is a spinster and a poor relation with cat in tow .But,Augusta is not really any of those things at all but, a bright, beautiful and intelligent, and funny and not what you would expect of a spinster at all not your meekly type even though she tries to stay in the shadows.

The almost Earl of Balfour Ian MacGregor is in need of a bride with tons of money to secure his clan future an invites his prospective bride to his home to woo her. Little does he know his bride wants no part of marriage to him or anyone for that matter. But, he plans to succeed no matter what he needs the money a bride will bring to save the future of his clan and family.

Ian the dashing Scot who cannot help but be intrigued by Augusta instead ,she is not what he expected .
Ian and Augusta feel the same instant attraction for one another from the very beginning but, both know it will never lead anywhere so why bother to pre-sue it.Ian though, can't stay away or seem to leave Augusta alone for very long so they strike a bargain to have a brief affair before he marries.

Life is never easy .You feel the pain for this couple as you see them slowly falling in love that will lead to know where but heartbreak. There were a lot of other things going on throughout this story to engage you others in pursuit of love others loving others that they cannot have .Someone trying to murder one of Ian's guests making the plot even more intriguing.

Overall I loved this book and mostly because of Augusta she made the pages come alive. You could not help the ingenious mind she had with no ill intent to harm others but bent on making them happy even at the expense of her own broken heart. Also you could not help but , love that she brought a rough and tough Scotsman to his knees without plotting but, by just being herself.

All the other characters were engaging  as well  some playful and some just down right deceitful and dangerous lending there own adventures to the story as well which kept you turning the pages to the point where you could not book put the book down and lead you to read the story into the wee hours of the morning.

I am a sucker for this kind of love story as I like rooting for the underdog in the story hoping the inspecting will achieve the happily ever after too !

A recommended read to all ! Be sure to check her other Historical Romances too they were all wonderful and enjoyable reads as well.

When he came back around to the front of the barn, she was sitting on top of a bale of hay, holding up a brown paper back with a grease stain on the bottom. Mooch, traitor that he was, perched at her feet, looking up at her adoringly, waiting for her to drop the bag.

“Mama sent some chicken and biscuits.”

He grunted an acknowledgment, and pulled his hat lower over his eyes so he didn't have to see the pain in hers.

She stood, setting the bag down next to her, and sauntered over to the stall where he was spreading fresh straw.

“What’s wrong?”

He couldn't think of the words to say to her. Everything that came to mind was wrong, and Brent knew that there was no way to have this conversation without hurting her. But he had to, or else he would end up hurting her worse in the long run.

As he kicked straw around the floor of the stall, he knew he was being stupid. For the last two weeks, all he’d talked about was how badly he wanted her to stay with him. And now he was about to do this…

He finally stopped when she said, “Brent. You’re scaring me. Is this about me not being able to have kids?”

“No.” Brent brushed past her to go to the feed room. Rattling the bucket brought in the mare, an enormous equine with a shaggy coat and bones showing through loose skin. She followed him into the stall, as he emptied the bucket into her feed trough, and then started pulling the injections from his pockets and preparing them silently.

When he had the first one ready, he finally got the guts to raise his head and look at Casey and deliver the brilliant line he’d spent the past ten minutes coming up with. “I need to think about some stuff.”

Her mouth dropped, and Brent lowered his head to the mare’s shoulder. While she was distracted, eating, he pinched some skin between his gloved fingers and stuck in the needle, pushing the plunger.

Brent had no idea what happened next. All he was aware of was a swift intake of breath, before he saw a wall of brown crush into him, then a jumble of whinnies, a frantic woof, a shrill scream, some clatters, then hoofs aimed at his chest, before blackness took over.
