Wow! Just wow! Where to start? I was on pins and needles the entire time reading this story. OMG! Was this story really good i? It kept me on edge the entire time I was reading it.The subject matter was dark and intense, the plot engaging and suspenseful, full of twists and turns, and emotional pain. This story was an emotional rollercoaster. I don't know what to say other than this story drew me right in from the very beginning and kept me there until the very bitter end.This story is one that touche the reader's emotions as you feel the pain of these two main characters and their struggles. Cosima was a character who was beautiful, loving, strong, determined, lost, and trying to find her path in a new life that she created for herself. But, one thing she has never been able to conquer is her feelings for her master/husband, Alexander, and it is something only he can provide for her, and her happiness depends on it. Alexander was one dark and dangerous man, but he was also smart and cunning. Cosima is the only person who has ever made him feel anything close to being human, and he will do everything and anything to protect her, own her body and soul to the bitter end. If I am being honest, this man scared the crap out of me. Overall, we loved the story from beginning to end.The story had amazing characters, and there was never a dull moment.The story was very dark and intense, not one for the faint of heart, and only forthe open-minded because it is very dark and the BDSM to the extreme that is full of pleasure and pain, and only a master and slave will ever understand the depths of emotions and pleasures this kind of relationship brings. But it is one that both parties need to embrace the dark to be happy. Cosima's life will always be controlled by Alexander and his dominant nature, and as she is carving out a new life for herself through sheer determination, she needs to choose to place herself fully in the hands of the dark and dangerous lord because once she does, she will be forever owned, and nothing but death will ever separate them again. One entralling read, and Miss Darling is a master storyteller for sure. We have thoroughly enjoyed everything we have read from her so far, and this story, yet again, was an amazing read for us!

Let's start off by saying that this is a brand new author for us and we enjoyed our first read by them. The story tugs on one's heart strings was emotionally messy and filled with great characters. When these two connect their chemistry between them is off the charts and undeniable. But, after reconnecting will Axe still have vengeance in his heart?
We love a good story that takes you on an emotional roller-ride and this story did exactly that. This kind of story brings out so many emotions in a reader with it being dark and gritty and full of raw angst moments.
Things that captured our attention and the suspense in it the twists and turns the book took you on. The story was also filled with darkness and full of so many challenges.
Axe and Zoey’s love story was wild, passionate steamy, and intense with characters that had amazing chemistry.
Love it when you see the growth of a character and we felt that Zoey did that. Axe's he made some questionable choices and no matter how we felt about them they were his.
Overall an enjoyable read. The ending well we will leave it up to you to decide but, it was interesting. Would differently pick up another book by this author. The cover of this book is awesome we love it. Tragedy, obsession suspense, betrayals, revenge need I say more ...
"Are you nervous?" I asked her. We sat in the little gazebo on the edge of her property. It overlooked what really was just a stormwater retention pond, but it was still kind of a water view. It didn't matter to either of us though. It was still our place.
"No?" she said with that infectious laugh of hers. "Are you?"
I shrugged my shoulders and shook my head. "No," I lied.
Tomorrow was our first day of high school. Our town was set up so that there was just one big high school, but a bunch of small elementary and middle schools. New people scared me, but I'd never had to deal with that for all those years, at least not at school.

I, on the other hand, was a different story. I wasn't sure that I was always this way, but my childhood hadn't been enjoyable thus far. People had hurt me in the past, so I stayed away from them. I tried to stay away from Zoey, but she never let me. Every time I tried to pull away when we were kids, she would come over to my house, knock on the back door, and force me to come outside and play. She was the only friend I ever had.
And, the only one I ever wanted.
I knew I was just a kid, a pretty messed up kid from a shit town with a shit family, but I knew what I wanted. And, I wanted Zoey. She was the only person who knew my secrets and even knowing about all the bad stuff my Dad did to me when I was just a toddler, she didn't judge me for it. She didn’t think I was weird or damaged. She said she still liked me, still wanted to be my friend, and still accepted me for who I was.
"It's okay, Axe," she said to me. "Please just be honest. I want you to always be honest with me, okay?" she said, taking my hands in hers.
I looked up into her sky-blue eyes. There was such kindness there. It was so calming to me. Some days I felt like she was the only reason to keep living. Some days I felt like she was the only reason I was sane.
"I'm really nervous," I admitted to her. She smiled.
"There, that wasn't so hard, was it?"
I shrugged.
"What are you nervous about?" she asked, squeezing my hands, encouraging me like she always did. I sighed.
“The people."
"What about them?" I twisted my lips. "I'm afraid they might hurt me." It's such a deep confession, it hurt just tearing it up from my heart.
Zoey leaned in, wrapping me in her arms. I sighed into her embrace, reveling in the sweet pea body spray that she always wore. "You don't have to worry about that, Axe," she said. "I'm going to be right there with you. I'm not going to let anyone hurt you."
"I know," I said to her.
She turned and reached into her bag, pulling out the little Polaroid camera that she was always carrying with her. She was always taking pictures and swore to me that one day she would be a photographer.
“Here,” she said, holding up the camera so that it captured both of us. “One for me,”she said, snapping the photo and waiting for the little card to come out. “And, one for you,” she said, snapping another picture, but this time, she turned and placed a kiss to my cheek. The photograph fell out of the machine and into my lap.
As the image came into view, I knew that I would carry this picture with me forever.
