It’s been ten long years since Jacob and I parted ways.
I moved on… well, at least I thought I did.
That was until I’m asked to clean the image of Jacob Decker.
Rockstar, playboy, womanizer JC Decker.
He’s spoiled, rude, and inappropriate.
I shouldn’t take the job, but I need the money.
I swallow my pride and work for him.
Closely.
Too close.
That’s when I uncover the wounds he hides.
The scars underneath his dismissive attitude.
And his shattered heart.
Can I just walk away when I’m about to find the man I once loved?
Strangers In Love is the conclusion of the highly angsty Somehow Everlasting novel.
If you have been following me for some time, you know that I am a big fan of this author. She writes books that tug at your heartstrings, and this was one of those stories.
Jacob & Pria's story, also known as Ana's story, was an emotional tale where two people clearly belonged together, yet a series of circumstances and events kept them apart.
You really feel the pain of these characters; it goes straight to the heart of the reader. It was evident that Jacob suffered from some horrible events, but instead of dealing with each one, he regressed into a pit of nothingness, becoming a man his family no longer remembers.
Pria is a character you can't help but love. She is selfless, kind, and loving, always giving so much of herself with very little in return. Anisley was my favorite character in this story. She was straightforward, loving, and had a witty banter that I enjoyed. I loved that she was always there, trying to fix things and rooting for her brother. They were triplets with an amazing connection, yet each had their own personalities and similarities.
In our opinion, Pria was a character who constantly faced challenges but never complained, always moving forward and taking care of those around her.
My only complaint with this story is that it focused heavily on Jacob's issues and problems, while a major personal trauma that happened to Pria was glossed over. This event was a significant trauma in her life, and it was only mentioned briefly. The pain of that event must have been devastating, yet it was never fully explored or addressed, with the narrative always centered on Jacob and his demons.
From book 1, we felt that this couple belonged together, perfect for each other. Jacob's speech after meeting Pria had us believing they were soulmates. If you could have that kind of intuition about a person from one conversation, it had to be fate, right?
I loved the characters, especially the Decker family and Mason, t. They were all so well-developed, and while we adored the Jacob we met in book one, our feelings about the Jacob we encountered in the conclusion of their story were mixed. Honestly, we felt Pria deserved better. Did we still believe they were soulmates? Absolutely.
Being on this heartbreaking emotional journey with Pria/Ana and Jacob was an angsty tale of finding love and happiness amidst roadblocks and twists. This story evokes a range of emotions for readers, making you feel everything the characters are experiencing – the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
We read this in audiobook form, and we have to say we loved the narration for this book they did a wonderful job.
