A painful past

Deke Murphy and Maddie Hall should never have worked as a couple in high school. She was the class valedictorian and he the jock who took nothing seriously…except her. Together they formed an amazing team, and young love blossomed into something that strengthened them both. Until tragedy struck and Deke made a sacrifice that split them up forever.

An unexpected reunion

Seventeen years later, Maddie is living her dream working for a brilliant tech guru in the beauty of Southern California. She’s made a life for herself and it’s first class all the way. She rarely thinks of the jock who dumped her all those years ago. But when Maddie realizes her boss might be part of an international conspiracy, she can’t deny Deke might be her best bet to solve the mystery. Her one-time sweetheart works for one of the world’s premiere security and investigative firms. She’ll hire him and prove to herself their relationship could never have worked.

A dangerous future

As Maddie and Deke begin to uncover her boss’s secrets, they can’t deny the chemistry that has reignited. But before they can explore the connection growing between them, they must survive the deadly forces hunting them down.

Awesome story, loved it from cover to cover! The characters were also awesome, loved that they were fun and could have fun with one another, loved how the team worked together and how on a mission they could be deadly. For us, this story had non-stop suspense mixed in with the BDSM aspect of the couple involved in a DOM/Sub relationship. The story concentrated on Deke and Maddie but, MayBe and Kyle were a big part of the story too as we are starting to believe MayBe is at the point where it's sh** or get off the pot kind of thing between her and Kyle. Loved Deke it was so easy to love his character he was just a sweetheart although maybe still a bit broken but, he has come of long way from his military days. We loved the fact that he not only had one awesome family to help him heal, he had another with the Taggart/McKay clan. Loved the star crossed lover feel the book gave off. Found it sweet that after all these years he only found one woman that had touched his heart. Loved the chemistry between himself and Maddie and although it may have felt awkward at times, there was always that fire and sizzle that rested below the surface. Maddie was smart and sexy and a woman who knows her worth but, somewhere along the line of achieving her goals, she lost that side of her of living life and having a life outside of work but, if one, man can remind her that there is more to life than work it would be Deke. For us, this was just a page turner, Deke and Maddie we felt were perfect for one another, and we were rooting for them from the very being in hopes they could put the past behind them and start a new. We have a feeling going forward, we are going to see a whole new MayBe. The story had tons of mystery and suspense and some hot and sexy times. For us, one thing that we like to point out that the characters that make up Taggart/McKay as a whole are part of each and every story and that is what makes this current story and the series so awesome the characters are so engaging and fun and full of mystery and danger, and they all carry so many secrets yet, they have become this large happy family that has no problem being matchmakers or being in everyone's business its cute and funny seeing these ex spies and ex military members put their two sense in.
