We have to say we are loving this series. We loved Elena and Marco's story. The story started off with a bang and remained suspenseful throughout the entire story.
Elena been on the run for many years, she has learned to take care of herself since then. She has learned to be a chameleon and so much more. We loved how brave and strong and resourceful she was as well as being smart and intelligent, and her skills will come in handy for what she is about to do.
Marco, the dark and dangerous mob boss, is very possessive and protective of his new charge. We loved that he and Elena had a semi complicated history and that they had been secretly been in lust/love with one another for a very long time, neither ever acting nor telling one another about their feelings for one another. Their past will work for Elena in the long run because of what is about to go down when she returns home. We enjoyed seeing a different side of Marco when it came to Elena, she is his match and equal in every way. She will be the kind of wife / partner that walks beside the man, not behind him.
The wives of these men show what they really are made of this time around. Strong, brave, beautiful and warriors in their own way.
Loved it non-stop action and suspense, and the story had more than a few surprises we did not see coming. Marco and Elena had awesome chemistry and just perfect for one another. The characters were awesome and we loved them all. A straight-up page turner for us, can't wait to see what happens next when Luc is brought in the fold. We are glad we came across the author and this series as it has become one of our favorites both author and series.
