I really enjoyed this story. The story was a tad emotional do to Abbi's and Luca's ongoing life drama. This story was a roller coaster ride. Luca is the love um and leave um type but, the women in his bed know the score until Luca takes a sexy brunette to his bed and wants more than one night. Luca and Abbi have this instant connection and off the charts chemistry and an understanding that they would try and see where there weekend would go until life intervened and good intentions forgotten.
I will say I loved how Luca stepped up to the plate and, for the most part, rearranged his priorities in order to help his family in need. Throughout the whole book Luca surprised us he was super sweet, loving, and giving and making remarkable changes to his life that even his teammates were left with jaws wide open. We loved how he was with Abbi and when he said he was in he was all in. We loved them as a couple, the crazy chemistry made the story fun and flirty and was filled with a ton of sexy scenes.
Not only that, but we loved Abbi as well and felt a bit sorry for the girl as she seemed so unlucky in love and was going through trying times in life as well but, after some disastrous relationships she takes a chance on Luca proving once again she is unlucky in love and relationships until fate puts them together once again.
Abbi's character struggled with the past and the present and how her emotions were tied to both, and we understood her fears and she had a right to be cautious when it came to Luca but, we felt she was taring Luca with the same feather as her past relationships, and he had done nothing to even hint at the fact that he was like any of those men of Abbi's past.
Overall, we just loved the story. This was a first time author for us, and we really enjoyed our first read by them. We loved the characters, we thought they were awesome, both family and friends and also those teammates of Luca's. This story plot portrayed a story about how life becomes overwhelming and messy at times but, also some good can come from the bad in the fact that you just might find your soulmate in all that chaos and your journey to your happily ever after is a bit rockier than most but all the more rewarding. This author managed to make us fall head over heels in love with Luca just by the phone conversations he had with his nieces and nephews that brought nothing but, smiles to our face.
