With a terrifying ordeal behind him, former navy SEAL Jubal Pierce was supposed to stay in Covenant Falls, Colorado, for only a day or two. That's it. He's not prepared to put down roots here—no matter how intriguing the town's new doctor happens to be. Not to mention Dr. Lisa Redding's teen brother is on a troubled path that's all too familiar. Suddenly Jubal finds himself entangled in the community and with deep, unfamiliar feelings for Lisa. But maybe a little detour is just what a warrior needs to find his true purpose…and true love.

Review
This is was and enjoyable light read. The story was about healing for both a Seal and a families loss.I found the characters to be like-able and love-able as well as interesting.
I normally pick a favorite character in a story and mine would be Jubal. For one I liked that he had an interesting name. One of the things I loved most about him was his kindness and understanding toward Gordon.I loved how he handled Gordon. He saw that Gordon was on a dangerous path where he used to be an decided to take action to turn this troubled kid around.I loved how he dealt punishment without angry words and being physical.I felt for Jubal as he was in pain and suffering from loss and nightmares that he suffered from in the war.You really felt his pain. His suffering definitely tugged at the readers heart strings I loved his interaction with his friends and fellow seals.I enjoyed seeing him make new friends and open his heart to another. He was healing slowly by making friends and falling in love making a new life for himself without even realizing it.I love seeing him be happy after so much suffering.
Dr. Lisa Redding family was suffering from loss. Her brother is out of control and needs more then she can currently give him.She makes a decision to uproot her family a move to Convenant Falls to be able to give more attention to her families current needs.I loved that Lisa put her family first instead of her career.I loved how she was patient and kind.I loved the sacrifices she was willing to make for her brother and sister.Lisa showed us just how strong she was.She impressed me greatly.
Some say Covenant Falls is full of magic.A small town is full of ex military men who found love and healing.Lisa on the other hand thinks that this place is just temporary for her and her families needs.I enjoyed reading about the characters that filled this interesting town. They were love-able as well as like-able and we enjoyed reading about them. The town occupants were full of kindness and loyalty toward those they cared about.I loved that about them.
Lisa and Jubal meet and have a instant connection as well as attraction.I enjoyed seeing this couple fall in love even though neither was looking for it or expecting it.I felt for this couple as the both fought their feelings knowing that nothing would come of their relationship. Both plan to move on and Jubal he only plans to be in town for a week which turns out to be longer than he planned. Jubal keeps setting down roots without even realizing what he is doing.I loved his reaction once he realizes what is happening to him and same goes for Lisa. Neither of them realizing they were putting roots down and embroiling themselves in town life and long as its residents.Creating strong bonds...
I enjoyed how this author incorporated horses into it's story . Making Jubal care about these animals definitely helped with his healing process as well as Gordon's.I enjoyed being along the healing process for both Gordon and Jubal.I enjoyed seeing them be happy again as well as form an unlikely friendship between those two men.Even though this story is about Lisa and Jubal falling in love a big part of this story was about Gordon getting through his rough patch.I was rooting for him to find some happiness .I was rooting for Jubal and Lisa's happy ever after from page one especially when you saw their relationship was doomed from the onset.I loved Jubal and Lisa's interactions with one another they were truly sweet moments and quite endearing really.
I enticing read about loss and heartache.I loved the small town feel of the story.I would however have liked more character interaction with both Jubal and Lisa and their relationship.I really enjoyed this story especially about a wounded hero who put his own suffering aside to help another. How could you not fall in love with a fellow like that?It really reminds you there is Hope and Joy for all of us within our reach. An enjoyable story about love and sacrifice that tugged at the readers emotions.I look forward to picking up others stories in this Covenant Falls series. We throughly enjoyed this story.
We are giving it 4 stars.
