Book Blurb/Synopsis-

The "New York Times"-bestselling author of the Argeneau Vampire series delivers a sexy blend of love, laughter, and mayhem in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands.

They call him the Devil . . .

He is the most notorious laird of Scotland: fierce, cold, deadly . . . and maybe even worse. Yet Evelinde has just agreed to wed him. Anything, she thinks, is better than her cruel stepmother. Though Evelinde should be wary of the rumors, she can't help but be drawn to this warrior . . . for the Devil of the Highlands inspires a heat within her that is unlike anything she has ever known.

They may call him whatever they wish, but Cullen, Laird of Donnachaidh, cares only for the future of his clan. He must find a wife, a woman to bear him sons and heed his commands. He has no need for beauty or grace, but one taste of his lovely bride's sweet lips and the sultry feel of her skin arouse an untamed passion. Perhaps there's more to marriage than he thought . . .

Our Review

I thought this was a delightful read.Evelinde is currently living with her wicked step mother. Her step mother contracts a marriage for her with the Laird they called the Devil of the Highlands. The wicked step mother thinks that she is giving her to a man who is cruel and uncaring and is going to make her step daughter life more miserable then it already is .Upon the Laird meeting his bride her see's a women on a horse running back and forth with her dress in the air, turns out the lass stumble and fell into the river. They meet and have a slight accident and Cullen is slightly hurt and the lass comes to his aid forgetting about her own injuries and more worried about his.The sparks fly and the two share a kiss but, knowing she is promised to another vows to take that kiss to her marriage bed with the Devil himself.

Cullen informs the lass that he is the Duncan and she is not getting why he is trying to say he's the man she is to marry.Duncan seeing how his bride is treated by her stepmother he marries her at once. The marriage ceremony was quite funny due to some mixed up events.LOL

The rest of the story is just a genuine love story. Two people getting to know one another and learning to trust.Cullen being laird  is not used to being told what to do but, by taking advice from his friend he is looking to create and Happy home and a Happy wife.I admired that in this hardened Highland Cullen was such a likable character you could not help but fall in love with him to.He truly came to love and care for Evelinde which so many of that time period would not have even tried to please there wife as the were really just property and there to beget and heir.

Evelinde just loved her.She had so much sadness and unhappiness in her life she never seemed to get her down she always seemed pretty happy for the most part. With the the things going on around her she kept trying to explain them away even though she did not want to believe someone was out to hurt her.She looked like nothing but a accident prone women would could not take care of her self.Evelinde's accidents did not start happening until she started poking her nose into all the mysterious deaths going on around the Castle.

The pair learn to love and laugh along there way of trying to find out who is trying to kill his spirited wife while creating a bond between them which will last a life time.
