Blitz & Giveaway for The Best Friend’s Guide to Taking Risks by Kadie Scott & Nicole Flockton

The Best Friend’s Guide to Taking Risks
Kadie Scott & Nicole Flockton
Publication date: April 4th 2022
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

All it takes is one weekend…

Everyone knows that the biggest risk you can take with your best friend is to cross a certain line.

When it comes to relationships, Hunter Lancing is not a risk taker. Between his parents’ terrible divorce and his own bad decisions, he’s been burned. Computers make more sense to him. Everything has a rule. Everything is defined. Like his computers, his best friend is defined, constant, and comes with rules he won’t break.

Part-time children’s party princess Natalie Morgan dances to the beat of a drum no one else can hear. The only person who truly gets her and is never scared off by her sometimes zany ideas is Hunter. But she has a big problem. Natalie keeps having all these…feelings…for her bestie.

But on a weekend getaway, a game of risky dares and one-upmanship that was supposed to just be for laughs may end up with both of them crossing the friend zone line.

EXCERPT:

“Please be home,” she half-pleaded, half-muttered.

She glanced behind her. Checking the shadows. Not that she needed to. Her best friend since forever lived in the posh part of Sacramento thanks to his innovative tech company and savvy business mind. The man always had been a geek to his core, and it had paid off. In millions.

She brushed at a stray tear rolling down her cheek with an impatient hand. Holding them in during the party had been an act of sheer valor, not wanting the kids to get a water-logged princess. Besides, crying generally wasn’t her thing. But her business was everything to her. She loved what she did, and that woman…

“Come on Hunter.” She knocked again, a little more frantically.

Slipping her phone from her purse, she scrolled to the contact labeled “Lancelot”—a play on his last name—and the phone started ringing as she knocked again. If he didn’t answer, she’d leave.

“’Lo?” A sleepy voice came over the line with a grumble.

She blew out a breath in sharp relief. “Let me in.”

“Nat? Call me at a human hour.”

“I’m at your door.”

Pause. No doubt his mind taking a second to catch up to her words. “Of course you are.”

“It’s only eight o’clock,” she pointed out dryly. “On a Saturday night.”

And he should be surprised, dammit. Natalie wasn’t a party girl by any stretch of the imagination—or at least not the adult kind. Her sister Lexie, on the other hand, could give Studio 54 in the seventies lessons on how to party. All in the name of research for her podcast on dating, she claimed. But 8pm was hardly party time anyway.

“I pulled an all-nighter working on code a friend asked me to review. I only just fell asleep. Hunter grumbled as the sound of echoing footsteps on his wooden stairs filtered through the phone. Then a series of beeps—no doubt the alarm—followed by several clicks of locks. She hung up as he cracked the massive metal door open, paused, then swung it wider, his dark brown gaze taking in every inch of her.

“Let me in. Don’t you recognize a damsel in distress when you see one?”

“Sorry.” He hurriedly stepped back, closing and locking the door behind her. After an owlish blink, he tipped his head. “Your tiara’s crooked.”

She started to lift a hand to right it only to stop herself with a scowl. “Yours would be too, if you went through what I did tonight.”

Tonight definitely deserved a title. Party-gate? Abandoned-princess-gate? Never-trust-a-knight-to-show-up-when-he’s-needed-gate?

Thick eyebrows winged high, and was that a twitch to his lips? It disappeared as his gaze slid down her body again, then back up to land on her probably tear-and-mascara-streaked face, and a frown formed between his brows.

Natalie crossed her arms, trying to hold in body warmth, but that only served to plump her breasts over the top of her corset. They were practically to her chin, so she dropped her arms again.

“You didn’t bring a jacket?” he asked.

“I accidentally left the matching fur stole at the party I just finished,” she tossed over her shoulder. She might just never get it back. Facing that mom again was not high on her To-Do list about now.

“You seriously have a matching fur stole?”

Hunter flipped on the hall light and Natalie blinked rapidly, but not at the harsher lighting. No, what was setting her retinas on fire was the sight of Hunter in a pair of low-slung black pajama pants and no shirt.

Holy hell, her BFF had muscles.

Her gaze was glued to the eight pack – yes, eight – of muscles ridging his stomach. When the hell did he get those?

How long has it been since I’ve seen him without a shirt?

Shelter for Tory by Nicole Flockton Blitz & Giveaway

Shelter for Tory

Nicole Flockton

(Station 7: Crew 5)
Publication date: July 14th, 2020
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

Tory Chapman wants what every girl dreams of: the love of a man who would walk through fire for her. Unfortunately, her shyness, as well as being a total brainiac are not the winning formula to find Mr. Right. But she does have a knack for locating Mr. Wrong, and this time he turns out to be a cocky firefighter with a killer Australian accent.
Shane “Mick” Hall loves working with the San Antonio Fire Dept., but with his contract ending and no signs of an extension, he has to make some big decisions. San Antonio is home to him now and the last thing he wants to do is go back to Australia. With his life up in the air, he doesn’t have time to start a serious relationship. No matter how right it feels.
Thrown together to organize a joint fundraiser, Mick and Tory spend a lot of time together. Soon they can’t deny the intense attraction burning inside of them. When trouble comes knocking at Tory’s door, Mick will do everything to keep her safe. But will it be enough?
EXCERPT:
Over by the grill chatting were Driftwood, Chief, Taco and…she paused and squinted. Standing with them was a man she didn’t recognize. It was strange considering she’d been friends with the guys from Station 7 for ages, ever since Sophie and Chief got together. Then again, at most of the social gatherings where she could’ve met him, she’d sequestered herself away from the crowd. Or she’d found a reason not to attend. Those reasons were becoming harder and harder to come up with, hence why she was now standing in Quinn’s backyard.
From her vantage point, she could make out that he had to be a firefighter too. His shoulders were wide and looked like he’d be able to squat while holding a tree truck across them without breaking a sweat. His shirt sleeves were so tight around his biceps it was a surprise they weren’t ripping Hulk style. His shoulders tapered down in the classic swimmer’s reverse triangle, and his legs were just as impressive as his shoulders.
The guy was built, and if he came barreling into a burning house to rescue her, she wouldn’t turn down his help.
He threw his head back and laughed at something Taco said and a spark of desire billowed to life in her belly.
What the hell? A guy laughing had never turned her on before. She was drinking lemonade, so alcohol couldn’t be blamed for this immediate response to the stranger’s laugh.
As much as she wanted to step out of her comfort zone, that guy had danger and trouble written all over him. He looked like a guy who had a large personality and the woman who was his perfect match, wouldn’t be a wallflower like her. She needed to stay as far away from him as possible.
Hmm. But he was fine to look at.
Perhaps going inside again would be better for her. Maybe she could see if Beth was there somewhere.
Unfortunately, the message wasn’t traveling down from her synapses in her brain to her feet. They remained glued to the spot and her attention remained locked on the group of men.
As if he was aware of her scrutiny, the mystery man looked up and their gazes connected. For years she’d doubted what she’d read in her favorite romance books, where the characters both claimed the world stopped spinning the second their eyes clashed. That they were captivated by just a single glance.
Well right this second, Tory had no idea what was going on around her. Her attention was focused on this hulk of a man and he seemed to be having the same reaction.

One Hot Texas Summer by Nicole Flockton Blitz & Giveaway

One Hot Texas Summer
Nicole Flockton
(Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge #1)
Published by: Tule Publishing
Publication date: May 26th 2020
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
She’s been fooled before by sweet words and hot kisses
Kelly Turner loves being a florist, and being asked to take the lead on the new site for the town’s festival is an honor. If only she didn’t have to work closely with the town player, Tate Prentice. After being burned once by a serial cheater, her inconvenient attraction toward Tate needs to be nipped in the bud.
Tate Prentice’s focus is on ensuring his father recovers fully from his stroke and making sure the family’s peach farm continues to thrive. When his brother nominates the farm to be the satellite site for the festival, he’s less than impressed. The only good thing is he’ll be working with Kelly – even though he knows she’ll never give him a second glance, not with his reputation.
The more time Kelly spends with Tate, the more she sees the man behind the reputation. Can she trust her instincts, or will her heart be broken once again?
EXCERPT:
Outside, the sounds of summer surrounded them. Crick- ets trilled, calling for company. A light veil of humidity hung in the air, not quite stifling yet. Come July and August, humidity would be heavy and unpleasant. Hopefully, Mother Nature would play nice for Founders’ Day and make the days and evenings pleasant.
“Where did you park your car?” he asked.
“Behind the shop.”
“Okay.” Tate headed in that direction, aware that he still had his arm around Kelly’s shoulders. Interesting. Why hadn’t she shaken him off? Not that he was complaining. She fit snugly, and he could get used to it.
A second later, she took a step to the right and his arm slipped to his side. The universe liked to give and then take away from him pretty quickly.
“You don’t have to walk me to my car, Tate. I’m a big girl and can get there by myself. The town is safe.”
He shoved his hands in his pocket to stop from reaching for her again. “I’m aware of that, but Dad would box my ears if he knew I’d let you walk alone after spending the evening with you.”
“Ahh, the gentlemanly gestures. It’s kind of sad they’re dying out.”
“You sound like you don’t want that to happen. You do know you just told me I didn’t have to do one of those gentlemanly gestures with dinner.”
She shrugged. “I have mixed feelings. I’ve been on my own for a long time. I’m an independent business owner. I’m in charge of my own life. And I love that, but when I listen to Mom talk about the early days of her and Dad’s courtship, it kind of makes me sad that some of those traditions are being lost. Some days, I’d like to experience it, and other days I don’t.”
Tate itched to rest his arm on her lower back as they walked down the darkened alley by her shop. Would this be one of those gestures she wanted? He compromised and raised his hand to her lower back, not touching but close enough that he could if she needed it. “I’m sure in time a balance will be struck that will please everyone.”
“I hope so,” she murmured as they stopped by her car, unlocking it. The flashing lights brightened the night for a heartbeat.
Deciding to risk it, he leaned around her and opened the door for her. “I had a really nice evening tonight, Kel. Thanks for asking me to join you.”
She looked up at him, the action bringing her face closer to his. In the muted glow from the only light in the parking lot, he caught the way her tongue darted out to moisten her lips. Tate bit back a groan. Memories from earlier in the day when he’d been tempted to kiss her in his kitchen slammed into him. His blood heated and his lower body tightened in his jeans.
He didn’t miss the increase in her breathing. “Kel?” he asked, sure of what he wanted but not wanting to assume she wanted the same thing.
“Tate,” she whispered and swayed a fraction toward him.
He rested his hand on her hip and lowered his head, keeping his eyes open. If she pulled back, he would give her space. Only she raised her face and their lips met.

Excerpt
“What’s a pretty girl like you sitting at a bar all by herself?”
That voice. So smooth, like warm chocolate sauce sliding down your throat. Such a shame it was the lamest pick-up line in history. That voice deserved something so much better.
Melinda Jones turned, a light shiver tingling down her spine as she locked eyes with a pair of deep blue ones.
“Please tell me you don’t use that line all the time.”
His laughter rumbled through her soul, and goose-flesh rippled down her arms. She was in serious trouble. The man should be locked up. No woman was safe from his voice or his laugh. No wonder he had such a good success rate with the opposite sex.
“Only for you, babe, would I use a line like that. I know I’m pretty safe from getting a swift hit in the ribs with your elbow.”
“It just gets better and better. I’m going to dance, excuse me.”
And with that, Melinda dumped her wine glass on the bar, slipped off the chair and headed for the dance floor to join her friends. It was stupid to feel so hurt but she did. James didn’t know she had feelings for him, so she really had no reason to be angry. To him, she was just his house-mate; the girl he could joke around with and test his pick up lines on.
The fact that she’d fallen in love him was her problem. He was the perfect house-mate. He cooked, cleaned, ironed and listened. He even watched chick flicks with her sometimes.
He was the perfect guy and to him, she was just Melinda; the girl whose house he shared. He’d never once batted an eyelid when she’d brought guys home. In the beginning, she hadn’t batted an eyelid when he’d done the same and bought girls home. The fact that she hadn’t gotten laid in over six months wasn’t his issue. It was totally hers.
The realization she’d fallen for him had been one Friday night when they’d been sharing Chinese. He’d said something and she’d looked over at him and WHAM that was when it had hit her. She’d fallen for him.
Mooning over a guy who wasn’t into you was the least attractive trait in a woman. How many times had she’d told her friends that? Now it was time to take her own advice and get over her feelings for James.
Melinda danced with her friends. She laughed at their jokes and gave the impression she didn’t have a care in the world.
“I’m getting a drink!” She shouted to her friends over the incessant thump of bass. They nodded and continued to dance.
Melinda headed towards the bar, wishing she’d worn her favorite, comfortable Jimmy Choos, instead of the new ones she’d bought that day. The shoes may have had sex written all over them, but they were pinching her toes.
She sat down on a recently vacated bar stool and ordered a fresh glass of white wine. Waiting for the bartender to return with it she looked around the club. The crowd had built while she’d been dancing. The testosterone level had risen tenfold.
As she gazed around, her eyes stopped at a pair of broad shoulders. His t-shirt fit him like a second skin.
Now that was the type of distraction she was looking for. She wanted—no needed—a body that night. Anything to take her mind off the one body she couldn’t have. It didn’t really matter that he wasn’t the hottest guy on the earth. At that moment Mr Heavenly Shoulders turned in her direction and locked eyes with Melinda.
Yes the night was definitely looking up, she thought.
Melinda gave him her come-hither smile. The invitation she was sending his way was very clear. The wink he gave in return told Melinda he was interested in taking her up on her offer.
The bartender arrived at that moment with her fresh drink. She reached for it, bringing it slowly to her lips, all the while watching and waiting for Mr Heavenly Shoulders to make his way to her. He’d taken two steps when he stopped abruptly, the flirty look stripped from his face.
He shrugged the heavenly shoulders she’d been imagining wrapping her arms around as if to say, “Thanks but not tonight.” He turned back to his friends.
“What the…?” There was no possible way she’d misread that look in his eye.
“He was only after one thing, you know.”
Melinda whirled around and faced the owner of the voice. The last voice she’d expected to hear warning her off a man. “Of course I knew exactly what he wanted. I invited him. I wanted to have wild animal sex with him.”
