“Are you accusing Kitty of going after your brother for his money?”

“She wouldn’t be the first.”

Willie set her jaw firmly, just as she always had when she was angry. “A decade later and you’re still following your father’s example. You still think the worst of women, don’t you?”

“I’m simply waiting to be proven wrong.”

“You were,” she said quietly, almost too low for him to hear.

“Once, Willie, and even that’s debatable. Every woman after you has fulfilled my lowest expectations.”

She looked away, a pale blush spread across the creamy pale skin of her chest. “Mrs. Turner,” she reminded him, facing him once again. “Kitty’s not like that. She doesn’t need his money.”

“Both your parents are gone and last time I knew, you hadn’t a penny to your name. How can she not need my brother’s money?”

“Because I make sure she’s taken care of. I’d do anything for that girl, no matter how silly or naïve she is. She’s still mine to take care of.” She jutted her chin proudly, just as she always had. George had to remind himself that this was no longer the stubborn, hopeful young woman he once knew, but a strong, experienced widow standing before him.

“Mr. Turner left you comfortable then?”

“My finances are none of your concern. We are doing quite well considering our circumstance.”

He found that hard to believe. “Beg your pardon, Mrs. Turner, but a vicar and a viscount are two very different things. Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll need to get on the road soon. I heard mention that there might be a great deal of rain coming, possibly snow, and I doubt the weather will hold off much longer.” He turned his back to her and continued gathering the necessary items from around the study.

“I can’t allow you to go by yourself,” Wilhelmina protested, ignoring his less than subtle hint that their discussion had ended. “There’s no way I could possibly trust you to address this situation fairly after the unwarranted judgement you’ve already made regarding Kitty’s character.”

“It’s only unwarranted if it’s not true and that remains to be seen, now doesn’t it?”

“I won’t let you do it, George.”

The use of his given name stopped him cold. He took a deep breath, then turned to her, arms folded across his chest. “What exactly do you propose I do then, Mrs. Turner?”

“Take me with you.”

Marc watched the faint outline come across the dense morning fog, becoming more discernible as it approached. The tall, thin figure was riding along at a perilous speed, given the morning’s lack of visibility. He thought perhaps it was some gangly young man misguided in the fog. It wouldn’t be the first time someone accidentally stumbled upon the vast property that made up his family’s immodest estate. Then the fog parted in an almost biblical manner, revealing his gross inaccuracy.Were those ... breasts? Marc closed his eyes and thought for a moment. Typically, women didn’t ride alone at such an hour and they certainly didn’t wander unexpectedly across his property. It’d been quite a while, his last birthday to be exact, since his last intimate encounter with a woman—a gift, compliments of St. Regis—so there was always the possibility that perhaps his half-drunk, sex-starved mind had conjured up the sensual image. He shook his head, opened his eyes, and looked back again toward the horizon. Yes, those were most certainly breasts. And she was most definitely not a young man. The woman’s riding habit pulled taut against her body as she raced toward him. Her hair was blowing behind her—various hues of auburn and gold, like wild flames curling about in the wind. Then a decidedly feminine voice burst through the morning’s silence, interrupting his self-doubt.
 “Oh, thank goodness I found you!” This was no mirage. She was indeed very real. And very loud.

Our interview

What would you have done differently if you were the main character of your book?

Though I love Tamsin, I know that I’m not at all like her. She’s more of a run with your heart, not your head kind of girl. I’m an over thinker – so nothing fun would have ever happened in the book.

What was your inspiration behind this book?

I come from a larger family, and have a few sisters. My mother is one of five sisters, and I think there’s a great dynamic there. I’ve always wanted to write about sisters, and I’m lucky to have the opportunity to do so in the Regency Blooms Series. Each book is about a different sister. Taming Miss Tisdale is about the “tomboy” of the group. Didn’t every family have one of those?

Why did you become a writer ?

I love writing. It sounds corny, but I always thought that I’d be a writer. I just enjoy creating stories and putting them to paper.

As a reader and writer I think it is important to get to know your fans and make a connection with them as an author who takes the extra step to hear what their fans think and want in their continued writing is continued success and key to selling more books .Do you agree with that ?

I completely agree with that statement. I encourage readers to reach out to me. I love having the feedback. The great thing about facebook and twitter is that you actually have the opportunity to speak to those who read your work. I’ve always enjoyed receiving messages from readers.


Do you have a favorite author or authors?

Judith McNaught – one of my all time favorites.

Do you like to write your books in a continuing series ?

I think it’s hard to let go of characters after spending so much time with them. The great thing about a series is that you get to spend some more time with them.

If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why?

In Taming Miss Tisdale I introduce Jason, and I love him. He’s very cocky, and that’s something I look for in book boyfriends. 

What kinds of books do you like to read in your spare time ?

I read a lot of regency – but I prefer the modern twist that authors Eloisa James and Tessa Dare put on it. I’m also a big fan of the Inside Out series by Lisa Renee Jones.

Do you cry when writing sad scenes?

Once. I did once – and it wasn’t even that sad!  It was the end of book one and I think I was just overwhelmed by the idea that I was actually finished.


Did you have a Cover Designer ?

Through my publisher.

Who is your fictional boyfriend or girlfriend crush ?

My friend Violetta Rand writes about a character named Aaron, who’d despicable when he first makes his appearance, but later appears in his own redemption story. He’s another one of my book boyfriends. I love a flawed hero.

If you were able to dine and have a one on one with your favorite writer/author who would it be ?

I’d love to talk with Judith McNaught – she wrote contemporary and historical and did them both really well.

Do just re-read your favorite books ?

I’m a re-reader. There’s some books I’ve read a dozen times just because.

Do you ever get in a reading slump like your readers do ?

Of course. In between series from my favorite authors. The time spent between Pennyroyal Green books has been agony for me.

What is the funniest book you ever read ?

I actually just read Lisa Kleypas’ Smooth Talking Stranger for the first time and that book made me crack up!
