Freda Ann
(Twinkle Falls, #4)
Publication date: November 28th, 2023
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

Kylee Croft finds herself pregnant and alone as an only child of her deceased parents. Her father died soon after her birth, and her mother recently passed. With her grandparents also deceased, all that’s left of the family she’d known were photos…or so she thought.

Uncovering the biggest secret of her mother’s life, Kylee leaves the idyllic town of Chantilly, France for Twinkle Falls, Vermont in hopes of finding the family she never knew existed.

Soon after arriving, she becomes friends with her handsome co-worker, Trace Holberg, a single dad raising twin boys by himself.

As Kylee and Trace’s relationship grows, she forges a friendship with Bridgette Dupont, the woman who gave her a job when she desperately needed one. She’s the same woman Kylee believes to be the sister she never knew about, and the daughter of a father who’s very much alive.

Will Bridgette and her father accept the news Kylee believes to be the truth, or will her hopes and dreams of a new family be shattered?

EXCERPT:

(Kylee and Bridgette)

“I think all of this could be a product of your imagination working overtime.”

“It’s not made up, Bridgette, I swear. Mummy gave me the first photo years ago, and it’s the only one I had of my father until—”

“Quit saying that!” She huffs, “I don’t even know for sure if the man in that picture is my father. Though, let’s say it is. There’s no possible way you could be his daughter.”

“Why? Am I not good enough to be a Dupont?”

“That’s not what I meant, and you know it.”

“Do I? We’re total opposites, Bridgette. You’re a successful baker who went to some prestigious culinary school, and I’m a struggling, knocked-up girl who takes any job she can to make ends meet.”

“Stop that. It sounds like you’re trying to play on my sympathy so I’ll change my mind about that photo.”

“Believe what you want.” I wince when my lower abdomen tightens. Reflexively rubbing it, I continue, “Like I said, she never talked about him. Mummy said they were only together a short time; however, he was in the Navy, and he died when I was just a baby.”

“There you go…that proves my father cannot be yours, because mine is very much alive.”

Still massaging my aching belly, I propose, “Well, maybe she lied about that part for some reason, I don’t know. Was your father ever in the Navy?”

“That means nothing—a lot of men have been in the Navy.”

“That sounds like a yes if you ask me.”

“Well, I didn’t ask you.” Her eyes flutter when she turns and takes a few steps.

“You’re avoiding the question.”

She turns back around. “He was, though only for a short time. I’ll have you know, my parents have been happily married for thirty-nine years, so there’s no way anything like you’re insinuating ever could’ve happened.”

Book Blitz & Giveaway for Her Bodyguard in Bliss by Freda Ann

Her Bodyguard in Bliss
Freda Ann
(A Bliss Cay Novella, #5)
Publication date: May 16th 2023
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Chance McNally is a former Navy Seal and a hot-headed Irishman who’s at the end of his rope trying to balance a new job while raising a difficult teenage daughter alone.

Along comes Riley Cole, a feisty event planner running a successful business, whose carefully curated life is changed by the constant threat of a dangerous stalker. Afraid for her life, she hires the best bodyguard in Bliss Cay…who happens to be Chance.

With Chance assigned to protect Riley, he must assume the role of her boyfriend in order to keep her safe from danger at all times—a feat easier said than done. When the two are together they’re oil and water, leading to explosive situations as they are forced to tolerate each other’s presence.

With Riley’s world turned upside down over the ever-constant threat of danger, the safety this fake relationship offers is something she realizes she’s been missing in her life. For Chance, Riley may be the spark of fire he needs to finally heal from past traumas.

Will the one person Chance never wanted in his life be the one to persuade him to face a tortured past, and will this relationship stay fiction—or can their growing feelings turn it into fact?

(Book 5 of a standalone series; can be read in any order.)

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

Only 99¢ for a limited time!

EXCERPT:

“For appearance’s sake, and to give you better access to Riley, I strongly suggest the two of you pretend to be a couple—nothing too serious since she’s here on business.”

“Are you kidding me?” Riley exclaims.

“I don’t know about that, Sloane. No one would believe we’re a couple, we clearly have nothing in common, and not an ounce of chemistry to pull it off.” I rest my hands on my hips, looking at my big sister whose eyes widen.

“Well, at least we agree on something.” Riley responds with a smirk.

“Like I said, Riley, it’s just a suggestion, though it’s one I’m confident can only help to assure your safety. The two of you have been in relationships before so I’m sure you can fake it.”

My sister stands and pulls Riley away from the table to talk to her. I walk over to the window, watching the cars drive by while thinking of the utter torture it would be pretending to be Ms. High and Mighty’s boyfriend, but refrain from expressing my feelings.

After much deliberation, Sloane steps closer and tells me, “It’s settled, Chance.” I join them in the middle of the room, when she adds, “You’re now Riley’s new boyfriend.”

I stifle my reaction, as she continues, “You’ve joined her in Bliss Cay for the summer to get to know each other better. That means you’ll need to study the intel I sent you to make your relationship believable. I trust you’ll fill Riley in on the details she’ll need to know about you to pull this off?”

Looking away, I grit my teeth thinking of this woman being privy to my personal life but push my feelings aside—at least for now.

“Of course,” I glance at Sloane before facing Riley. “Shall we get you settled into your rental house, Ms. Cole?”

“Yes, that would be perfect, but if we’re supposed to be involved,” she rolls her eyes, “you might as well call me Riley.”

“Fine, as long as you don’t ask me to call you honey,” I glare at her, unable to resist.

Sloane looks at me, flicking her head at the door. “Walk with me for a minute?”

“Sure,” I follow her to the hallway knowing what’s coming.

She faces me crossing her arms and wearing her boss face again. “The tension between you two better not escalate any further Chance, so find a way to civilly deal with our client. If you’ve lost your ability to be professional, despite your personal feelings, then let me know now and I’ll take the job.”

“I admit, the woman knows how to push my buttons, but I can handle her. Everything will smooth over before the day is done. Have faith in me, okay?”

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

EXCERPT:

“They’re gonna be here any minute, babe. Are you done over there?” I peek at Bridgette on the other side of the kitchen.

“Yes, the profiteroles are ready.”

While washing her hands, I sneak up behind my fiancรฉe, enveloping her in my arms. I pull her hair back and nuzzle her neck.

“That tickles, and you’re slowing me down. I wanna freshen up a bit before they arrive.”

“Just reminding you how much I adore you.”

Bridge lets go of the dish towel and turns around pecking my lips. “This will have to do for now. I’ll be back in a few minutes.

Grabbing the towel, I hold the end and pop her backside with it. “Don’t forget the flour on your forehead.”

“Hey, watch it buddy.” She looks over her shoulder flashing a smile that warms me all over.

“I’ll let you know when I see their car coming up the drive.”

“Okay,” she yells from the powder room under the stairs.

I sure hope mother doesn’t give Bridgette a hard time about the wedding planning. I know just how involved and pushy she can get. The last thing I want is for my fiancรฉe to have any more added stress leading up to the big day.

This visit is going to be interesting, to say the least. I’m getting an odd feeling about them showing up so last minute, especially after mentioning the news they wanted to share with me.

A couple minutes later, I yell, “I see their car, you almost ready?” Hearing footsteps, I turn around. “Whoa, look at you. How am I supposed to focus on my parents with you dressed like that?”

“You act like I’m half dressed. It’s just a sundress and heels. I wanted to look nice.”

“Babe, you look nice in jeans and a t-shirt. Mom already likes you, remember? And you won dad over the first time he met you.”

Grabbing her hand, I pull her into me, as she utters, “I like dressing up sometimes. Can’t I look good for my man?”

“I’m only saying you don’t have to try to look good. You’re beautiful inside and out no matter what you wear.”

The doorbell rings as she tips her head up for a kiss. “Saved by the bell.” She winks and lowers her arms.

EXCERPT:

“This is Dr. Jensen.” I answer the call that my office manager and best friend put on hold for me.

“Dr. Jensen, this is Lieutenant Vasquez with Colton P.D. I oversee our K-9 Unit. A month ago one of our dogs was shot on-duty and he’s still recovering from the shoulder injury, both mentally and physically.”

“Ah, yes, that was Blue, wasn’t it?”

“Yes, it was.”

“What can I help you with, Lieutenant?”

“Well, Blue and his handler, Sergeant Sam Wolfe, will be staying in Bliss Cay this summer for a much needed vacation. Since Blue is still under the care of our local Vet for his injury and PTSD, he’ll need to continue his course of treatment while there. Dr. Jensen, you came highly recommended, and I’m hoping you’ll take point with his care while in Bliss.”

It’s not often I’m speechless, but this is one of those times. Sam Wolfe is coming to Bliss and his boss wants me to take over his dog’s care…for two long months? I’m supposed to be in the same tiny room with my past all summer?

“Dr. Jensen, you still there? Hello?”

“I—I’m here. Sorry, one of my patients got loose.”

“Would you rather call me back?”

“No, no, it’s fine. I got her.” I say, closing my eyes and shaking my head after lying to the police. It was only a little white lie, right? Get it together, Isla.

“So, what do you say? Will you help a police dog in need?”

How can I say no when he puts it like that? Plus…it’s Sam’s dog. “I’ll do it.” I blurt out before changing my mind.

“Wonderful! We really appreciate your assistance. I have to tell you, Blue’s had a pretty rough time the last month, not to mention Sergeant Wolfe. Since the shooting, the two have been inseparable.”

“Really, it’s no problem at all. It’s my job and I’m happy to help in any way I can. So, uh, when will Sergeant Wolfe and Blue be arriving in Bliss?”

“They’ll be there Sunday—and if it’s okay, Sam will stop by your office on Monday to meet you and go over a treatment schedule that works for everyone.”

“So—Sergeant Wolfe doesn’t know I’ll be caring for Blue while they’re here?” I don’t know why I even asked that, it’s unlikely he knows my married name.

“Well, he knows of you, but I wanted to get your approval before I told him you agreed to take Blue on as a patient. I know he’ll be relieved since I mentioned your credentials. He loves that dog as much as he loves his son.”

Son? Sam has a kid? My pulse accelerates at the realization. Clearing my throat, I ask, “I assume his family will be joining him for the summer?” Thump-thump, thump-thump, my heart pounds in my chest. He’s your past Isla.

EXCERPT:

With my disguise in place and feeling like I might explode, I throw the car door open—only for it to stop halfway. It must’ve hit something. I squeeze through the opening while trying to push it further as I see some blonde with large sunglasses gawking at me.

“What’s your problem?” Raising my brows, I stare back at her wondering if my disguise didn’t work. Hopefully she’ll take the hint to leave me alone because I’m not in the mood to sign autographs.

“Excuse me?” Fluttering her eyes, she shuts her mouth and raises her brows. “You’re asking me what my problem is when you’re the one who hit me with your car door? What’s your problem? You barely missed my face!” She props her hands on her hips, shaking her head.

“Why are you walking so close to my car then? You people need to give me a break.”

You people? What the heck does that mean?”

“Duh, people like you who want something from me. Just give it a rest, okay?”

“Are you on drugs or something?” She pulls her glasses off, looking me in the eyes.

This woman is getting on my last nerve. “Don’t try to play dumb with me lady. I’m not falling for it.”

She squints at me. “Have you lost your mind, or are you rude by nature?”

“You can quit trying to be coy, I’m not interested!”

“Trust me buddy, I wouldn’t be interested in you if you were the last man on earth.” Eyeing the woman, Shane walks around to my door, in an attempt to diffuse the situation before I slam it shut.

“Unbelievable!” she yells before storming off.

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

After a longer than a planned visit, Mitch’s widow and I hug goodbye. Watching Rochelle’s car fade in the distance, I realize I have to talk to Pastor Morgan before things go any further.

Why am I such a mess? This is what I want. It’s all I thought about on base, and while driving home. What will mom and dad think?

I sigh and pull in the church driveway. Pastor Morgon texted me before I left the house. He said to meet him behind the church at the picnic table. What will he think about my plan? I guess I’m about to find out.

Turning the truck off, I take a deep breath and rub my hands over my face. It’s going to be fine. I give myself a pep talk as I amble along the sidewalk to the table where he sits eyeing me.

“You look like a man with something big on his mind.” He grins. “Have a seat. I figured a hot cup of coffee might calm your nerves.” Pastor Morgan notes in his southern accent.

Plopping down, I cradle the mug between my hands staring at it. “Did I sound that bad?”

The man whose gotten to know me all too well the last year chuckles. “Lets just say I can sense when things are out of whack. And if there was any doubt before you got here, your body language was a dead giveaway.”

Shaking my head, one corner of my mouth curls up before I sip the warm liquid. “I did a lot of soul searching while I was away and I made a life-changing decision.”

“Ahh, okay, that explains a lot. So now you’re having second thoughts?”

“No…not really. While I was away I spent time with someone I hadn’t seen in over a year. It’s someone I’ve thought a lot about since taking leave from the Air Force. She uh—helped open my eyes to what kind of future I want.”

With his hands steepled, he glares over his glasses at me. “Go on.”

Downing half my coffee, I set the cup down. “Will I be hurting the people I care about with the decision I’ve made? Am I making any sense?”

“Not so much. You know there’s not much I haven’t heard before and anything you tell me stays between you, me and the man above. I think the best thing you can do is spell it out for me Liam, Just start at the beginning.”

The last decade has changed them both. Harry has the responsibility of the monarchy looming over him, yet all he wants is to live his life with the woman he loves…a commoner in the eyes of the monarchy.
EXCERPT:
“Hey—you! The lady said to leave her alone. I suggest you do it. Now!”
I scan the direction where the contemptuous voice came from, and a tall dark figure steps from the shadows full of grace and virility.
Good Lord, where did the Adonis come from? I swear my heart skips a beat. A sigh of relief escapes me as my eyes, acting of their own volition, are drawn to what I can see of his face.
Not stopping there, they examine his firm features and confident shoulders. Please tell me I’m not dreaming. This guy is a photographer’s dream. Whew!
My involuntary perusal of the individual in front of us seems to be amusing as a corner of his mouth curls up. He pulls his gaze away, eyeing the idiot who has me pinned against the railing of the dock, an arm on each side of me.
When I strutted to the end of the dock moments ago, my focus was on a sliver of the moon peeking out from the horizon, and while I was snapping photos I suppose I should’ve been more aware of my surroundings.
Barely able to stand, the man restricting my movement glares at the Adonis with glassy eyes, as if he was from another planet. “I saw—“
He hangs his head low, looking pale before finishing, “I—saw her f—first.”
“Huh. So you saw her last year…before I proposed to her on this beach?” I raise my brows as Adonis fans his hand through the air while easing closer.
The guy, reeking of alcohol, glances in the direction Mr. Perfect motioned to. His legs wobble when he attempts to turn back around.
While the guy struggles to stay upright, Adonis flicks his head at me for my attention. Duh…does he not realize he’s had it from the minute he showed up? I tip my chin up, watching to see what he’s going to do.
He uses dummy-proof sign language, pointing to the inebriated man and motioning for me to move out of the way when he grabs him.
Bobbing my head, he wastes no time going into action and I take off running halfway down the dock to watch for the fallout.
As luck would have it, not a hair was harmed on his head or anywhere else on that hunky body. The weakened man didn’t even attempt to put up a fight.
Holding tightly onto him, they pass by me with a strong odor of alcohol in their wake. I trail behind flailing my hand in front of my face trying to breathe fresh air.
At the end of the dock, he mumbles something to the guy before pointing him to the left. He gives him a push off for good measure. I’m surprised he didn’t fall over.
He watches intently until the lanky frame fades into the night. As Mr. Perfect turns to face me, the light reveals his compelling blue eyes with a faint hint of humor bubbling beneath the surface.
Feeling more nervous than I was while being held against my will, I exhale and lock eyes with my savior. “Thank you, um…for that.” I point to the dead air feeling like a dumb blonde. “I was afraid I might have to resort to unladylike measures before you came along.” I snicker.
He grins looking devilishly handsome. The shadow of his well-groomed, closely shaven beard gives him an even manlier aura, if that’s even possible. Bearded men aren’t typically my type, but the guy totally rocks facial hair.
“I was happy to be of assistance.” He gives me a sideways nod. Well, that was different. Who nods like that?
The man has a very appealing British accent which compliments his tall, dark, and handsome physique. Could Adonis get any more perfect?

When her traumatic past resurfaces, rocking her to the core, Mia questions her future.
Dash Stevens, a Lieutenant with the county fire department, is a widowed father to his daughter, Allie. After three long years, he’s come to terms with single fatherhood. He insists that Allie is the only girl he wants in his life.
Newly-neighbored on Bliss Cay, Dash and Mia’s worlds intertwine changing their lives forever. Will Mia get the answers she so desperately needs? Will Dash’s ambitious personality push her away or is his compassionate heart exactly what she needs to help her find them?
In Summer in Bliss, wit and drive meets tragedy. Can the hunky fire lieutenant help Mia face her past and put her life back together?
EXCERPT:
“Aaaah!” Hack, hack. The pain was more than anyone should have to endure but she couldn’t move away. Held firmly against the sofa cushions, her life flashed before her eyes.
She would never see them again. Her mom, dad, step-dad and brother. Not her grandparents, aunts, uncles or close friends either.
No! I can’t die like this. After six long, tough years in the military where they pushed her to fight harder than she ever thought was possible—her life couldn’t end this way.
“Aaaah! Help me!” Hack, hack. “Help, somebody! Aaaah!” Her throat was raw from the thick black smoke threatening every breath she took.
Gasping for her next breath, the fiery pain chomping at Mia’s leg won the battle, consuming her as the room grew dark.
Groaning from the pain waking her, she felt wet sandpaper raking over her face, again and again.
When her eyes fluttered open, her senses returned and she felt a weight holding her against the bed. A twinge of pain crawled over her right thigh and using all of her strength, Mia pushed herself up and off the bed.
Unable to breathe, she bolted through the house until she found a door taking her outside into the fresh air.
She jumped from the porch landing onto the soft sand on all fours, gasping for air. Her head throbbed from her heart beating so loud.
“Arf! Arf! Arf!”
Trying to clear her lungs of the smoke, she breathed deeply and forced it out with an exhale. Breathe in, breathe out, she continued the pace while the pounding slowed.
As something grabbed her, she flinched. Standing unsteadily, she twisted from its grip, her arm flying through the air but was stopped by a large, firm hand.
“Mia, what happened? Did someone hurt you?” She stared up at the familiar hazel-blue eyes.
“Where are they? How many are there?” He gripped her biceps as anger filled his eyes.
“Bedroom…f—fire.” She forced the words out.
