The Trapped Daughter by Jay Kerk Blitz & Giveaway

The Trapped Daughter
Jay Kerk
Publication date: September 12th 2020
Genres: Adult, Psychological Thriller

Have you ever been trapped somewhere? I have.
Have you ever found that the world does not believe you? I did.
I have been betrayed by the people I trusted the most. They coil around me like snakes, lulling me with whispers about protection and safety and for your own good.
They offer up pills like sweets, promising me relief. Just take the meds and everything will be fine, Belle – the meds, Belle, the meds.
Everything will not be fine, and it never will be again. Justice is gone from the world. I have been wronged by Gabe, the man I loved most, and when I turned to others for backup, they sided with him because he’s a star. When I ran to my father for safety, he locked me up in his great big mansion and threw away the key. Now I drift like the ghost Gabe pretended I was, my bare feet tasting the coldness of rich tiles, my breath turning to ice.
Gabe isn’t real, they tell me. They insult me, they spit at me, then smile and pretend that they wish to help. Meanwhile, Gabe is out there, luxuriating in all that I won for him, and I suffer and burn.
EXCERPT:
Prologue
When locked up in my room, I can no longer imagine good things.
I take a piece of paper out of my notepad and cut it into small pieces. On each piece, I write: I am Belle. My father is holding me hostage at his home. I sign them all and fold the papers until they become small enough. I then scatter them around the room, under the closet, beneath the mattress, under the carpet, in the cabinets, and inside the drawers.
A few minutes later, I realize that all of the pieces I have hidden could be discovered in one sweep. If something happens to me, I want the police to know about my father. I start again. This time, I cut the paper into larger pieces so I can write a longer message.
My name is Belle Andresson. My father is holding me against my will at our home. My father is dangerous and unpredictable, and if something happens to me, he is to be blamed. Today is the eighth day, and most of the time I am trapped inside my room, with no means of communication.
I hide the papers in places they cannot be found easily: on top of the closet, taped to the curtain, and in a sealed bag in the toilet tank.
My fate is unknown to me. I can only think of escaping to survive, but before escaping, I must know why my father is doing this to me.

BOOK TRAILER:
EXCERPT:
Summer of 2012
The fiery sun casts its warm rays across the bustling city, and it feels hotter than the inside of a stove. The dryness in the air stills the trees that usually sway along with the cheery wind. The marigolds, no longer nourished and appealing, have crisp petals the color of umber. It hasn’t rained for days, and now the parched leaves are covered in layers of dense dust and thin cobwebs. I can hear the sharp noises of rustling leaves and wheels skidding on the road echo in the bedroom. I’m relaxing on Mom and Dad’s comfy bed, right under the gushing air vent, watching my favorite TV program when Mom comes marching into the room.
“Siya, do you know where my wallet is?” she channels her dark eyes on me. Her shiny black hair reaches below her shoulders, bouncing as she trots around the bed. After looking under the pile of house-decor magazines on her table, her eyes are drawn back to me as she impatiently waits for a response.
“No,” I say, tilting my head back to the large TV screen.
“I kept it on the bed around an hour ago before you started watching TV,” she says, placing her hands on her hips, “right on top of the blanket.
Are you sure you haven’t seen it?” I shake my head.
“Yes, I’m sure. I don’t know where it is.”
“The pizza delivery man is standing outside our house, and I really need to pay him, or he might just leave.”
My friend Lila is coming over for lunch, so Mom ordered pizza for us to eat.
“I really don’t know where your wallet is. It wasn’t on your bed when I sat entered the room.”
Mom lifts up the fluffy blanket beside me and sighs after she pulls out her wallet from under the blanket.
“There it is,” I say, watching Mom’s face turn into a slight frown as she furrows her eyebrows. She presses her lips together.
“Lila’s mom said that Lila will be here in half an hour. Remember to get dressed on time.”
“Okay,” I mutter, so that Mom will stop troubling me.
“And turn off the TV in five minutes. You’ve already watched a lot of TV today.” She walks out of the room, leaving the door a little open even though she knows it annoys me. I’m in the middle of the best scene in the episode, and I cannot let anyone ruin it for me.

Haven Ward only had one job as a personal bodyguard-keep Mackenzie Stiles alive and unharmed.

After making a monumental mistake, his billionaire boss is livid and ready to send him packing. Haven begs Mr. Stiles for a second chance to prove himself; and surprisingly enough, he gives him one...with one small catch.

Befriending Mr. Stiles' shy, recluse daughter seems like a piece of cake especially since Haven needs his job to provide for the people depending on him.

Mackenzie is a beautiful girl with an ugly darkness in her that Haven slowly begins to unravel. As he helps her slay her demons, she becomes an irresistible force he can't resist.

Despite the consequences, Haven believes Mackenzie was always meant to be his to protect. He'll do anything to be with her, even come clean to his boss about their relationship.

When Mackenzie finds out her father paid Haven to be her friend, the betrayal has her questioning every second with the man she thought loved her, sending her spiraling out of control.

In the end, Haven realizes too late that no matter how hard he tries, there's nothing he can do to keep Mackenzie safe from herself.

But that doesn't stop him from risking his life to save hers.

Haven can be read as a standalone, however it includes characters first mentioned in Alex (Cocky Cage Fighter, Book 9).

Warning: The characters in this fictional story struggle with serious emotional issues like depression and suicide which could be a trigger for individuals who have experienced similar situations.

What and awesome story and I throughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.The story was fun and flirty and funny and had amazing "oh," so love-able characters.

We loved the fun and flirty Haven who was sexy and all alpha. We loved his flirtatious nature and his crude sexy talk and demanding ways.We loved how cute he was always walking around with a constant hard on whenever he was around Mackenzie as his uneasiness made us constantly laugh out loud as his facial expressions were priceless!

Mackenzie was a complicated character who was suffering with her mental stability but, being around Haven has her coming out of her shell and slowly finding ways at being happy.Mack also could be fun and flirty and we loved seeing her that way because she has been in such a dark place for so long and it was so nice to see some lightness surround her we also loved that she was generous and kind and we loved how she teased her big brother.

What a cute love story that was built on friendship but, turned into something so much more.Haven and Mack were super hot in and out of bed together and they made one adorable couple. The story also had a serious tone to it as well because no matter how things were going for Mackenzie  her father and Haven constantly worried about her mental state. Haven was getting to know Mack's well enough to know her tells and how she dealt with certain things and he was slowly finding out what made her tick hoping to be their when she needed him most.

Overall it was a heart felt tale that kept us interested and turning the pages. We loved that Mack found solace and love in the arms of her sexy hot bodyguard and the way the author ended the story seemed to be this couple fate whether it was good or bad it was theirs to conquer.

definitely swoon worthy...
