This was a nice addition to this ongoing series. This story's plot is messy, misunderstandings, filled with family drama, pain, regrets, heartache, hope, second chances, and healing, secrets coming to life, abuse stationed in a small town where everyone looks out for everyone, an extended family of sorts, for others it holds nothing but pain and heartache.
Storm made it to the big leagues, although he had a lot of ups and downs along the way. He only has one regret, and that is leaving the woman he loved behind. Storm is a complex character; his emotions are all over the place, and he is consumed by rage. It just breaks your heart. Life has hardened him; there is only one woman who could attempt to break down the man's barriers, and that is Poppy, with the help of her adorable daughter.
Poppy was a kindhearted, lovable character who was a wonderful single mother and was loved by everyone in her hometown. She was beautiful inside and out. Storm's return home has stirred up old memories, both good and bad, and her one goal is to protect her heart and that of her daughters.
This plot takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Some parts tear out your heart, others have you laughing, and at times, shedding a tear or two. The characters are fantastic. You will encounter the Cedar Hollow mafia, and it is not what you would think; they provide laughs throughout.
The favorite parts would be the arrival of one of Storm's teammates, a character that made you laugh, the tender moments spent with Storm and Poppy's daughter, and the hope of second chances and healing the bridge between Storm and his brother Rain. There was one scene between them that we had to get the tissues out, as it was that profound. We loved it!
