How is it possible to be surrounded by people who love me, yet I still feel alone?

Everyone is falling in love, and it’s like I’ve been left on the outside.

I want that for myself, but the thought of putting myself out there is terrifying.

Growing up being told you’re ‘too much’ puts a dent in your confidence, no matter how hard you try to hide it.

Until one day, Lieutenant Hunter Bowen finds me trapped in an elevator.

His kind words and gentle smile only heightens the crush I have on him, and when he asks me to join him one night, I push my fears aside and say yes.

I’m great at controlling the rebound on the ice, but when it comes to bruised hearts?

I guess we’ll find out.

Hunter

When I became a widower seven years ago, my entire world was flipped upside down.

I needed a fresh start, so I left the military and moved across the country, and vowed never to fall in love again.

That was until I met Elliot Olsen.

The guy who has the brightest smile, the biggest heart, and a whole heap of unspoken emotions.

I try to keep my heart at a distance, but the fire burns too bright between us to ignore.

The only problem is I’ve been here before, and I don’t know if I can risk having my heart torn apart again.

Rebound Control is a sports romance featuring a hockey goaltender and a firefighter. It includes ADHD rep, a protective mc, late night ice cream drives and all the Thunder found family vibes.

It is book five in the Chicago Thunder series and can be read as a standalone.

This is a new author for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed our first book by them. Elliot and Hunter have quickly become one of our favorite couples. Lieutenant Hunter Bowen, a former Navy SEAL now working for the Fire Department, and Elliot, a goalie for the Chicago Thunder hockey team, are the main characters in this beautiful love story. Their paths cross during a power outage, where Hunter's remarkable care and understanding towards Elliot mark a significant moment in their relationship. Their connection is beautifully portrayed as they discover a deep need for each other. Elliot is a character you can't help but fall in love with, and all his quirks make him even more lovable. Finding answers to the questions he had regarding those quirks must have been a relief to him, explaining why he felt the way he did sometimes in daily life. He was such a sweetheart of a character that we wanted to adopt him. Hunter's patience and acceptance of Elliot were beautiful. He was supportive, loving, and allowed Elliot to set the pace in their developing relationship. Privately, Elliot struggles with anxiety, panic attacks, and other issues that make him feel like he doesn't fitin. The chemistry between this couple was palpable, and we adored them together. Hunter finally opening his heart to love again, after closing himself off following the death of his husband, was heartwarming. Their love story unfolded so naturally. The entire cast of characters was awesome, loving, and supportive, unafraid to show their love for one another. After reading about them, we're eager to pick up their stories as well because they were all so interesting. The book evokes laughter and tears, capturing emotions with clarity. The presence of dogs and otters adds charm to the story.
