The slow burn in this story is captivating. Ollie, a 24-year-old Bigfoot shifter and ice hockey player is a virgin, as revealed on national TV. His struggle to move out of the friend zone with his best friend, Phoebe, adds depth to the plot. Phoebe, a curvy woman, desires a romantic relationship with Ollie beyond friendship. This woman was a fun character who made us laugh, her excitement infectious, but she also showed us her vulnerability. The miscommunication and mixed signals between them create an intriguing dynamic. Ollie was a sweetheart of a character who was lovable, had a sense of humor, caring, but we loved the way he wore his heart on his sleeve when it came to Phoebe. They made a beautiful couple as they were perfect for one another. We were glad when they stopped tap dancing around one another and got down to the business of confessing their love for one another. The story is filled with humor, emotions, and heartwarming moments as Ollie and Phoebe navigate their feelings for each other. Ollie's unwavering devotion to Phoebe and their journey towards love make for a compelling read. The supportive camaraderie among Ollie's hockey team adds a delightful touch. The story in a perfect and satisfying ending. This was our first book by this author, we thoughly enjoyed our first read by them and were pleasantly surprised that the paranormal characters are out in the open and so many different species among each other, that was something fun and different, and we loved that.
