Release Blast for Homecoming by Ana Balan

HOMECOMING

Ana Balen

Release Date: December 15

Ian Williams and Lola Adams met when they were kids. Living in a dreadful place, they leaned on each other to get through the day.   Then, at age sixteen, Ian had to go away and leave Lola behind. At the crossroads, before parting ways for good, they promised each other they would always remember their time together.   Fifteen years go by, and the impossible happens. They meet again in the unlikeliest of places.   Lola has never forgotten her friend from childhood, and over the years she has developed a crush on the man that appears in papers on a weekly basis. But Ian doesn’t seem to remember the girl from his past right away.   Seeing the hurt on Lola’s face drives Ian to make things right. But, how can he do that when he’s keeping secrets that could destroy everything?   Brought together by fate, and still getting to know each other as adults, they face the massive battle of beating demons from the past, and the hostile world of Formula One, trying to give their future a chance.

First off we have to say that this is a brand new author for us and we enjoyed our first read by them. We are a sucker for second-chance romances and we are glad we gave this one a try because normally we shy away from sports romances in general other than hockey romances and that's only because I used to date a hockey player and the sport grew on me. But, as a reader, we like to challenge ourselves to read out of our comfort zone and this story was perfect to do just that the characters were great Lola and Ian were characters easy to fall in love with.

The thing about love life and commitment is it is all about timing sometimes and for Ian and Lola it just wasn't their time but, fate would give them a chance to pursue what each other had always desired hoping that the connection and love they had for one another all those years ago was still there to build on and perhaps have a future they always dreamed about.

We thought Lola was a riot bold and beautiful and even terrified she took a chance to make her dreams come true and that was the same for Ian. Ian has come a long way but, the secrets he buries tend to eat the man up with guilt even years later.

Ian who had a rough start in life but, with a twist of fate and the right guidance pursued his dreams in life and became successful. The only thing he was missing in life was the girl he left behind.

Overall we enjoyed the story that was about second chances, reaching your dreams and goals, great friends, jobs you love, pain, sorrow, blackmail, jealousy, heartbreak,  pain, love, and connections. We loved the chemistry between Lola and Ian and early on you knew they were each other's soulmates so you were rooting for the happily after-afters—the side characters were great too. The story was engaging and had a bit of drama, we loved what Ian did for a living and understood his frustrations at times because in his career those things that happened to him are real and common in real life as well and are more than you know but, loved that Lola was furious on his behalf so much so to go as far as exposing those wrongdoings not that it came to that. A fierce little warrior she was. This was a nice fast-paced read to pass the time and we felt like we were smiling throughout the story.

    Meet Ana Balen:

Ana Balen was born in Zagreb, Croatia, where she still lives with her husband, their son (read boss!) and the son’s pet rabbit named Shhh! (or some other gibberish that’s the favorite of their son for the day.) She spends her days driving her husband up the wall (when he can’t get her ass up from the bed in the mornings), reading and daydreaming, or following orders from a two-year old. In the hectic life she leads (and loves every second of it), she never thought about writing. But, then one day a name popped in her head, then, the snippets of things, and she sat down and started typing. Next thing, she wrote a book. And now, she’s trying to write another one ;)I couldn’t be more grateful for this wonderful career.
