Let's start off by saying that we absolutely loved this box set in this continuing series because the characters are just amazing both good and evil. We have to say that this series is not for the light-hearted and has many triggers but, if you are into a dark romance with deplorable characters and stories that are edgy and make you uncomfortable and have to on the seat of your pants the entire to this series is for you. These stories are filled with a ton of emotion that makes you sad and will tear out your heart but, It is also filled with desire and pain and sex and characters that are somewhat broken but, still have the strength to carry on and are formidable and determination and when they find love the sacrifices they are willing to endure for the love are overwhelming and heart wrenching.
Lucia was one of my favorite characters in this series perfect of Tate in every way. The chemistry between them was off the charts.
Kate surprised us. Where had the timid little girl gone? She survived captivity once will she do it again? This time she is strong and determined and is feisty and has no problem speaking her mind but, she needs to outsmart and outwit her captor and use the knowledge she gained from her previous capture to get through to the monster and find out what caused him to become the monster in front of her if she wants to live.
Tiago is the villain you love to hate and rightly so but, you can't help but, be drawn to the man's power and presence. The entire story I thought is there even a speck of goodness in him? The man is deranged is a sadist who loves inflicting pain and sorrow and causing unspeakable pain and loves watching people break but, deep down does he believe that love exists?
Overall the story was a reviving read! Ms. Goodwin is a master storyteller who draws you right in and makes you fall in love with her broken characters and her villains. These stories are so dark! My heart is still pounding and the stories over but, one thing for sure is that she created unforgettable characters that will not be forgotten anytime soon. Even though these stories are standalone's it is important to read the books in order as the previous books give you so much history into the characters and what they have already survived and endured. The story engrossed us from the very first chapters and kept us glued to the pages to the bitter end. I will say that a series like this and the stories in this latest box set are challenging reads for us because the characters are so heart wrenching that their stories want to rip out your heart but, you fall in love with their strength and determination and loved them even more for everything they have survived and overcome and somehow finding love makes it all worthwhile in the end or has it just prepared them once again to survive your latest nightmare and hardship? Honestly, we don't know how this author even got through writing these stories without falling apart herself but, one thing is for sure she knows how to make you fall in love with each one of her characters and has you hoping and praying that there is even a smidgen of hope and redemption for these villains and monsters who caused so much pain for the ones who captured our heart.
