This author combo both are new to me and it was the first time reading them, and we really enjoyed our first read by these two talented authors. I love reading Mafia Romance and this story just proved why the story was filled with a ton of danger, a ton of suspense, had awesome characters, angst, brutality, men you despise, a danger that lurks and every corner, had a love triangle, and a mystery that needed solving. There were a ton of things that I loved about the story and several I didn't but, that is only because I am not keen on the back and forth past present thing and having to constantly remember this is a book of fiction and not real life because I wanted to scream at Eden saying what the He** were you thinking constantly? From the moment you turned the first pages the first chapter pretty much set the tone of the book and what was to come. There would be danger and darkness and heartbreak on the horizon for Tristan, Romeo, and Eden. Two brothers in love with the same women one brother mafia connected and not a made man but, the man who cleans their money, so he is connected to them and the other brother a made man and a Casanova on the way to the top and one woman who grew up in the life because her dad had been a made man and three friends who were inseparable until they weren't. This story was full of angst and a train wreck waiting to happen from the moment you started turning the pages you were waiting and sitting on the seat of our pants constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop as the saying goes. What was Eden thinking? In love with one brother who then marries the other all-knowing that the man she truly desires will always remain in her heart. I believed that she did love Tristan in some capacity but in love though remains to be seen. I loved all the characters as they were messy and far from perfect . There was jealously and desire, and lies and deceit, possessiveness, and protectiveness, and those who only wanted to own and possess while the other just craved love. Overall we really enjoyed the story and Naz ended up being the best part of the story for us that little man just melted our heart. Tristan turned out to be quite a disappointment but, from the moment we met him, and knew his jealously toward his brother would be his undoing. Romeo is a character you love to hate and despise because of his cruelty and brutality and whoring ways but, he was loyal to a fault to his family and loyal to the only women he ever loved whom he vowed to love and protect and see to her happiness even if that meant protecting her from himself all the while knowing she would be the only women who would live within that black heart of his. Without giving the story away there was more than meets the eye when it comes to these characters where they are concerned. For instance, Romeo's Casanova reputation was just a means to an end and one all about protecting the family and the ones he loves but, there was so much more to this dark and dangerous man we just saw on the surface. In the end, we thoroughly enjoyed and loved the story that was riddled with angst and heartbreak and secrets so many secrets, and we are so looking forward to what comes next in this ongoing series.
