USA Today Bestselling Author, Dani René, brings you a steamy romance written in the Fusion Universe of the New York Times Bestselling Author, Kristen Proby.
Elisabetta has been running from her past for far too long, but when she lands in Portland, she’s ready to start fresh. Her love of cooking brings her to a place she can call her own. She’s determined not to get involved with anyone. Her focus is on the bakery. But one meeting with a realtor, Rome Donovan, knocks the breath from her lungs. No man has ever affected her like he does.
The more she pushes, the more he pulls until finally, the beautiful baker relents and agrees to a date.
It’s only one night.
That’s all it can ever be.
This was just an okay read for me and I think my biggest problem is that I just could not connect with its characters. The characters me were likable enough just not loveable.
I did like the fact that there was that mafia tie in to add a bit of suspense. The story did have a ton of sexy scenes I just never felt the heat.
I loved the fact that Lisabetta found a way to take charge of her life.
Rome was just one of those romeo's that made you smile because of his teasing and dirty words.
Overall the story was a cute one and one that was fast forward from the moment they met and I think that is why I was not loving the story either because there were things that started bugging me that started taking place to soon. For instance who takes a vacation in the middle of a major renovation when your on a time constraint to payback the don of the mafia who just had a threatening convo about money.Stuff like this and then you had the business with your father where you are on the run scared and afraid one minute and then your not because you have a new man in your life. Your old beau was a heck of lot scarier than the new one. Without giving away the whole story to make these things make sense I just could not see certain scenarios being plausible and playout the way they did on the current time frame later down the line yes.
I know this is a book of fiction and things like this should not bother me but, they matter to me. The story was enjoyable to pass the time but, not one that would be put into my re-read pile. We can't love them all and that's okay because I have absolutely loved tons of other books from this author this one just not one of my favorites but, I think this an amazing author overall.
