Excerpt:
A woman with a white-blonde pixie haircut backed out of the shop and dammit if he couldn’t stop himself from gawking. She was slender, but not in a bones-pressing-skin kind of way. She had a figure that could only be toned with good nutrition and rigorous activity. Oh yeah, she was built for stamina.
She locked the door, and turned toward him, tipping back her head.
The bluest eyes he’d ever seen stared up at him. They were ringed with navy and glimmered with silver flecks. They were also wide with...fear? No, that couldn’t be it if her smile were anything to go by. Her beautiful face seemed to swallow up the glow of the streetlamps, the passing headlights, the goddamned moon.
“Hi.” Her smile wavered. “You look lost. Can I help?”
Oh Christ, her voice. It was the complete package, like the full-bodied Fsus2 chord humming from the hole in his Martin Acoustic. Gentle, cool, hypnotic—
“You’re lost, right?”
She had no idea. “Just found what I’m looking for.” Smooth, Jay. What the hell was he doing?

About the Author:
Pam Godwin lives in Missouri with her husband, their two children, and a foulmouthed parrot. When she ran away, she traveled fourteen countries across five continents, attended three universities, and married the vocalist of her favorite rock band. Now, she resides in her hometown, earning her living as a portfolio research analyst, and living her yearning as a writer.
Java, tobacco, and dark romance novels are her favorite indulgences, and might be considered more unhealthy than her aversion to sleeping, eating meat, and dolls with blinking eyes.
Our Interview
What would you have done differently if you were the main character of
your book?
No way would I have been as fearless as she is. The abuse is
horrific and she survives it with grace.
What was your inspiration behind this book?
A decade spent with my husband’s band, rockstarving, late
night venues, and ahhhh, the groupies. Yeah, I was a groupie.
Why did you become a writer?
I’ve read horror and romance voraciously since I was young
enough to have to hide the taboo content from disapproving adults. At some
point, I began rewriting the books I read in my head, with different characters
and alternate endings. The Anita Blake series tipped me into outlining my first
story. I wanted that series to take a different direction, so, I wrote my own
horror thriller (Dead of Eve) and found an obsession that has taken over my
life.
As a reader and writer, I think it is important to get to know your
fans and make a connection with them as an author who takes the extra step to
hear what their fans think and want in their continued writing as continued
success and key to selling more books. Do you agree with that?
I’m a reader before I’m a writer, and when authors care
about my opinions, I squeal with fan girl delight. I read every review on my
books. Hell, I read every review on my favorite authors’ books. Chatting on
Goodreads is one of my favorite distractions. I don’t know how that equates to
selling more books, nor do I care. I simply love to imbibe the buzz of readers.
It gets my heart pumping and my blood aflowin’.
Do you have a favorite author or authors?
Too many to name, but I’ll stick with my top four:
Jacqueline Carey, Barbara Elsborg, Joey Hill, and Tiffany Reisz.
Do you like to write your books in a continuing series?
No. I need a break from the characters. I’m not averse to
writing a series—I’m actually in the middle of writing one. I just need to
write something different in between books.
If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why?
Joscelin Verreuil in Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel's Legacy
series. He’s so admirably loyal to his priesthood and beliefs, yet his strength
is tried and tested a million times over through his love for the heroine and
horrors they face. He is the epitome of the fictional hero and his courage
shines in the best series ever written.
What kinds of books do you like to read in your spare time ?
Dark erotica, adult romance, horror, sci-fi, paranormal
Do you cry when writing sad scenes?
No. I don’t cry. Ever. Seriously. I think my tear ducts are
broken.
Did you have a Cover Designer?
streetlightgraphics.com. They put up with my nit-picky
bullshite and deliver great results.
Who is your fictional boyfriend or girlfriend crush?
Michonne from The Walking Dead. She’s a passionate beauty
and a heart-thumping badass. I’d totally switch teams for her.
If you we able to dine and have a one on one with your favorite
writer/author who would it be?
Joey Hill. And just to rub it in, I’m having dinner with her
at the Authors After Dark convention in Aug 2013. Hell to the Yeah!!!!! I’m so
excited, I just know I’m going to embarrass myself.
Do you re-read your favorite books?
Sometimes. Not as often as I used to. Too many books on my
TBR.
Do you ever get in a reading slump like your readers do?
Nope. There are too many fantastic books I’ve yet to read.
What is the funniest book you ever read?
Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1) by Tara Sivec.
Best standup comedy in a fictional book. You’ll want to wear adult diapers.
Guaranteed panty wetting.

Love your site. Thanks for the promo, babe!
I get the need to write something different in between writing a series, as I can not read them back to back, I need to read something in between. Great excerpt and love the cover.
