The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Once you start The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, there's no turning back. This debut thriller--the first in a trilogy from the late Stieg Larsson--is a serious page-turner rivaling the best of Charlie Huston and Michael Connelly. Mikael Blomkvist, a once-respected financial journalist, watches his professional life rapidly crumble around him. Prospects appear bleak until an unexpected (and unsettling) offer to resurrect his name is extended by an old-school titan of Swedish industry. The catch--and there's always a catch--is that Blomkvist must first spend a year researching a mysterious disappearance that has remained unsolved for nearly four decades. With few other options, he accepts and enlists the help of investigator Lisbeth Salander, a misunderstood genius with a cache of authority issues. Little is as it seems in Larsson's novel, but there is at least one constant: you really don't want to mess with the girl with the dragon tattoo.
My Thoughts and Review...
I have to say that a friend recommended I read this series at the time she was reading The Girl who kick the Hornets nest and she said I should start from the beginning. These are the kinds of books that I don't normally read but, I gave it a chance.I have to say from the very beginning I was wowed and hooked. The intrigue in this book was unbelievable.I normally don't like the kind of violence Lisbeth went through and read about it but, I was part of the story that made Lisbeth who she was and what she was capable of.Mikael got of love him!I felt so much heartache for Lisbeth what she went through as a child and as a young adult.I am glad she had the chance to meet a work with Mikael. These two made and exceptional team together trying to find out what happen so many years ago on why Harriet disappeared. Was it murder ? That's what the need to find out. They pool there resources and drive right in to the case on the aspects they are both good at. Lisbeth is great with computers and finding anybody and The two start finding all sorts of information that can help solve the case. The two start a simple affair while they are hunting clues for the case. Lisbeth slowly comes out of her shell bit by bit and seeing a little bit of happiness in her messed up life brought some tears my way..The other characters in the book where interesting along with there pasts.Lisbeth and Mikael are in so much danger they need to watch each others back somebody doesn't want them finding out what really happen so long ago.. The both seem to solve the case at the same time but, separately with the information they have uncovered There are tons of twists and turns along there adventure. A series killer and Natzi and the missing Harriet are they connected ? Danger is lurking at ever corner for both of them. What a surprise ending didn't see that one coming. Loved it!
This book is not for the faint of heart as the is rape and hot sex involved .But, if you want to sit on the seat of your pants kind of book this is the book for you filled with tons of intrigue and very suspenseful and spies. A Recommended read!
