Description

A medieval story of love and betrayal.

As a rebellion sweeps England, Lady Annabel finds her home overrun by rebels. Much to her relief, a dark knight comes to her rescue, claiming to have been sent to protect her by her uncle.

But Nicholas holds a secret about the job he was sent to do and it is a far cry from what Annabel believes it to be. As the attraction between them grows, Nicholas begins to question the dark life he has lived. But is it enough to change him and will Annabel ever trust again after learning the true nature of his sinful duty?

My Thoughts and Review

Looking at the cover of this book who wouldn't want to hire this man - perfect cover for the book.

Nicholas is a hired assassin for the right price he can be bought and he will kill without any remorse. He knows he has no soul. No one knows who he is, anonymity is how he likes it until he meets Annabel. Hired by her uncle to bring Annabel back to him so he can take over the keep that was bestowed upon her by the king when her parents died. Her uncle, jealous and thinking it should have rightfully been his, wants to do away with his niece while all along having the king believe her a traitor.

Nicholas sets off to get Annabel and from the start has to fight for her life, rescuing her from her own keep under attack by rebels it starts right from the very beginning, her subtle looks his way, her small frame, and her different yet exquisite looks draw him in. She is nice to him from the very start and grateful he saved her from the rebels.

She believes he is there to rescue her and take her back to her uncle under her uncles orders, and through the rough journey she slowly charms him, tries to befriend him and falls in love with him. Nicholas however fights it the entire time, even at one point chasing her away on fear of killing her. But then regrets his actions chasing after her only to find her life in peril and rescues her yet again. She knows then he loves her too even if he can't say it yet. She will get him to say it.

Finally just as she declares her love for him her uncle appears - she is wary as Nicholas has informed her of her uncles evil side until she is told of why Nicholas was really in her life. She turns from him forcing him from her life and he leaves broken. She never wants to see him again but not before he gets her uncle out of her life so she can at least be free, even if it means free from him.

Later he returns secretly to return something very precious to her she thought lost forever. She is startled to find him there but thrilled as she has learned she truly loves him even if their meeting was not under the right circumstances. He tells her then how much he loves her. And that is where I will leave my review as I don't want to give away any more.

You wont be sorry for reading this book, and I hope the author thinks of making a sequil to this I would love to see what happens with Nicholas and Annabel and.......

SUPER READ!!!!! A medieval story of love and betrayal.
