Book Review for WITHIN A CAPTAIN'S POWER by Lisa Olech

WITHIN A CAPTAIN'S POWER
by Lisa Olech
PUB DATE: 4/4/2017
Genre: Historical Romance

Never underestimate the power of a pirate . . .

Captain James Steele is duty bound to capture the privateer Scarlet Night and bring her rebellious crew to England to hang. Then he will leave his majesty’s service, make an upstanding marriage, and join the landed gentry. But the winds of fate are blowing the straitlaced commander utterly off course.

Once aboard, James comes face to face with a pirate boy who is in reality fierce, desperate—and gorgeous—Samantha Christian, on the run from a sadistic Virginia plantation owner. With her identity unbound, the good captain dutifully takes her under his personal command, whereupon decorum goes out the porthole. But while his heart is lost to Samantha by the time they reach England, her noose still awaits. Now James’s sense of duty will be severely tested. As for Samantha, she has a plan, and a duty, of her own . . .

What a wonderful love story.I loved the characters they were intriguing ,funny, kind protective, stern an all so love-able.I definitely would love to read more books in its series.

Samantha had to be my favorite character.I found her to be loving, brave, had a backbone, adventurous ,protective, smart and intriguing and to prideful to the point that it gets you killed. Samantha plotted and made plans to get herself out of a bad situation where she is being beaten, raped and tortured with the help of a friend who helps her escape to a pirate ship. You had to be in awe of her bravery for escaping and then having to keep up a charade of being a cabin boy without the other crew members finding out her secrets.Samantha made me laugh so many times and with her antic's especially for not thinking before she acted. She kept getting herself in some scrapes that is for sure .(chuckles)I loved how bold she was with Captain Steele whether it was in the ballroom or the ships cabin she created some very steamy interludes with that dreamy captain of hers.

Tupper omg ,what apiece of work she was bossy, bold ,mouthy, sweet kind and protective she made one hell of a captain and a women to boot! Loved that little surprise!

Poor James he was stuck between a rock and a hard place from the onset of the story trying to save the women he loved and the women who saved his parents. You felt horrible for him as there was a chance that he would never be able to be with the women he had come to love.I found him to be love-able ,kind and caring ,sexy as sin and honorable and honest and protective , loving and willing to go out on a limb for those he cared about.

I love when you can connect with the characters that you read about and I was able to do that with them they were just so love-able and honorable.James and Samantha's romance was doomed from the onset which had me rooting for them to be able to claim their happily ever after.

A great read that was fast paced, had an intriguing funny plot with a great bunch of characters with a few surprises thrown in the mix . A cute loved story. We loved it!

A recommend read to all. Will definitely he checking out the other books in its series.
