Author:  Christina Jean Michaels

Release: July 19, 2012

Age Group: New Adult/Adult

Genre: Contemporary/Romantic Suspense

Links to the book:

Book Description:

“I had my first psychic dream when I was nine. Psychic implied power, and powerful wasn’t a word I’d use to describe myself. I couldn’t foretell the future or conjure visions at will, but I couldn’t think of a more fitting word to describe what I sometimes saw in my dreams.”

For 23-year-old Mackenzie Hill, tossing her life down the garbage disposal is easy after a painful incident shatters her life. Her heart is bleeding, and moving to Watcher’s Point is a chance to start anew, only she isn’t prepared for the guy who walks out of her dreams and into the flesh. Literally . . . because she’s been dreaming about this sexy stranger for years.

Mackenzie is even less prepared to face the dark nature of her dreams. They’ve turned disturbingly gruesome, full of blood and murder, and when they begin to coincide with the media’s headlines, she and Aidan realize her visions might be the key to stopping a madman from killing again.

Only Aidan has painful secrets of his own, and perhaps the biggest danger of all is falling for him.

About the Author

Christina Jean Michaels was born in Paradise, California, but she has found the true home of her heart in Eugene, Oregon where she finds plenty of inspiration for storytelling.

When she was young, her mother said she hated words. Now she can't imagine not writing. She became an avid reader when she was thirteen and discovered the world of Sweet Valley High. About a year later she realized she could play God and write about her own characters. She has been writing in some form ever since.

She lives with her husband and their four children—three rambunctious UFC/wrestling-loving boys and one girl who steals everyone’s attention.

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Frost wants none of it, dreaming instead of a career in art or photography or…well, anything except working in the family’s museum. She knows the items in the glass display cases are fakes because, of course, magic doesn’t really exist.

Author Interview

What would you have done differently if you were the main character of your book?

Since Bianca is based on me when I was 17 years old everything she does in the book is basically what I would’ve done had I been in her shoes.

What was your inspiration behind this book?

First Frost was initially inspired by a commercial I saw on TV for a local children’s museum. I started thinking about how children often go through phases. One moment they’re into trains, the next it’s all about cars, pirates, etc. And I thought they should have themed museums, like a pirate themed museum or a fairy tale themed museum. I swear to God, it felt as though I had been struck by lightning when that idea came to me. I was like, ‘I have to write this down somewhere!’ LOL After that the book sort of wrote itself.

Why did you become a writer ?

I’m pretty sure if I didn’t write my brain would explode. LOL I became a writer because it’s the best way for me to express myself. It’s how I discover who I am and who I want to be. It’s the only way I know how to communicate with everyone around me.

As a reader and writer I think it is important to get to know your fans and make a connection with them as an author who takes the extra step to hear what their fans think and want in their continued writing is continued success and key to selling more books. Do you agree with that?

Absolutely! I still get giddy inside when one of my favorite authors replies to one of my tweets or comments on my facebook status. So I think it’s incredibly important for authors to connect with their readers. I love it when I get a message or an email from a reader saying how much they enjoyed my book. That just adds more fuel to my fire and makes me want to write some more.

Do you have a favorite author or authors?

Yes! I’m a huge fan of Terry Moore writer/artist/creator of Strangers in Paradise. Marisa de los Santos, Marissa Meyer, Emma Donoghue, Jim Butcher and Gregory Maguire.

Do you like to write your books in a continuing series ?

The Frost Series is my first attempt at writing a series, before that everything was either a standalone novel or a collection of short stories. But so far I’m enjoying the process of writing a series it allows me to get to know my characters a little more. It’s been a lot of fun for me!

If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why?

This is going to sound crazy but probably Harry Dresden from The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. He just makes me laugh and it would never ever be boring.

What kinds of books do you like to read in your spare time ?

I read anything I can get my hands on as long as it’s interesting. But my favorite genre? Fairy tale retellings (obviously).

Do you cry when writing sad scenes?

All the time. I get emotionally attached to my characters and when they suffer I’m right there with them. But as a writer I have to do it in order for them to grow and learn.

Did you have a Cover Designer ?

For the Frost Series? No, I’m very lucky that Musa Publishing has an incredible cover designer. They do listen to some of my suggestions and they make sure that the author is 100% happy with the end result. I have nothing but great things to say about Musa Publishing.

Who is your fictional boyfriend or girlfriend crush ?

Author InLOL Ned from Pushing Daisies. He’s played by the actor Lee Pace. What can I say? I love a man that can make pies (and bring people back from the dead).

If you were able to dine and have a one on one with your favorite writer/author who would it be ?

Terry Moore. I love his ability to weave art and storytelling seamlessly. I actually got a chance to meet him a few years ago during the Baltimore Comic Con. It’s one of the few times I can actually say that kept my cool and didn’t go all ‘fan-girl’ on him. I even got to take a picture with him.  Best day ever!

Do just re-read your favorite books ?

All the time.

Do you ever get in a reading slump like your readers do ?

It happens from time to time but after a few days of searching through my books I’ll re-read my favorite books or take it as a sign that I have to sit down and actually write.

What is the funniest book you ever read ?

The Works of John Leguizamo by John Leguizamo. I’m in tears every time I read this book. He’s one of my favorite comedians.terview

Can you share your idea of the perfect soundtrack to ‘Glass Frost’ with us?

1. Just Say Yes by Snow Patrol. Terrance comes back for Bianca and asks her to go back to Everafter with him. LOL All you want to do at that moment is scream ‘Say yes!’ to Bianca. :D

2. A Sorta Fairytale by Tori Amos.

3. Stolen by Dashboard Confessional.

4. I’m Shipping Up to Boston by Dropkick Murphys. Something bad happens to Bianca (can’t say....spoilers) but she learns a very harsh lesson in karma.

5. Just for Now by Imogen Heap. This is a nice song for the chapters they’re visiting the dwarves.

6. The Catalyst by Linkin Park.  This was the song that actually inspired me to write Glass Frost in the first place. There’s a scene in the book where Bianca falls into a dark pit and has to find a way out.

7. Everything Has Changed by Taylor Swift. Listen to the lyrics. It’s definitely a Bianca and Terrance song.

8. Not Like the Movies by Katy Perry. This song is definitely for Rebekah aka The Frog Queen.

9. Wide Awake by Katy Perry. Bianca definitely does a lot of growing up in this book. This song fits her perfectly. :)

Can you share the playlist you listened to while writing ‘First Frost’ with us?

I listened to A LOT of Mumford and Sons while I was writing First Frost. So you can basically put their first album on this list. And if you have no idea who this band is then you have to check them out. They’re AMAZING. Also Imogen Heap, I’m a HUGE fan of hers. I’d listen to her any time of the day. She just has a way to put me in a dream-like state and it makes it easy for me to write.

That having been said I’ll share the top ten songs I listened to while I worked on First Frost:

1. First Train Home by Imogen Heap
2. Little Bird by Imogen Heap
3. Between Sheets by Imogen Heap
4. 2 - 1 by Imogen Heap
5. Aha! by Imogen Heap
6. Canvas by Imogen Heap
7. The Cave by Mumford and Sons
8. Timshel by Mumford and Sons
9. Thistel and Weeds by Mumford and Sons
10. Enchanted by Taylor Swift

I know it’s not a lot of variety but it’s the only way to get me to write sometimes. The music helps me get to a certain mind set. Especially if it’s music that I know my characters would listen to.

About Book

Roderick Gideon Tremayne, the recently appointed Duke of Wentworth, never expected to find himself in New York City, tracking down a mysterious map important to his late mother. And he certainly never expected to be injured, only to wake up with no memory of who he is. But when he sees the fiery-haired beauty who's taken it upon herself to rescue him, suddenly his memory is the last thing on his mind.

Georgia Milton, the young head of New York's notorious Forty Thieves, feels responsible for the man who was trying to save her bag from a thief. But she's not prepared for the fierce passion he ignites within her. When his memory begins to return, her whole world is threatened, and Roderick must choose between the life he forgot and the life he never knew existed.

Our Thoughts

Delilah is a new author for me and I have been enjoying her Rumor Series.I really have enjoyed all the characters that I have read about its a great cast. Its important to like the characters and found them like-able and engaging .

The main character's Roderick Gideon Tremayne the Duke of Wentworth aka nickname Robinson and Georgia Milton were a blast to read about loved both there characters as the were a lot of fun to get to know and read about.

We are going to be calling Roderick Robinson as that what Georgia calls him.Roderick was involved in an accident on the streets of New York while engaging in conversation with Georgia but, the accident has left Roderick without a memory of who is or where he is from.Georgia with her generous heart decides to take him in until her remembers things and can return home.

This couple experienced a fierce attraction between them upon there first encounter but, Georgia new he would be looking for no more than a toss in the hay. But, perhaps her perception is wrong as we learn more about this titled gentlemen other than that his favorite book is Robinson Crusoe.

George Milton is a leader of the Forty Thieves an illicit group that protect the district that they live in which is filled with nothing but crime and poor people.A group that helps to protect those who can't protect themselves.Georgia is now bringing Robinson into her way of life as it is the only place he has to go.Knowing Robinson is from money she is worried how he will cope with all his new surroundings and living with herself.

My favorite character is Georgia .I have to say that girl and fire and spunk. She had a backbone and it showed in her actions.I found her to be funny at times to as she spoke like a drunken sailor and her vice was that she liked whiskey. What a generous heart she had. A women with barley the means to get buy takes on a man with no memory just so he is not alone in the world but is highly attracted to.

This couple's journey was not a easy one.Robinson life has turned completely around and we feel his distress and pain of never regaining his memory. We see a very compassionate and loving side of Robinson also.Being of the upper class you would think he would be giving off airs and making demands but he pitches right in to helps Georgia in her daily life but also makes the lives of others just a little bit easier to.

The story lurked with danger and romance and a bit of sadness. We were sitting on pins and needles waiting for Robinson to regain his memory knowing that it was going to bring heartache and pain to both him and Georgia once it did.The story also let us into the lives of the poor growing up and New York City and what the conditions were like for them as there was really no advocate to speak on there behalf.

A chance meeting brought this couple together and you can see that they are meant to be but, life gets in the way and knowing the two are from different classes a lasting relationship was not in the cards for them. But, my favorite character Georgia has many surprises up her sleeve and has no intentions of permanently letting her man go she will take us on a journey with her to do just that !

This is another keeper for me a favorite of the series as Georgia made it so for me.I like that all the characters from one book to the other grace the pages in the current story as well because they were interesting characters as well.

Look forward to reading more of The rumor series and I have an I have enjoyed them all.
